Who can fill Jim O'Brien boots?

Who can fill Jim O'Brien boots?

With him likely to be out for some time, if not the rest of the season. Who can step forward and take his boots?

It's a massive blow for us, he's equally adapt at doing the defensive and offensive work, I'd have said O'Brien was our best CM at the start of the season so I'm gutted he won't have much involvement for the rest of the season. Rose and Doyle just isn't working at the moment. Both play too deep and don't really have much of an effect on the play in the final third. I think you've got to pair one them with Booty for that reason.

The only CM other than Booty is Crawford and couldn't even get on when O'Brien went off, I've seen very little of him play so it's hard for me to make any judgements on him though...

He was a good asset in the team, shame hes been injured again. The injury really did look horrible.

could neal ardley and mitch rose have found a way to get the best out of the current option? i hope so.

we cant have two cms so deep, if rose dont start i would prefer to see regan booty there.

@menzinho I don't see Tom Crawford in Neal Ardley's plans this season, with him not going out and still appearing on certain match days, I think he might be seen as one for the future.

I agree that Mitch Rose can play with Michael Doyle, if they are spaced out and both give 100%.

Issue is I don't think we have seen them both perform well enough consistently together, yet Regan Booty could be a good replacement. He has goals, can get forward well and coves decently at the back. Hopefully, with Jim O'Brien returning to the treadmill he will be back sooner than we thought - not that I would rush him.

We can can cover the position, it's just Jim's passion and influence we will miss the most.

Does anyone have any more information about how Jim O'Brien is doing?

I think his boots are the hardest to fill.

There's plenty of options, Tom Crawford and Regan Booty can fill in the missing creativity I feel.

I don't think anyone so far has really secured Jim's place in the squad, I prefer O'Brien in the middle rather than out wide though.

I think Notts are coping okay considering, I do think Jim would improve things but at the moment Doyle and Rose are okay.

Not sure, he really needs to rest & make sure hes fully match fit next time even though i understand his frustration in not being able to play

Nobody can replace or fill Jim O'Brien's boots from the current squad list, nobody has his drive or energy.

Regan Booty does well when given a chance.

He's a totally different player, much like Mitch Rose.

I think the club should identify a new signing that can replace Michael Doyle or Jim O'Brien eventually, we lack this type of experience in my eyes.
