  1. In order to try to bring a little positive news, just thought I would do a Youth Team update:

This morning at Arnold Town FC the young Magpies were at home to 'top of the table' Mansfield Town who have only suffered a single defeat this season.

After Friday night's embarrassing performance at Salford City FC we were looking for the youth team to play some decent football to help raise our spirits.  The few of us present at the game were 'entertained' by an ex player who left us in no doubt as to his views on the current squad of players, manager, coaches and owners - none of it complimentary.

Conditions were atrocious with heavy rain and a strong 'goal to goal' wind.  Notts had the advantage of the wind in the first half and used it well putting the young Stags under pressure early on.  After 18 minutes Notts took the lead when a good move was finished with a good shot into the far corner of the net by the left foot of Yohan Rutty-Smith.  On 28 minutes the Mansfield 'keeper, under pressure from a Notts player, dropped the ball at a corner and Nathan Cobain put it in from close range to give the young 'Pies a 2-0 half-time lead.

With Notts having to face the strong wind in the second half, the game was far from over.

In the second half Notts were initially under pressure but played superbly against the strong wind keeping the ball on the floor at all times and passing crisply.  Against the run of play, in the 73rd minute, a fine run by Luther Wildin ended with a fine pass to Yohan Rutty-Smith who curled a fine shot into the top corner for a 3-0 lead.  Notts continued to play well with the ball on the floor at all times and the game was rounded off when Alex Howes rounded off the scoring in the final minute for a convincing 4-0 win.

Of today's team, only three were second year scholars making it a very young team.

Before going out of the League Cup last Saturday Notts had won five consecutive games so today means they have won six games out of the last seven - not bad for a team who don't usually start in earnest until after their Christmas dinner!

  3. I hope you will join me and wish our very own @[member="magpiejue"] a happy birthday to cheer her up after yesterday's result.

    Happy birthday Julie.

  4. A trip to the North West for Notts on Friday night. We all know about Salford since there were taken over by the class of 92. There's even a weekly series on them on the BBC on Thursday nights.

Salford play in the Evo Stik League Premier Division. That's 3 levels below League 2. Salford are 4th in the table, 9 points behind the leaders but with 3 games in hand.

They lost 2-1 at Nantwich Town in the first qualifying round of the FA trophy last Friday. They made 9 changes to the side that drew 2-2 with Matlock Town in their last game so they obviously rested players with the Notts game in mind.

Salford have a few players with league experience. The best known is Danny Webber who played for Manchester United. They also have Stephen O Halloran who played for Villa. The main threat is striker James Poole. He has 8 goals in 11 games this season.

Salford like to play the ball on the ground but they don't shy away from the physical side of the game. Their preferred system seems to be 4-3-3 which works well for them based on their results.

Notts should win this game, no matter what side we field. Salford will come at us in the first 20 minutes but if they weather that storm, class will tell eventually. We cannot take Salford lightly. We have treat them as if they were Portsmouth or Plymouth.

I'm going for 3-0 to Notts and a place in the second round of the FA Cup.

  5. Let's all be honest here no lying we was Sh*** anyone who defends that you need spec savers and fast that was dire .

I don't mind losing if we have loads of shots an there keeper is pulling off worldies but I can't Rember him making a save .

Our plan was hey lets just hold the ball as far as we can kick it no effort no fight or passion to physce each other up.

I mean that second goal 4 players around him and he's embrassed them so easy they could of had 4-5 goals

Moniz didn't show no passion to get them kicking not at all Jenner is just a tw** FACT if he wants fight with fans do it somewhere else.

Campbell came on an looked like he wanted to try and he should of scored no excuse Steas is never a left Winger moniz it's simply obvious

Se Silva is a prince oh is my hair okay is it still in place

Noble not botherd to chase at all

Hewitt not interested at all first goal he saw the run stilled back so causal an showed no effort to busy a gut an try stop it his marker

McLeod just couldn't give a crap it's a where's my pay check at his view

Sheehan looked lost the whole defence were terrified

    And moniz should simply leave

It's okay though those Salford players have work at 9AM
maybe earlier Notts players can have a nice relaxing day off after a hard days work 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

  6. Just watching the goals on channel 5 and I see Alan Judge helped Brentford demolish Charlton with 2 assists and 1 goal, this follows 2 goals last week.

Nice to see ex players doing well.

  7. Hi all, I’m doing a university project on English Football Fans views on the Syrian Refugee crisis and I would like input from as many clubs in the football league on a survey I have created. It has 10 questions and only takes about 2-3 minutes to do but I would like as much input as possible.

    Thanks a lot,

@[member="tonyhateley"] that's close to you if you fancy a bit of exercise. We will be out in force from Wednesday onwards door knocking and leafleting etc...

Excellent Labour candidate for the district council (Donna Gilbert) and Michael Hollis for County.

  9. For those people who are sharing Britain First's posts on Facebook on the run up to Remembrance Day please be aware of what they stand for, the poppy represents those that fought against exactly what Britain First represents. Read this:

  10. Hi!

I'm a Chesterfield fan/journalism student in Sheffield. I attended the reserve fixture at the Proact Stadium today which Notts County won 5-3 and I thought you may enjoy my report and gallery from the afternoon.

    Any comments are appreciated!

    Thank you!

  11. apparently at the end of the game Izale was celebrating Infront of the Portsmouth fans as due to the abuse he was getting off them.

Acoding to there fans people said he did the wanker sign to them I didn't see Izale do this at all I can see him celebrating Infront of them tho.

And I don't blame him for it if you get stick of away fans you give it back in my view but did anyone else see this cause I didn't

  12. According to the bookies, Portsmouth are odds on favourites to win L2 this season and so far they haven't disappointed. They are 2nd in the table with 28 points (9 more than Notts). They have scored 22 goals (3 more than Notts) and conceded 12 (a massive 10 less than Notts).

Portsmouth drew 0-0 at home to Mansfield in their last game. They didn't create many chances. Portsmouth actually have a better away record. They are unbeaten on the road in the league this season. 5 wins and 2 draws. That's impressive.

Portsmouth have a very strong squad. They have quality in every position. Their danger man is Matt Tubbs. He has 5 goals so far this season. They also have real quality in Conor Chaplin & Gary Roberts. In fact there is a threat from every position on the pitch.

Notts haven't beaten any of the sides above us in the table. Of the teams in the playoff places as of last Saturday, our record is won none, 1 draw & 4 defeats. That is shocking and needs to change if we are to have any chance of challenging for promotion.

Portsmouth play good football. Notts can't allow them to play good football. They have to be knocked off their stride. We have to play for 90 minutes and not the usual 70 minutes.

I don't see Notts getting anything out of this game. I don't believe we are tactically astute enough to get a result. I'll go for 2-1 to Pompey. Izzy with the goal.

  13. It's @[member="hissingdwarf"] birthday today, nice present from Notts yesterday eh mate?

Happy birthday hope you have a great day.

  14. I watched the cup final between Arsenal and our lady pies, I thought it was a real shame the ref gave a red card for a pretty tame tackle and it spoilt the game.

That said even with 10 ladies (I was going to say 10 men) I thought they played really well and didn't deserve to lose 3-0, they had lots of chances but were very unlucky.

Well done ladies hold your heads high.

  15. I want to say thank you to everyone who has made me member of the month.

Even thank you to Dripsey for his sarcastic comments which is taken in good banter but just to everyone in a whole.

As everyone on here are top class 🏆🏆👍🏻 see you all at Northamphton at home

  16. As you can all see by the title, I'm very confused by the obsession with Jimmy Spencer that many fans clearly have. He is clearly incapable of fitting into our style of play or making any impact when he plays. He got a decent run out against Orient and had a very poor game - few headers won, many minutes spent on the floor moaning and I think he had no shots all half. He got subbed on on Saturday against Exeter and yes, he only got about 5-10 minutes, but that was enough time for him to show that he should be let go. No pace, no strength, no real determination to win a ball (McLeod can also be lazy but he always gets in good positions) and no attacking runs. He has, however, a decent touch but only when he feels like it. He is the kind of player who relies on a slow playstyle and a fast striker alongside. Let him go to a club that suits him and free up some space for Ronan Murray, Filip Valencic and the other attackers we have that suit our game much better. Not to mention that Snijders and Kyle De Silva (wingers by nature that could also play up top) are rotting on our bench for whatever reason.

  17. This is just me now but why do most younger lads my age 20-30s wear all this Stone Island Burberry etc etc to make a statement of acting hard or tough .

I just don't understand why anyone would want to wear this to think you're a big man

I mean it's basically a clothing item that singles you out even if you're not a thug and says hey I wanna scrap even if you don't realise it.

  18. @[member="Dripsey3"] you're a good bloke and we have some decent debates you're my new sparring partner nothing bad.

I think you're a good bloke everyone has a partner they have a spar with end of the day were both black and white though 👍🏻👍🏻

This is a compliment aswell just in case you think wrong

  19. Has anyone carved any pumpkins ready for today? Show PoN a photo of your pumpkins...

What is everyone doing for halloween?

  20. Sorry to say people but I told you my glass was half full and we would beat Pompey and we did ⚽️⚽️.

Now I have a full glass I don't care if we deserved to win or not the FACT is we did we beat 2nd in the league I don't see why we really can't beat anyone on our day.

4 points off the playoffs now along way to go but again I told you all I was right I will accept any apologies for those who laughed when I said we would win .

Happy Halloween My MAGPIES let's celebrate 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

  21. This will be live on the BBC. We are ball number 30. My preferred draw is at home to Maidstone Utd. (if they make it) or FC United Of Manchester (if they make it) as it would be their first game ever in the first round proper of the FA Cup. Their opponents Sporting Khalsa started in the preliminary round and have made it all the way to the final qualifying round. I think they play at level 9 in the football league. It would be some achievement if they made it to the first round proper.

  22. Saturday's fixtures:
    Ipswich Town v Cardiff City
    Reading v Brighton
    Coventry City v Peterborough United
    Walsall v Gillingham
    Leyton Orient v Accrington Stanley
    Mansfield Town v Wycombe Wanderers
