I can't remember the last time I went to an 'Ofton' game @Fan of Big Tone.,it must be 50 years or more. My dad used to keep me up to date with results and performances but since he passed away I just check their results along with all the other results. He would have been really chuffed to be drawn against Notts.I just hope it's a good game ,free of controversies.2 points

Alfreton at home it is then! It'll be a good occasion, there'll be a fair few from Alfreton there. A home tie against a non-league team gives us a good chance of progressing in theory, but we all know that these games can be a banana skin. We've made ourselves look like eejits often enough. I think we should throw everything we've got at the FA Cup this season, we're long overdue a run!2 points

I think we can, but we need to be mindful of injuries because this is the biggest thing which impacts our performances. I know some fans enjoy criticising Stuart Maynard again, but he's doing well. Yes, we are defensively stronger now, but I do think compared to last season, we are weaker in the striker department, mostly due to not replacing Macaulay Langstaff. Jatta will get goals, but we can't rely on him to involve himself as other strikers might. We have to present him with a good opportunity or hope it works out.2 points

The book and play are both wonderful. It was very funny to see it live, and the whole cast did an excellent job bringing the text to the bigger stage. It sold out quite well, so I wouldn't be surprised if some didn't get to see it. I felt lucky that I managed it. I know people were calling for it to return.2 points

In certain situations, I believe it would be worth playing them both together from the start. The bench would need to reflect this. Therefore, I think Cedwyn Scott and Jevani Brown would need to be saved in case we needed to make changes up top. There is a lot of potential for Jatta to play off David McGoldrick. McGoldrick does involve himself more, whereas Jatta is quite comfortable to wait for the ball and strike when the chance presents itself. It could be a way to return us back to winning form, but I am cautious about us doing it too often. As we have seen with McGoldrick, we need him for big games, so we need to desist from overplaying or relying on him too much.1 point

Scott played well in the National League playing in an attacking midfield role and he still scored a good number of goals. I think he's still capable of playing that role for us along with playing as forward too (good luck getting in a head of Jatta and Didzy there though). But the injury has been a massive setback, even over pre-season he didn't score and he looked like a player that hadn't played for a year. And then in his competitive return he's not looked quite on it but that is to be expected with all the football he's missed. I think he just needs a bit more playing time and with our injuries to Jodi, Grant and Edwards he's got more of chance than ever now. I don't think it matters too much where he plays, he's played enough in the attacking midfield role he knows what to do, he's just got to take his chance when he gets it.1 point

No Disrespect to Sam Slocombe, but Notts should have held on to Tiernan Brookes. Yes we have an Excellent Keeper in Bass, but the way Notts Luck with injuries is going I would sooner have had Tiernan as Backup rather than Sam.1 point

I applaud Notts for their phenomenal performance. While Langstaff was the obvious star, I was equally impressed by the whole team's synergy and discipline on the pitch. The defence was a solid unit, and Brindley's return added strength and reliability we were looking for. It was a commendable team effort indeed. In anticipation of the match against Tranmere Rovers, keeping our defensive formation steady and utilising the capability of Jones on the left flank will be key. Additionally, the prospect of introducing Nemane back into the line-up sounds promising. Winning consecutive games could be a massive boost for the team's morale, so fingers crossed!1 point

Passion, grit, and an unwavering belief in our abilities are what we need to secure victory against Morecambe. I'm particularly excited to see how McGoldrick utilises his experience to pressure Morecambe's defence. This promises to be an absorbing encounter.1 point

Every match offers an opportunity to rectify previous mistakes and learn something new. This game is crucial for both Morecambe and Notts to assert their standing in League Two. A captivating match awaits us, with both teams needing to claim those critical 3 points. I hope its our day!1 point

Notts County will be heading to Mazuma Stadium for their midweek trip to face Morecambe on Tuesday evening. The Magpies are coming off a confidence-boosting performance and result against Grimsby Town, where they collected their first points back in the English Football League with a win in their first league home game of the campaign. On the other hand, Morecambe suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Mansfield Town at the One Call Stadium. Notts County find themselves back in the fourth tier of English football’s pyramid for the first time since their first-ever relegation to non-league in 2019. Last campaign, the Magpies went toe-to-toe with Wrexham, ultimately losing out on automatic promotion by four points. However, their celebrations wouldn’t be delayed for much longer. A day out at Wembley ended in promotion after an eventful encounter against Chesterfield. The game ended 2-2 after extra time before Luke Williams’ side triumphed 4-3 on penalties. In pre-season, County won four friendlies, against Nuneaton Borough, AFC Telford United, Boston United and Alfreton Town, drew against Shrewsbury Town and lost against Stoke City and Nottingham Forest. Williams has been in charge at Meadow Lane since June 2022 and has taken charge of 51 matches in total, winning 35, drawing 11 and losing just five. Key players to watch out for from Notts County include summer arrival David McGoldrick who returned to Notts County having previously represented the club in 2003/04 and 2005/06. Since then, the 35-year-old has racked up a total of 559 appearances to date, including 63 (and 10 goals) in the Premier League for Sheffield United. A proven goalscorer at any level he’s played, the former Derby County man has netted over 150 times so far in his career. Forward Macaulay Langstaff enjoyed a monumentally successful campaign last time out, scoring 42 league goals and picking up a number of accolades including National League Player of the Season, Fans’ and Players’ Player of the Season and records set for most goals in a Notts County season, most goals in a National League season and most Player of the Month awards in a National League season. At just 31-years-old, John Bostock has accumulated a wealth of experience throughout his career to-date. As well as plying his trade in Belgium, the USA, France and Turkey, the midfielder represented England at U16, U17 and U19 level, playing alongside Jack Wilshere, Andros Townsend and Jonjo Shelvey. On Morecambe's side, some key players to watch out for include Stuart Moore who has played all three games so far this season as goalkeeper. Donald Love is another player to watch out for as he has played all three games so far this season as defender. In midfield Tom Bloxham has played all three games so far this season. Up front Michael Mellon has played all three games so far this season as striker. Ahead of the game, Derek Adams spoke of his awareness of County's flexible approach to different games. It should be an exciting match! We encourage readers to get involved with the Pride of Nottingham match discussion, both pre- and post-match. We would love to know your thoughts! Good read, this @Chris. I’m glad to see that coach Luke Williams is not intent on ‘completely ripping up everything’ from last season. There is a need for consistency as well as innovation, and in a new season, the understanding of what works and what needs improvement can make a significant difference. Williams is clearly doing a great job of striking that balance.1 point

Just imagine if either Ian Burchnall or Steve Cooper were pulled over for speeding; neither would pass as not being drunk. The roadside test would be even funnier to watch. I don’t believe Notts received any compensation for his departure; I believe we gave him permission to leave.1 point
-
Ian Burchnall was a better coach than manager. Notts gave him a good foundation to build on his footballing CV, but he had a rush of blood to his head. I am surprised that anyone is interested in him, especially since he failed terribly at Forest Green. His time there isn’t fondly remembered; their fans told him he was out of his depth.1 point
-
Ian Burchnall could have been a good manager, but it seems he bought into his own hype a little too much. I don’t think Forest Green Rovers was a good move for someone with ambitions, as Notts were on the verge of chasing promotion and FGR looked dead set for relegation from League One. I can’t imagine it was a much bigger payday, but who cares now? We have Luke Williams, who is 100% better than Burchnall. Burchnall was decent enough, but his decisions in games weren’t always the best. His reading and tactics alone lost Notts points.1 point

Well done, Stoke City! This makes us feel proud to be a part of the Football community.1 point

While it's usual for us to discuss the tactics and performances of teams, it is genuinely warming to see an act of goodwill from one club to another. Stoke City's initiative has added a fresh dimension to football, illuminating the human side of the sport.1 point

Frank Vincent was a great player on his day. I really wish him all the best, as I think he deserves to play more than what we could offer him.1 point

Best wishes to Frank Vincent. I think he’ll be a superb signing for Dagenham & Redbridge!1 point
-
I felt a bit sorry for him. He’s a good squad player, but the issue is that we’re seeking quality in our depth. I don’t deny that he’s a good player, but the teams where he was exceptional were few and far between. Notts simply outgrew him. However, Dagenham & Redbridge should get the best out of him.1 point
-
I still have to pinch myself sometimes just to remember that we finally have owners who genuinely care about the club and its fans. They've done a remarkable job so far and continue to work hard to bring success to Notts County.1 point

Good luck to Jordan Richards, I wasn’t sure about the move when I first read about it but seeing some of these comments has made me see things differently.1 point

It’s a smart decision for Jordan Richards to take this opportunity to get his career back on track and attract the attention of league teams. Best of luck to him.1 point

It feels like the last 4 years have been some ride; that’s for certain. The thing about dreams is that eventually they end and I don’t think with the stewardship we have right now that failure is something the club will know. The recruitment makes a big difference.1 point

I wish Joel Taylor all the best as he begins a new campaign with Chester. At this stage in his career, it would be best for him to try to settle down and play as much as possible.1 point
-
I didn’t expect Joel Taylor to join Chester, but it seems like he made the move to get more game time. I respect that he doesn’t want to sit on the bench collecting a wage; he’d rather play and earn his money.1 point
