  1. The heavens opened during the night. The thunder rolled. The dog hates thunder and around 1am I felt the wet nose nudging me, I could have got up but I just told her to jump in, she didn't need a second invitation! Thunder Buddies for life.....

  2. I was going to post this after the last round:

Then last night, we had this:

Celtic are a great club with a fantastic tradition. Incidents like the above sully the good name of the club. Leigh Griffiths is a fine player but because he's top dog in Scotland, he seems to think he's Messi or someone!

Scott Brown is a fine midfielder but his actions let him down. Arrogance has crept into the Celtic players since the demise of Rangers. There's no one to really challenge their dominance.

  3. A lovely sunny morning here, today is moving day for us on our camping holiday, we are moving to our last stop which is just outside York with a nice walk down the river bank into the town centre.

    Have a good day everyone.

  4. Will he be up for tonight? Former player returning so soon after being releases, will this encourage the best out of him. Also, after Saturday he may want to score again and his confidence could be useful.

  5. This is not the same interview from the PONcast folks, this is another unique and exclusive interview (totally a different set of questions).

    Have a watch please folks.

  6. First port of call, I will throw one obvious and that being Jack Grealish. Yet, I can name a further 6 players/coaches.

    I won't,

Instead I will by adding Martin O'Neil.

  7. Hey folks,

I recently read Notts County: On This Day, a comprehensive account of our beloved club’s history archived into entries for each day of the year.

I was incredibly impressed with not only how well researched this book is, but also how informative and entertaining it is to read. I'd go as far to say that all Notts fans need this book in their library.

I've posted a review of this book, and I must say I can't sing its praises highly enough. Tim Evershed, the Nottingham-based writer, has done a fantastic job researching all the information and compiling it into an easy to read, entertaining and thoroughly informative tome.

Here's the link to the review, please check it out and, if you like the look of the book, have a look on http://www.pitchpublishing.co.uk for further information.

  8. I am hearing some of the signings Moniz didn't want, which leads me to think this could be why he's struggling to settle the squad down. Looking back at interviews, some players said they hadn't even met, scene or spoken to Moniz!! So how are these his players? can this explain why some are not to be seen near the first team?

It really makes me wonder, will Moniz master this Notts squad?

    Opinions?

  9. Moniz reveals striker dispute with head of recruitment Branston.

"In front of the chairman, Guy Branston says we don't need a striker instead of confirming we need one or two forwards, you understand?

His job is to recruit or scout. It's about the club, not about egos who sometimes are busy for themselves. I always say how it is. You can't talk with two faces. The composition of the team is my responsibility".

Moniz wants a striker, we fans think a CB would be a wise move and yet Branston wants two forwards? (Wingers? Attacking CMs???) - It should be down to Ricardo to decide, he works with the players and it must be him who says what positions are our targeted positions are. It's for Guy to recommend players, right?

What do you make of this? Do you think these things should remain private? What is Guy Branston thinking?

    Lets discuss on PON...

  10. Sorry it's a day late, completely forgot yesterday. Poor form I know!

    hope your well.

  12. The bookies and experts say Accrington will be struggling against relegation this season. Mind you, they say that every season and Accrington are still in League 2. No wonder they are called the club that wouldn't die.

Accrington have got off to a decent start, 4 points from 9. Luton were lucky to escape with a draw and they beat Mansfield. They lost 1-0 at Morecambe, another relegation favourite.

Accrington are one of those teams where the sum of their parts is better than their individual parts. Their manager John Coleman is one of the best in the division. They have scored 3 and conceded 3 so far.

Accrington knocked us out of the FA Cup last season. They drew at ML and beat us 1-0 at home.

What can we expect tomorrow? I think it will be a tight game. I think Notts will win but it may take time to break them down. I'm going for a 1-0 win. Stead to break his duck. If we can't keep a clean sheet against Accrington then I fear the worst to be honest.....

  13. Everyone's gotta eat!!!

So no more telling kids off for doing it as it seems its just a natural evolution!

  14. Superb idea imo! I'm sure the dogs agree.

Every year, Lakeview Park in Nampa, Idaho, holds a “Pooch Pool Party†day where all dogs are invited to enjoy the public water park before it closes. This dogs-only event allows the pups to run around and play in the water while their humans watch.

  15. Not for me to work this one out but what a mess we are in. I think we have a good manager, he is experienced & well equipped but i cannot help thinking that there is something wrong, somewhere ???.

Am i imagining it ???, but we have a decent squad, on paper at least, but there is just something not right !,is the manager being held back or is this GB thing just the tip of the iceberg ?.

I never thought that i would say this but the Trew's seem to be doing 21.gif right for a wrong, maybe they are the problem ??, vastly inexperienced & going the opposite way that Dunnett / Pavis ? Warnock/ Jimmy & Jack did. Listening to a conversation in the navvy post match & something was bandied about by a group that more or less said that there was a problem in the past with the funds that had been raised for the J&J, money not being there or available to pay the bills, vague but interesting.

The club at the moment is lacking clear leadership, that is quite evident with the Nottm Post debacle, i fear that Moniz will walk away pretty soon and that would put us out of the Football League.

  16. Yesterday Notts' Youth team travelled to play Burton Albion at The Defence 6th Form College at Woodhouse, a lovely set up with a number of excellent pitches - a 28 mile trip for the Burton players - but only 6 miles for me!

It looked a tough game in prospect with Burton the early league leaders with maximum points from two games while Notts had none from their 1-0 defeat at Doncaster a fortnight earlier.

Notts put out a young team with six of the starting eleven being first year scholars.  They gave a good account of themselves though with goalmouth chances at both ends but the teams went for their half-time drink with the score still 0-0.

The second half saw Notts, with the slight wind in their favour, have more of the play.  It was therefore disappointing on the 67th minute when Burton scored and within three minutes had a second when a shot from the edge of the area went in off the underside of the bar - a cracking goal if you were supporting Burton!

So a poor start to the season for Notts with no points and no goals from their first two games - but a long way to go.

Nothing on our website yet, but according to the lads' parents Notts are away next week at York - in the cup.

  17. I just realized I put the wrong date on yesterday's thread! Ooops.....

Today I'm happy that Usain Bolt beat Justin Gatlin in the 100m final. Gatlin was banned twice for drugs and having him win the marquee event at the WC would send out the wrong message at a time athletics is reeling from drug allegations.

Also I got to see Phil Taylor's 9 darter in Sydney. Never get tired of 9 darters.
