  5. This Saturday's Fixtures:
    Bristol City v Reading
    Rotherham United v Cardiff City
    Coventry City v Chesterfield
    Swindon Town v Burton Albion
    Barnet v Stevenage
    York City v Carlisle United

Don't forget your jokers! Good luck

  6. So now we have seen it around for a while, how are we all liking the new shirt designs?

I had a meeting in Nottm Centre so I nipped in this pm to check again. Still not sure on the big red sponsorship label! (Although from what I gather it is a seriously good sponsorship deal so it's worth it!)

I have asked them to order in a ladies version in a mans size for me! Much more discreet sponsor and exact same shirt!

  7. It will be good to get back to playing the genuine Dons after a few seasons having to put up with playing the fake Dons.

Wimbledon are 2 points ahead of us in the table. They have scored in all of their league games up to now. They have scored 8 goals in 7 games and conceded 9 goals. Their home form isn't great, 1 win and 2 defeats, but both those losses are to promotion contenders (Plymouth and Cambridge).

Wimbledon are very similar to Morecambe. They are a well managed side. They are physical and play a high tempo game. Their talisman is the beast aka Adebayo Akinfenwa. He doesn't move around much but is a deadly finisher. He's going to pose a new sort of challenge for our back 4. The Dons will be a constant danger from set pieces. If we defend these badly, it will be a long day at the office.

I think this game will tell us how much we have come from that battering at Morecambe. Let's see if we have learned the lessons. I think we have and I reckon we will grind out a 2-1 win. Izzy and Noble.

  8. Does this lad deserve more of a try in the first team? He seems to be doing well in the reserve team, pre season and when he gets a game.

  9. Before the start of the season, this would have been seen as a battle between promotion favourites. If you said Notts would be 22nd and Luton 17th at this stage, the fans would have laughed at you, but that is the reality of it.

Luton won their first league game last weekend. They are still in the JPT and only lost on penalties to Stoke in the LC so they have shown glimpses of how good they can be.

Their main threat is Craig Mackail Smith but they have quality throughout their side. Danny Green in Midfield is a real threat. Liam Noble is back and it couldn't come at a better time.

This has the makings of an absolute cracker. Goals galore I feel, but I think Luton are in a better place than us right now. I'll go for 3-2 to Luton. Izzy with both goals for us.

  10. Another new member has joined the ranks, a big welcome to @Notts26, I hope you enjoy the forum.

  12. Just a quick show of hands so to speak.

Has anyone ever won anything on Lifeline?

I ritually check every week and still no joy!

Worthwhile cause and all and won't stop it. Just wondering!

  13. It's back, with some changes that I hope you all like!

Your feedback is always appreciated, so let me know what you like/dislike about the changes, or have any ideas on how it can be improved.

  14. Due to the fact its an international weekend there are of course no championship fixtures this weekend. So instead of the usual two fixtures from each division there are three from league one and three from league two.

    Saturday's Fixtures:

    Chesterfield v Wigan Athletic

    Fleetwood Town v Rochdale

    Scunthorpe United v Blackpool

    Cambridge United v Luton Town

    Mansfield Town v AFC Wimbledon

    Stevenage v Plymouth Argyle

  15. Apologies if this has ready been mentioned but I've just noticed we've reached another milestone on PoN 500 members have now joined the family

    :clapping:

  16. Please join me in wishing @[member="Dripsey3"] a very happy birthday. No doubt 3 points will be his best present.

  17. I'm pleased to say that Borussia have decided to donate €1 for every ticket sold for the Champions League game at home to Man City. Given UEFA restrictions this means €46000.

  18. Saturday's Fixtures:
    Leeds United v Brentford
Preston North End v Derby County
    Fleetwood Town v Bradford City
    Walsall v Doncaster Rovers
    Northampton Town v Oxford United
    Yeovil Town v AFC Wimbledon

  19. What a game young Jack Grealish had for Villa against Liverpool today. How I wish we had him in the squad now.

  20. So, picking up my old style of these threads, memories of plastic pitches aside - what does Luton Town remind us of.  For me, ID cards, David Pleat hop-skipping-jumping with Brian Horton, exective boxes that looked like a bus shelter, and - obscurely - Rob "hot prospect from Loughborough university studying Geography" Matthews netting a brace against them towards the end of 91-92.  This was part of our easter revival where we beat Coventry and Norwich in a mini-run, but ultimately was fruitless and simply helped drag Luton down with us to the "new" Division One.

So, onto the players.  It look a bit of thought this week, but there must be quite a few players that have played for both clubs?  Luton are a lot older than i'd realised so some players must have been shared over the years?

At the moment I can only offer gk Kevin Pilkington!

  21. Hi @laura4jamie27 :waving:

Welcome to PoN, you will find we are a very friendly crowd, why not pop on here and say hello, we don't bite..........well most of us don't anyway

  22. Good morning all, this may be my last offering for a while as we are off on our jollies again.

We are firstly off down to Norfolk to meet up with around 50 odd people in 35 Motorhomes for a get together then on Sunday me and Mrs H are heading to the Isle of Wight for a week or so to soak up some sun (we hope).

So if you are going to the Lane on Saturday give them a cheer for me .YOUPIES !!

  23. Morning all, a bit grey and overcast here today and there is certainly an autumnal nip in the air.

The kids have gone to school and nursery, quite frankly we were glad to see George go because since he came back from his holidays he seems to be really naughty, I think he needs a bit of Grandad and Granny rules being reimposed, hopefully when he gets back into a routine he will settle back down into the nice little lad he can be when the mood takes him.

Not much going on today, we have to do a big shop at Aldi and then get a few things from Asda that they don't sell at Aldi, might start sorting out the van ready for our holiday which starts at the weekend, you can't get enough holidays in my opinion, no wonder that dwarf chap calls me Judith (Chalmers).

  24. Morning all, a little late this morning, we've been busy our grandsons came early at 7.30 so needed breakfast and taking to school and nursery. Thankfully the day is our now until 3pm, I've got some housework to do whilst Mrs. H. is computer bound earning us some money hopefully.

It's another nice day and the forecast is good so I might also get out in the garden to do some much needed weeding, apart from that we haven't got much else on.

How is your day panning out, have you got anything special planned?
