  • Great result. Yes Exeter are poor, but Notts did what they had to do. This is not a great league, you don't have to be excellent to get promotion, consistently good will suffice, Notts are ticking that box right now.Β

What's with the Eddie hoofball comments? It seems I'm missing something.
He can easily play it on the ground but its just a case of he doesn't mess about, unlike some and would probably settle things down - until he couldn't play after a couple of appearances. I would have him there any day of the week.
I'm hoping we can get a good result, yet I'm still not confident at all.

I just heard someone else call it him one time and found it quite funny [emoji23] so just kept using it

I know it's less than ten games into a 46 game season but the abject way RUFC has started this season, plus Stubbs' ridiculously defensive tactics & p**s poor summer recruitment renders his position untenable, & with our next three games being Huddersfield A, Newcastle H & Norwich A he has to go.
Everyone at the club was disappointed when Mr Warnock chose not to take us on at the end of last season but after winning the Scottish Cup with Hibs last season, Millers fans were expecting better than the start we've had. We were in the mix for the signings of Lee Gregory (Millwall) & Tom Bradshaw (Walsall) & record offers were supposedly offered but nothing transpired so to the bargain bucket we headed bringing young "potential" from Scotland, Fisher & Allan (Celtic), Vaulks (Falkirk) & old rubbish crocks Kelvin Wilson (Forest,ex Celtic) & eventually Blackstock (Forest) who finally made a 10 minute substitute debut last Saturday v Cardiff after 4 weeks on the books. Now, we're bringing in a new "Head of recruitment"who should be in place after the next international break.....you couldn't make it up.
Our chairman should hold his hand up & admit he made a massive mistake, get a manager in who has the Championship experience (English) he promised, do away with the Head of recruitment idea & give the new manager the power to bring in the players & backroom staff he requires.

From BBC Sport (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37440689)

Premier League B teams and 'non-English' clubs will not be included in plans to reform the structure of the English Football League.

In May, it was revealed that the EFL, formerly known as the Football League before a rebrand this summer, could expand to include a fifth tier by 2019-20, with 100 teams over five divisions.

It is planned that additional clubs would come from the National League.

EFL clubs met to discuss the proposals for the first time on Thursday.

The exclusion from the plans, which will be voted on by all clubs in June 2017, of extra clubs from non-English leagues would appear to remove any prospect of Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers being involved in the EFL in the foreseeable future. Welsh clubs Cardiff and Newport already compete in the EFL.

Meanwhile, the idea to include Premier League B teams in any restructure which formed part of the Football Association commission's four-point plan to boost English football, has also been rejected.

"The logical place for many was to source the additional teams for League Three from the National League," EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey said.

"We will now continue our consultation with the National League with a little more certainty as to what any change could mean for them."

This season, the Checkatrade Trophy has included under-21 teams from Premier League and Championship clubs for the first time on a trial basis, something which the "overwhelming majority of fans" are against, according to the Football Supporters' Federation.

So this looks like a positive step and alleviates a lot of fears which would have plagued Football League fans.

What do you reckon to this and also to the potential League Three plans?

On Wednesday, Borussia are at home to Barcelona. The workmanlike 2-0 win on Saturday at home to Ingolstadt whcih @Blackville and I were at was Gladbach's 10th successive home win. 11 would be a club record. Nothing like choosing easy opposition to break a record against!!

Still, Messi's not playing...

Very interesting article as Filip Valencic now plays in Finland for one of Aki Lahtinen's former clubs

have the players now got a better understanding what js wants from them?

i think if we can score, notts start to play better and i do think things are progressing now.

This is a great idea IMO. Plenty of complaints about the program, match updates etc. Hopefully something comes out of it.Β

There don't even seem to be any rumours anymore. What happens if nobody meets the Trew's asking price?

Game 9 - Orient (H)

Team: Leyton Orient

Date: 24/09/16

Where: Meadow Lane

What line-up should John Sheridan opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

Have your say below, join in with the Pride of Nottingham match discussion.

An article in the Grimsby Telegraph covering the court case of the Grimsby Town fans who got onto the pitch at Meadow Lane have said they did so to avoid being crushed in a surge of supporters celebrating a goal.

From the article, which can be found at http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/grimsby-town-fans-blame-surge-for-pitch-invasion-at-notts-county/story-29734924-detail/story.html:

Nottingham Magistrates' Court heard that some had trouble finding seats at Meadow Lane – and that supporters were standing in a seated area.

Four Mariners' supporters were banned from all Premier and Football League games for three years. If England are playing abroad, they will have to surrender their passports.

Presiding magistrate David Mitchell told them: "This is to help prevent violence and disorder connected with football matches."

Sitting with two colleagues, he heard criticism over the handling of supporters at the League Two match which ended in a 2-2 draw on September 3.

Grimsby fan Paul John Taylor said: "I talked to a couple of stewards and showed my ticket. They said 'go up there' and I went up there.

"All the seats were taken and I ended up in a standing area. When Grimsby scored, there was a surge and the only place I could go was onto the pitch.

"It was not my fault. It just seemed like bad organisation. You could not get seated anywhere," said Taylor, 46, of Holyoake Road, Grimsby.

Tony Hines, 43, of Laburnam Drive, Grimsby, said he had suffered a broken heel last Christmas and that it was still "very very painful".

He told the court: "When we scored, there was surge of people. I went over the barrier to get out of the way of the crush. Basically I stepped over but didn't go on the pitch or anything like that.

"I didn't want to get in a crush. I basically stepped straight back."

Father-of-three Thomas Troop, 29, apologised and said he had been watching the match from the second row of seating. Problems arose when Grimsby scored their second goal.

"The only way to get out of trouble was to step over the barrier. I stood on the gravel on the other side of the barrier," he said.

"The previous week I had seen Manchester United play Hull. People broke their legs when they scored – I didn't want to be in that situation," added Troop of Danes Close, Grimsby.

And Daniel Fisher, 23, of Lime Grove, Humberston told the bench: "We scored and there was a massive surge of fans heading towards the front.

"The safest thing seemed to be to hop over, which is not the right thing. I stepped over for 20 or 30 seconds.

"It was an all seater but most of the fans were standing," he added.

All pleaded guilty to going onto the playing area at Notts County FC, Meadow Lane in breach of the Football Offences Act 1991.

Troop and Hines were fined Β£175, Taylor Β£170 and Fisher Β£136, all figures based on their income.

They must each pay Β£85 prosecution costs and a Β£30 government surcharge.

The quartet can apply to have the banning orders lifted after two years. Magistrates warmed that they risk prison if they defy the ban.

David Miles, prosecuting, said problems occurred when goals were scored. He applied for the Football Banning Orders, telling the magistrates: "You have to be satisfied there are reasonable grounds that it may prevent further violence or disorder."

Notts County FC declined to comment on the case.

What do you think about this story? Namely the comment which describes the away end as suffering from "bad organisation".

Yesterday was a brilliant day for me, not just because Notts won but I was introduced to a few new faces around Meadow Lane and on top of that my youngest daughter decided to keep me company (as Super_Pie refused to leave the house or should I say come off the Playstation) lol

Anywho, I also gave a series a pictures to two fans I have been taking pictures of at various games over the few seasons PON has operated.

Here's a parting picture for Granny and Super Ram.

PON's very own jack of all trades Notts-Joe took time out today ahead of Notts County v Leyton Orient - at Meadow Lane in order to speak with fans regarding what the Notts faithful think.

Questions: What have you made of Jon Stead so far this season? How much of an impact has Jon Sheridan had on Notts and do you have faith in him? How can Notts improve defensively and what would your midfield line-up be? and more.

If you would like to feature, get in touch! Feel free to submit potential questions below and we will look into asking them.

8 games into the season, which player has been the most disappointing signing of 2016/17? Do you see them improving?

Adam Collin or Michael O'Connor have been very disappointing.

Once fit, Michael O'Connor should improve but it is hard to see where Collin can. Just very average for this division.

Piethagoram is a bit late, so here are my thoughts:

Collin 6 – no difficult saves to make, but kicking and command of his area was a bit better.Β  Slowly improving.

Tootle 6.5 – looks suited to the wing back role, put himself about well.

Hollis 7 – kept things simple, good positionally, didn’t do a lot wrong.

Duffy 6.5 – solid performance in the middle of a back three.

Laing 6.5 – see Hollis, although knock a point off if his red card was for kicking the ball away.

Dickinson 7 – looked good defensively and going forwards.

RodmanΒ  5.5 – competed a bit better, but his forward threat was minimal.

O’Connor 6.5 – much better, more involved and gave us a bit of shape.

Milsom 5.5 – anonymous for much of the game, but stuck at it even though he seemed to be struggling late in the game.

Stead 8* - our only threat first half, another great goal out of nothing before he went off.

Forte 6 – hard to know his position, but he did look a threat at times.

Β

Collins 7.5 – Collins could be very good.Β Β  Pace, power, and a superbly cool finish for his goal.

Oliver 6 – good substitution, gave us an outlet when were under the cosh.

Richards 6.5 – nicely weighted pass to free Collins, really hope to see more of him.

Β

Overall a very enjoyable afternoon.Β  A pretty dull first half was followed by the sort of second half that makes it well worth the money.

Β

Positives:

We showed real fighting spirit after going down to 10 men.

Sheridan’s substitutions were spot on.

The crowd really woke up when we scored, we can create a good atmosphere if you give us something to cheer!

Jordan Richards – what a pleasure it was to see the son of a legend grace Meadow Lane.

A home win.

Within touching distance of the play-offs.

Above the Stags in the league.

Negatives:Β

Just the one, the fact that the destiny of the points could have been decided by the **** with a whistle rather than the 22 players on the pitch.Β  How he failed to award a penalty (and possible red card) for the foul on Collins is beyond me.Β  At least I can criticise him without it being called sour grapes.

At least some level of communication but surprised no mention of Raymundo returning as chairman, nor any indication of state of the sale / investment for future

So Luther Wildin has gone on loan to struggling Grantham Town for a month. Like Montel Gibson,Β I'm a little disappointed that he has been loaned out so low although he will be getting some football and hopefully this will only be for a month so he can then go somewhere higher up the pyramid to help with his development. People on here have spoken highly of him previously, so I would not like to see another promising youngster discarded from the club in favour of "experience".

Meadow Lane is a great groundΒ but why does Notts find it harder than most visiting clubs to get wins?

I have seen people on Twitter suggest that we need a better atmosphere but I think much of it goes down to the way we perform going into home games. Its a poor excuse to say its because of pressure, performance leading into some games have been better but the end result just as poor. Is Meadow Lane cursed? Do the players lack ambition at home? Its not a lack of cohesion as why would the 09/10 squad do better?

The lack of quality and relate able players to the NCFC community plays a part of it IMO.

Afternoon all

Saturday's Fixtures:
Blackburn Rovers v Rotherham United
Ipswich Town v Aston Villa
Port Vale v Gillingham
Sheffield United v Peterborough United
Barnet v Colchester United
WWycombe Wanderers v Stevenage

Collin 4 Another unconvincing performance. Misread chipped cross for their first and inexplicably stopped.

Laing 5 nice to have a defender comfortable on the ball

Tootle 5 Needed to put the foot in, which was needed today

Dickinson 5 good ball for Forte's goal.... got booked when ref got ball out decision hopelessly wrong

Duffy 5 out jumped for their first.Β

Hollis 5 suited and booted for Cheltenham's direct style

O'Connor 5 better game than his 2 previous no shows. Still remain unconvinced.Β

Milsom 5 more defensive than creative

Rodman 3 Anonymous again

Stead 7 Two class strikes

Forte 6 took his goal well. Got booked questioning another wrong decision by the ref

Subs:

Richards 6.5 Slotted in so well, no nerves, not a foot wrong. Pedro would have been proud

Oliver 5 Beginning to see what JS sees in him. Certainly does win headers

Collins 4 Energy but gave away needless free kick towards the end of extra time which put us under unnecessary pressure. Also needless offside for not running back when needed

The match day magazine used to be a great supplement to read, but I must say I am disappointed by the noticeably reduced quality.

I won't be shelling out Β£3 to buy it, that is for sure. What ever happened to the quality?
