Will things really improve under the current ownership?

The club needs a fresh direction that is for sure, yet I feel becoming Port Vale's reserves and hiring John Sheridan simply papers over the cracks. Its early but already we have seen petty verbal fights break out and well I don't think we will achieve much. I hate to be a buzz kill but at this stage, I do not think lessons have been learned!

Prove me wrong Notts.

what is your favorite emoticon on PON?

This is mine :happy banana:

Contract mutually terminated per Notts twitterΒ

Will mellors-blair is still at notts and played in the friendly today (along side O'Connor who is fit for Saturday) and is now fit after a hamstring injury, but we still haven't announced that we have signed him despite him training with us and teasing fans on twitter!

We are waiting to hear back from 2 clubs regarding a defender!

One of which is believed to be Joe Worrall, a centre/right back, he's 19 and currently plays for forest but he played 14 tomes for Dagenham last season on loan!

Izale McLeod! Apparently clubs are interested in signing izale!

Is there one? I hope so, we really need to ditch the away RED kit, really bad karma!!

Collin 6.5 - Didn't really have much to do, and couldn't be faulted for their goals.

Audel 4 - Not a right back, simple as that and I hope Tootle moves there in the next game

Duffy 7 - Solid throughout against a decent striker in Van Veen

Hollis 7 - I know we all want a better player than Haydn in central defence but I thought he did OK last night, won everything he could in the air and on the ground and gave 100%. I think he prefers to play in a flat back four, and has always looked an OK defender with quality alongside him, Mullins, Laing, Duffy etc.

Dicko 7 - Proper old fashioned left-back display

Tootle 6.5 - Decent performance but lost the ball a bit too often

Smith 5.5 - Let Scunny play in the hole behind him a little too often but kept going for 65 minutes

Rodman 6.5 - Tried to get things going but our attack/midfield are new to each other and are not yet reading whcih passes/runs to make (yet)

Burke 1 - see other thread

Stead 4 - Passed it now I feel, great player and tries hard but should now start from the bench and not be in our best 11

Oliver 7 - Did everything except score, but I started to worry that this will be the story of every game he plays

Subs

Campbell 5 - Ran around as usual, 100 % effort BUT can't score and we all saw at 0-1

Snijders 6 - As Campbell but I think he's better and should come on first of those 2 at present.

Atkinson 5 - Didn't do much, but didn't do much wrong either

Β

Sheridan 7.5 - To be judged when we have a right back (Tootle), O'Connor is fit and he decides that his first choice attacks are at home and away. I did like the idea of a solid 4-4-2 away, we tried to win the game and could well have done so.

Scunthorpe United FC 8 - We enjoyed their very friendly hospitality, thank you, and had a good chat to Neal Bishop and Rodders and an excellent meal (and Ray and Aileen). Would give them a 9 but they desperately need the new ground asap.

Β

@Blackville and I will be there as guests of Scunny, so we'll have to be on our best behaviour!

I'm hoping for a few changes from the Glovers game, goalkeeper for a start and Eddy to centre back.

O@Connor in midfield if he's fit, and Forte and a pacy player up front - Snijders??

I spoke with four of your fans ahead of Tuesday's EFL Cup game with Scunthorpe. Makes for a good read.

Good luck for the season

Lewin nyatanga has just signed for Northampton on loan after being a target for us [emoji22]

I've only seen the half time score, is anyone there?

I thought I would play a game by pixelating a player, to see if anyone can name who it is - now I won't use an image of the player at the club but that of the team before. All teams will be parent, not loan spells.

So, who is this?

Hey guys, please join me in extending a warm PON welcome to my best mate @RianchΒ who I've persuaded to come and join the fun of the prediction league. He's a big West Ham fan but we don't hold it against him ;)Β Welcome budΒ

It's that time of year already, the start of the new season! And that means of course the return of the prediction league!

Same rules as last season - 3 points for a correct score, one for correct result. Select one of your six predictions as your "joker" and double your points. Let's have as many as possible taking part this season!

Β

Saturday's Fixtures:
Derby County v Brighton & Hove Albion
Nottingham Forest v Burton Albion
Bolton Wanderers v Sheffield United
Scunthorpe United v Bristol Rovers
Accrington Stanley v Doncaster Rovers
Plymouth Argyle v Luton Town

Β

Good luck!

Doesanybody know if we are having a new kit this year? With the kit supplier and sponsor being the same, could this be a year we keep the kit the same without changing it?

Leigh Curtis needs to visit Specsavers by giving Hewitt a 5. Too generous in general for the defence.

Collin. 2 uninspiring display, 2 real errors. Expect much better

Hollis 3 Turning circle of a super tanker.Β

Audel 4 Lack of defensive awareness exposed again

Dickinson 4 Organisational skills not enough with players around him

Hewitt 2 cannot Β defend, countless times lost possession.

Duffy 4 a touch slow at times

Rodman 5 shows touches of class and commitment

Tootle 5 Got stuck in first half, faded in 2nd. Should have won a penalty when fouled.

Aborah 5 put in some good free kicks but didn't do enough to get involvedΒ

Stead 2 inept

Forte 6 showed some good touches, unlucky with late shot

From the BBC:

Local businessman Alan Hardy has made a formal written offer to buy Notts County, BBC Radio Nottingham reports. Hardy will insist any agreement includes a clause that sees current owner and chairman Ray Trew settle any undisclosed debts and liabilities. Trew announced last month that he was looking to sell after his family were subjected to "foul and mindless abuse". HM Revenue & Customs has issued a winding up petition against the club, with the case adjourned until 25 April. Hardy is the chief executive of the Paragon Group, and owns the Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club.

Analysis

Colin Slater - BBC Radio Nottingham correspondent

"Alan Hardy is not disclosing the size of the offer made against a background where chairman Ray Trew has reportedly been asking for between Β£8-Β£10m, with Β£5m paid up front

"Hardy has let it known he had no prior information that the club was facing a winding-up petition from HMC, or the size of the club's indebtedness to the tax authorities, with widely different figures are being quotes by different sources.

"The court hearing into HRMC's petition is adjourned until the 25th of April, seemingly given Trew less than 40 days to finalise a deal with new owners and suggesting a period of hard bargaining is imminent."

Sorry to be critical but why for the admission price are we not playing Blackburn's first team, which turns out, played yesterday.Β

The final friendly of the season should be against a side demonstrably better than the teams we play and this helps highlight real deficiencies, ready for the start of the new season.

Did Notts know we would be playing basically Β a U21 team? A big fail for whoever a Notts who organised this game? I would have rather played a League 1 first team than some Championship reserve team

There's only one more match in Euro 2016 to predict ... DRUMΒ ROLL ... the FINAL.

Obviously there won't be any jokers in this round, but points will be tripled for this round, meaning that the right result is worth 3 points and the right score 9. SoΒ there are still three or four of you who have a shot at the title...Β Predictions please!

Portugal v France

Michael O'Connor has been appointed as club captain by John Sheridan, do you agree with this ? Would you have preferred another player as captain?

Personally i would have preferred Carl Dicko but that's just because I've never seen O'Connor play

Spent last weekend back in Nottingham. Went to Trent Bridge on Friday night and the Blackburn friendly on the Sunday. I had a few options on the Saturday but eventually settled on Radford v Carlton Town. Radford were an extremely friendly, welcoming little club. While rooting through the piles of programmes in the club shop I came across one from a friendly they played against Notts on 6th January 2009. It' only very basic but I brought it anyway. Bit of a long shot but does anyone happen to know what the result was? Just interested to know that's all, wouldn't be surprised if we managed to lose given how poor we were that season!

Β

Hi I have never done the prediction league, Could someone please tell me how to do it. Thanks

I keep an eye on football in the Olympics because it can throw up some great games and unearth a few gems I've never heard of. The Men's tournament is U23 with a few overage players. It started yesterday. Hosts Brazil got off to a poor start with a 0-0 draw against South Africa. Neymar is in the Brazil team. SA were down to 10 men for the last 30 mins as well.Β

The game of the day was Nigeria vs Japan. Nigeria lead 5-2 but the Japanese brought it back to 5-4. Nigeria arrived in Brazil hours before kick off. Etebo scored 4 of their goals. Asano, the young lad who joined Arsenal in the Summer, scored for Japan.Β

Β

"If there was a possibility he could go somewhere else, I wouldn't stand in his way" Sheridan on McLeod

Today football is full of Jordans and Jermaines with their fancy tricks, stepovers and fancy haircuts. But it wasn't always this way. Football was once a game for real men. Men who would have looked just as at home in a working man's club as on a football pitch.

Β

This is a place to celebrate them. And not just from Notts, but from all clubs.

Number one. Malcolm Shotton.
