Weekly Chat 23rd to 29th September.
Good Morning. Still overcast here, but the Sky looks a bit brighter with the sun trying to peak through. Record amounts of rain in specific areas of the Country over the last 48 hours. There's a flood alert for the River Maun today The river is about 500 yards from us. Being we are well above it, so no chance of it flooding here. Mansfield is actually named after the River Maun. "The name Mansfield comes from the Old English words maun, meaning the river name, and feld, meaning open country. The town was built around the river. The River Maun originates in Kirkby-in-Ashfield and flows through Mansfield, Edwinstowe, and Ollerton, eventually merging with the River Meden to form the River Idle, which eventually flows into the River Trent at West Stockwith, Notts. -

Wimbledon's pitch damaged by flooding
This will surely cause fixture problems for Wimbledon. It may take several weeks to repair the pitch. The whole pitch may have to be relaid, after the drainage has been repaired to avoid a repeat of the problem. -
