or something else

Guys we have a new member @ScottyP can we take the time to say hello to him please and welcome him. @ScottyP maybe you introduce your self and tell us a little bout your self.

Hello,

My names James, I've supported Notts since 1997. My father used to take me down to Meadow Lane with my uncle and cousins, I go to matches on my own these days though. I'm a Kopite and my favourite player that I have seen is Paul Heffernan hence my name here.

There is probably better names I could have picked.

As a club, Notts are doing well. We are bringing in young players and developing them and they intern are helping us move forward as a club

But these are two models we cannot replicate

1) Crewe. They flooded their team with youth players too fast, too soon and it has done nothing for them apart from plunder them into successive relegation battles. I'm not saying them players are bad, I'm saying you can't rush youth players (especially lots of them) too fast, too soon into the first team

2) Southampton and Barnsley. Buying players then sell them on. It doesn't move the club forward. It eventually caught up on both clubs. Southampton eventually made a wrong decision in appointing Pellegrino. They can somewhat get away with it as they are in the Premier League. For Barnsley, they weren't so fortunate. Barnsley sold Holgate, Mawson, Winnall, Bree, Hourihane, Roberts and MacDonald all within under two years. Added to that key players such as Scowen and Watkins left. The club just dropped back into League One.

So as we go in the new era at Medow Lane Under Alan Hardy but I can’t help but still think back to when we thought the last time we was on the way up ... even signed Sol Campbell but for me he didn’t do nothing and wasn’t worth anything .. what’s your guys thought about his time at Medow Lane

whats everyone doing/been up to today?

anyone doing/done anything special today? its quite nice out there, i dont have any plans myself yet but i was wondering about other pon members.

First half quite good, mostly played in Nigeria half.England should have made more of superiority.Second half was worrying as Nigeria were very much improved, especially when they pulled a goal back.Need to cut out sloppiness and overplaying.Overall a good workout and it was a friendly!

So with the recruitment drive at medow Lane in full affect and going really well. So if Alan Hardy and Kevin Nolan came to you and said you can bring back any player from Notts County’s past team who would it be. Which player from County’s past any era who would you bring back on a one year deal.?

So Kevin Nolan is entering his second season as Notts County manager are you guys happy about that or should he have sacked.? Or do you think that the disappointment of the play offs and some of the errors the team made and he did will spear him forward to have more successful season I.e county getting promoted.

So Alan Hardy has announced that the new kit will be launched or released in five weeks. What did you think to last years shirt.? And will this one

So myself and @chris and @super_pie and his friend are going to the Leicester and derby match would anyone fancy meetup before or after for a pint.?

So where is everyone’s favourite place to eat when eating out.?

So I have decided that next season I plan to do most away games that I can attend. I work on the railway so shift patterns can sometimes get in the way. However I have decided that I will review these away days and post on the site so the members of PON can read and share their views and experiences that they have too.

I like to ground hop and tick of certain grounds so next year I will be trying to achieve this. I will try post weekly on some of my previous experiences I have had for now just to get in to the practice of writing them up so hopefully when the season starts I can write it in a proper article format for you all. Let me know your thoughts, both positive and negative please.

Heres the Format -

Should you attend?:

So Mike Edwards is to join Kevin Nolan’s coaching team next season. How do you think he will do in his new role? And why do you think he retired from playing.?

So the World Cup just 7 days away till the tournament starts England have announced there squad was there any shocks in the squad you feel.?

So what’s everyone’s favourite song to sing on match day.? No matter where you sit

Was the injury to Mo Salah the beginning of the end for Liverpool.? If he didn’t go off could they have won.?

So Alan Smith was on the released list why do you think he was released. He was on the coaching team and seemed to have a good relationship with Kevin Nolan. Did his release come as a shock.?

I’ve got to say It makes a change to see the club continuously purchase players for a fee, as the Threws only did it a few times they mostly reliable upon free transfers which turned out to be unsuccessful. But things seem to have have changed what do you think about this ? Are you likening the current recruitment strategy from Hardy and Nolan and the players they are bringing in.

The EFL has held its annual general meeting (AGM) today, 8 June.

Here is comprehensive update of the issues, off the Sunderland website (kudos to them for putting it all up):

The highlights of the 2018 AGM included:

MATCH PROGRAMMES

A number of Clubs had previously asked the EFL if the mandatory publication of a match programme could be addressed as a result of an overall decline in sales and the proliferation of digital and social media, which has the ability to deliver the same content in a more cost effective manner. Mandatory publication of a programme was required due to a number of the EFL’s partnership, sponsorship and opt-in agreements.

EFL Clubs approved an amendment which allows Clubs to opt out of providing advertising in match programmes on the basis it is replaced with other inventory. This amendment will mean that the requirement to deliver programme advertising in the EFL Regulations will only apply if a match programme is produced. The amended regulation provides each Club with the option to determine whether or not they publish a match programme.

GROUND CRITERIA – SHARED GROUNDS

It was agreed that, from 5 May 2019 onwards, the EFL will ordinarily limit the number of sports in a ground share application to football, plus one other.

Clubs who ground share with another sport must have a hybrid or similar pitch installed. For existing ground shares, this requirement will come into effect from 1 July 2019.

SAFEGUARDING OPERATING STANDARDS

A new regulation will provide the EFL Board with the ability to implement appropriate operational standards relating to safeguarding of young persons and vulnerable adults (Safeguarding Operational Standards) if and when appropriate.

OWNERS’ CONDUCT REVIEW

As a result of the Owners’ Conduct Review, a number of key recommendations were developed to specifically address some of the reputational issues facing the EFL and its Clubs. This followed the comprehensive consultation with Clubs that was initiated in September 2017.

Three formal proposals were put forward to the AGM and subsequently voted into EFL Regulations.

INTRODUCTION OF A CLUB CHARTER

The introduction of a new Club Charter which will act as a statement of the EFL’s commitment to run EFL Clubs to the highest possible standards in a professional manner and with the utmost integrity.

In addition, the Charter commits all Clubs to behave with the utmost good faith and honesty to each other, while complying with the laws of the game and ensuring that all Club officials comply with the decisions of the EFL and its various decision making bodies at all times.

OVERDUE PAYABLES

The extension of the existing rule, which sanctions Clubs for non-payment of transfer fees or loan fees, to also cover any amounts due between Clubs, including loan wages and ticket monies, and payments to staff which would otherwise rank as a ‘football creditor’ under the Articles of Association.

OWNERS’ AND DIRECTORS’ TEST

An amendment to the Owners’ and Directors’ Test was agreed which prohibits a registered Intermediary from engaging in activities that fall within the definition of a ‘Director’ under the EFL Regulations. This amendment brings the EFL into clearer alignment with the Rules of the FA.

In addition to the changes to EFL Regulations, there were two other specific areas addressed that have been highlighted as part of the review. These were:

EFL POLICY ON TAKING ACTION AGAINST INDIVIDUALS

The EFL Chairman proposed the adoption of a new policy in circumstances where it is considered appropriate to take direct action against individuals who fail to meet the standards that are expected of them under the Regulations.

The policy outlines that it should be reserved for the following circumstances:

- A very serious single act or persistent serious acts
- Relating to the operation of an EFL football Club
- Where the individual’s conduct is clearly damaging to the standing and reputation of the wider profession and the game of football

The Board will look to formally adopt the policy at its next meeting on 26 July.

FINANCIAL CONTROLS IN LEAGUE ONE AND LEAGUE TWO

Discussions with League One and League Two Clubs will continue around the principles of budgeting and funding commitments and whether any changes should be made to the SCMP Rules or existing Regulations.

This debate will continue at September’s Divisional meetings.

In addition, there have been changes to the EFL Cup (off BBC site):

The Carabao Cup is to scrap extra time for the 2018-19 season, while all games at Premier League grounds will use VAR.

EFL Cup matches will now go straight to penalty kicks if the scores are level after 90 minutes to reduce "additional fatigue issues" following a vote by English Football League clubs.

Extra time will now only be played in the final at Wembley, while the ABBA penalty format is also to be scrapped.

Seeding will be removed for the first two rounds of the competition, but round one will remain regionalised into North and South sections.

And also the EFL Trophy:

EFL clubs will now be able to include players who are on loan at National League clubs.

Category One teams who take part will only be allowed to name two players who are over the age of 21 and have played more than 40 first-team games.

What a goal from Rashford as England met Costa Rica in a World Cup warm up. If you could sum it up in one word what would it be.?

@Chris is there an option to give ordinary members the option to edit their own posts, being an ex printer I’m a stickler for correct spelling, punctuation etc., and very often I submit a post and realise there’s a spelling mistake or predictive text has put something silly but I can’t edit it.

If there was an option to edit my posts after posting I could sleep better at night, I have nightmares of my old foreman at the print works when I was an apprentice giving me a good rollicking because I spelt something wrong. :panic:

After Dan Jones signing on that means Kellet will be left wing I assume so who else is needed in your opinion?

(Leaving O’Connor out of it for the moment.)

For me...

sub keeper ( Pind hasn’t signed and I missed it has he?)

back up right back with pace ala Jones on the left.

Centre back. Not Duffy! We need a starter CB. Then let’s throw another in there for competition as well. Why not? ????????

Right winger.

Striker on loan maybe?

If I was going all out then I’d get rid of Hawkridge and Alessandro and get two more wingers in to cover/challenge.

If Mason Bennett is a possibility then I’d jump at taking him. Looked good in the glimpse he had on the field. Sits well with the new partnership of Hemings and Dennis. (Christ please leave Stead on the bench. He is not a target man. We need to play to feet now!)

So Duffy has ended speculation on his future along wit a few others but O’Connor is still to do so. Would you like him to resign with Notts County.?
