It's about time we had some players with the right mentality, I believe we have a few driven professional players amongst the squad especially since January onwards, hopefully we can bring a few more in through the summer with this ethos and we'll be challenging, a mixture of youth and experience, different types of players as well, we need a star player a high quality game changing goalscorer, we can't rely on Amoebi/Stead all season if they're both here next season..

Jon Stead has given a lengthy interview to the Daily Mail as part of their last EFL Q&A of the season.
If you wanted to know all the nitty gritty about the striker's best and worst moments in football, his hardest opponents, and of course, his guilty food pleasure, look no further.
Here it is: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4475930/EFL-Q-Jon-Stead-opens-up.html
Have a read and let's discuss the finer points of what he's had to say - plenty of interesting material in there.

i agree with @TheFostarr94, we need to see passion and the right mentality.
When I had Netflix I really become immersed in a TV show called Jericho. I found the series late, so I ended up watching them all in a row back-to-back before I went on holiday a few years ago. It was a great show, yet the final episode really ruined the enjoyment level. Since then, I miss shows like 'Heroes' which I was glued to watching - in fact I would have to get back from work in time to watch and I hate missing it!
After the first season it went down hill, I recall them messing around with the time slot and I think it aired after Match of the Day (too late for me then). ![]()
Even shows like The Addams Family, Bewitched, The Munsters are all things I used to enjoy (yes Bewitched was before my time, I enjoyed watching re-runs with @GrannyPie.

So we have just one game left of the 2016-17 League Two season, with Notts County travelling to Newport County for what is likely to be a nerve-wracking 90 minutes - for the hosts.
The Magpies have nothing to play for at Rodney Parade except the chance to leapfrog Barnet into 15th place, but given where we were just three months ago, a nice relaxing end to the campaign is very much a blessing, with the club certain of League Two football next season.
So now's the time to ask - what has been your favourite moment this season and why?

Played 2 lost 2 . Sprockel and De Silva played in both games. I liked Ricardo but he does seem to have a blind spot towards the defensive side of things

Notts County decided to hold a firework display ahead of their final home game of the League Two season against Blackpool on Saturday.
With the players lined up on the Meadow Lane pitch not far from the touchline in front of the Derek Pavis stand, they had their backs turned to the display on the centre circle.
And right at the end, loud explosion from the cannons startled both sets of players, some of whom visibly flinched - cue much amusement from the crowd.

Cheers mate, the views have been a little disappointing but I think YouTube has gotten stuck with this video. It should have closer 200, I'm certain!

Thanks Lewis, keep watching.
On this day in 1981 Notts County sealed promotion to the top flight after goals from Trevor Christie and Rachid Harkouk at a hostile Stamford Bridge saw them claim a 2-0 win over Chelsea.
With the game having been 36 years ago, there isn't much media around on the interwebnet, but I've dug around and found several audio and video clips of it.
Here's the television report on ITN (as far as I know this is as much as there is in terms of video highlights).
Here are the final 10 or so minutes of radio commentary by Brian Tansley and Terry Bowles on Radio Trent (credit to KorkInNotts for the video).
And here is a link to a short clip of Colin Slater commentating on Harkouk's goal.

It's quite clear that Kevin Nolan is already tracking summer targets with much of the focus being spread out across the leagues, we are being linked with in form Non-League strikers and rumoured to be scouting Premiership youngsters.
Our own squad is thinning all the time as of late, there's no surprise there.
I'm interested to see how the budget can spread, however I hope we keep our numbers to around 25/26 players. There's no doubt the targets will have to be of the quality to make the first time, I think this explains as to why we are seeing certain players released (Audel/McMillan). Whilst I think its a shame, without a reserve squad there's little point overspending and in League Two its a luxury.
Don't get me wrong, I am all for the future and I am disappointed with the release of the latest youngsters but it does make sense. I can see what Kevin Nolan is trying to do/going about doing.
Hopefully the 2017-18 squad is one which has League Two quality within it, with some promising talent from the elite academies and of course players who are going to appreciate a chance at league football. I think the balance will be right under Nolan, for me it will be a question of securing the targets that can make all the difference. It's going to be tough next season! There's a lot of quality coming down.
How do you think Kevin Nolan will go about recruiting? Are you happy with the rumours? Thoughts on tracking Non-League strikers?
Discuss below. COYP!

As the season comes to it's conclusion , thankfully we are safe , so our attention turns to the future and who will be part of it , learnt a short while ago T Audell's time with Notts is over , good luck for the future .

I would like just one season where the focus on Notts was purely for footballing reasons. I thought after the Trews sold up things may improve which to a point it has, yet the ladies and some of the antics on Twitter just makes me wished Notts could get their priories correct. The promise under Kevin Nolan does look good, yet I just feel Alan Hardy is falling into the traps that the previous regime did.
Am I the only Notts fan who feels this way?
Just one season can we please just focus on the football.

Thierry Audel appears to be the first player who's confirmed his future at Notts after he posted the following message on Twitter this morning:
"My NCFC adventure comes to an end, what great time! It's sad not to be part of the future plan but thank you to all fans and all the best."
The French defender is one of a number of players who are out of contract in the summer, but is understood to have been told he will not be getting a new deal.
Do you think this is a good call by Notts? Should Audel have been offered a new contract or are you happy to see him go?
Let PON know!

Hope everyone's well back in blighty, if the weathers half as nice as it is here in Turin you'll be topping up them tans.
Shame Notts lost yesterday, listened to the match from my hotel room and to be fair it sounded like we gave them a good game, at least we're safe. I guess it just emphasies the point that we do definitely need a lot of changes over the Summer.
Was up at 3:30am yesterday morning for a 6:45 flight to Turin. We got here in time to check into our hotel and enjoy a pizza in the main piazza in the sunshine for dinner.
The evening was a special evening.
Those of you who know Andy Black either personally or just through social emdia will be aware of all of the work he does with the Italian Magpies, and in particular over the past few weeks, he has put a lot of time and effort into making sure the memory of Tom Savage - the gentleman who first brought the famous black and white stripes from Nottingham to Turin back in 1903 is not forgotten. There is a museum at the stadium, and today a plaque will be enveiled commemorating Mr Savage's work, and the birth of the link between two historic clubs. Remarkably, two of Tom Savage's Grandchildren have joined us in Turin to be present for today's unveiling. Last night we dined out with them and dscussed all things football, and discussed at great length their great grandfathers life. It was a fascinating evening, and it was genuinely surreal to think that there were 9 of us - 7 from England, 1 Italian and 1 South African sat there all because of one man.
They all know the story of Notts County over here. Just in the last 2 days I've had many comments from locals when they see me and the others out in our Notts shirts. It's no secret that Italian football fans are quite resentful towards Engish supporters, but for Notts fans, the vast majority of Juventus fans genuinely make an exception. To them it's quite odd. They're so used to being hated wherever they go that they struggle to get their heads around the fact that fans of another club from another country have an interest in them.
Tonight promises to be a special occasion, with the family members and Andy being invited into the famous Agnelli club to enjoy the game in the comany of Juve's top brass. And of course the main event will be tonight's big game as Juventus look to take another step towards an astonishing sixth straight serie a title, which would see this team write their names into football legend.
Forza Juve! You Pies!

agree with the post above, i though we controlled the game and was unlucky not to have scored more.
I expected more from Blackpool but credit to us for nullifying their threat and attacking well, unlucky not to have scored more, glad to see we wasn't in holiday mode..
Sounds like I missed a treat then. I'm sad I couldn't go but on the plus side I was plied with free pork pies! I'll be in town again in August and this time everything will revolve around the football ![]()
By the sound of it this performance was a marked contrast to our last home game of last season, a 5-0 spanking by Carlisle. Hopefully that's a good sign.

with joe searson being pushed and scott loach looking all the more likely to leave, would you prefer someone else to replace adam collin? i think if we aim for promotion he needs to go, he does not convince me and he never seems to be vocal enough. for me this should be one of the main positions we need to cover as early as possible because i think we will lose points with him in goal.
even if we tighten up the defence, i just dont we would see a difference.

Last night I was in the pub with some family members...all forest fans trying to rib me, unsuccessfully may I add. Which got me thinking, who does my fellow PON users family support?
My family on my mum's side:
Grandad, Uncle Andy and Dave, Andy's daughter, all follow Forest, they tried to get me to follow Forest as a kid but it just wasn't for me, Notts always fascinated me.
Family on my Dad's side: Dad supports Forest, Uncle Raymond supports Notts and a few others on that side are Wolves but I don't know them that well.
11 year old brother is a Notts fan, you can thank me later..
My Nan's brother and his sons live(d) in Manchester and follow United (booo) and Bury.

So yesterday we were faced with the news that Colin Slater would be stepping down from doing Notts County match commentary on BBC Radio Nottingham.
As much of a bombshell as it is, the show must go on, and someone needs to step up to the plate and take over Magpie commentating duties starting next season.
In your opinion, who should it be? Let PON know.
