Have you ever been fired from your job?

Time to confess, who's been fired from their job in the past here?

What was you fired for? Be brave and come forward if you have been made to walk the plank at work.

I was made redundant three times I guess that’s about the same as being fired isn’t it? I think two were genuine redundancies but one was just an excuse to get rid of me, it did leave me very bitter at the time especially as the boss was a Notts fan. Nuff said.

Never been fired , but after 43 years in the same job sometimes wish I had ????

Only 19 but never been fired. I resigned from one job in about a month after starting working there haha. Management was awful and just sort of being bullied at the tender ate of 17. She was an old'ish women and she ruined my desire to work in a particular industry ever again.

I was made redundant at 50 after 34 years at the same place, 2 months after being assured that our jobs were safe.I'll never forget going to the job centre the first time and a smarmy jobsworth so called assistant asking me why I was there and if I'd looked for a job yet,I told him that I'd gone there directly after being given my cards and that it was the first time I'd been out of work  since leaving school and wasn't sure what to do but that I thought it was his job to help me find fresh employment. What a smart arse pratt he was

I was offered redundency just before my 64th birthday but took early retirement to look after  @GrannyPie instead.

Technically I have been sacked twice.

However, due to my first employers going through a takeover they found out that sacking me was a breach of my contract and after a meeting we myself/@super_ram they decided that I was fired but that I was being made redundant. They gave me a pathetic payoff and I wished I had taken them to tribunal because I could have made pay a lot more for their treatment of me.

I was also once fired for allegedly walking out on a shift, I settled out of court on that one.

It's not a nice world when people think they can get a way with treating people wrongly.

I have once because my manager was 5* start dick head he rammed the kitchen with orders then moaned about when we couldn’t keep he wanted a word at the end of the shift. he said that he didn’t think I professionall enough so... then I stopped him told to f off and squirted oil down his shirt ????????????

no but i almost was recently because of an accident caused by my line manager neglecting health and safety rules, he tried blaming me and i got the decision overturned. more fool him but i want out of my job.

No, but that may be because i haven't had a job i can get fired from. I went to college straight from school and got a few qualifications but had to quit due to having my first child which turned out to be mine and Chris's stillborn daughter. Whilst getting used to that(i wouldnt say getting over because i will never be) i had our son and 2 more daughters so been very busy looking after them. I need to go back into training before i can complete the course to do the job i wanted but having social anxiety and a few other issues has stopped me getting back into it. I now volunteer at my daughters school 2 days a week because its something i enjoy and it may help me in the future when i finally get back into it.

That reminds me of one of my “redundancies” they offered me a really pathetic pay off but I got my excellent union involved and we were going to an industrial tribunal however just before the tribunal was due to take place the company offered me a lot more money which the union advised me to take so I did and it paid for a nice conservatory for our house with some over. I found employment three months laterduring the period of employment I got money from the union to help with everyday bills etc.

The union were excellent and I could never have done it without them, that’s why I would always advise anyone to join a union to safeguard their interests against unscrupulous employers.

I find union officials to be very poor.

They talk a good game but don't actually stand by what they say, I know other people who have used them and switched - only to find out that they are being poorly advised. I think it's another sign of the times myself.

No, I have never been fired. I have been lucky enough to have owned my own business for a number of years.

I have retired early now, my son now runs the business.

I had to resign from my last job due to moving to Leeds, Uni has lined me up with work experience and tomorrow will be the count down.

I wouldn't want to be fired.

Unfortunately there are individuals who like to intimidate new, and especially, young recruits. They don't like it when you stand up to them do they. When I first started work as a gopher(Go for this,go for that)a person, more a joker than a bully, sent me for a reel of tartan cotton. My mates, who had experience of work before me had warned me that I'd face a lot of leg pulling ,so I was prepared.I realised tartan cotton was a leg pull .So,after a short while I returned to the joker empty handed and told him "you'll have to give me an ammerfor first".He looked puzzled and said to me " What's an ammerfor" I replied " to hit jokers like you over the head" He realised his joke had been turned on him and burst ou laughing. From then on I was one of 'His best mates'I sympathise with you though @samwatto2008

@super_ram Brilliant Story :D I am OK about it now though, but it put me off retail and I would never go back there not now I have got a career. Just saw it as a petty part time job thing.
