I found this fascinating, I already knew a fair bit but this documentary goes quite in-depth. Many fans seem to forget that Accrington Stanley was one of the first clubs to play football, yet this highlights their struggles and ambition to grow further.

Well worth the watch.

It looks like Kevin Nolan has his preferred players which every manager does, but am I the only one who believe that half of the squad cannot perform due to fitness for a full 90 minutes? I honestly feel there should be more squad rotation.

Who was your man of the match for Notts County against Accrington Stanley?

I have a desperate request on here. My cousin's husband-to-be is organising a stag do in Dortmund, flights are already booked. Five of them want to see Borussia Dortmund v Mönchengladbach on 23 September. Trouble is, they haven't got tickets and don't know how to get them! I've offered to help but tickets aren't a problem for the teams I support...

I looked on their website and it appears that tickets went on sale to members today, but won't be going on general sale. Which would leave them at the mercy of ebay, viagogo or touts. The club's own secondary ticket market might be the answer, but they'd rather not leave it that long.

Does anyone here have any contacts or information on getting hold of tickets? @ivansneck maybe?

Today is that old notorious chestnut, GCSE results day, so I hope all our fans who sat them this year have done well! Likewise for A-level results earlier this month.

Anybody want to talk about their results, or those of a younger relative who got them this month, let's hear how you did!

Also, those whose results came some years ago, share your stories about what you remember from the day and how you got on post-results!

This is the type of 'Notts County' we want to see right? A hard-working side which fights for the pride and plays with passion?? What a fantastic difference Kevin Nolan has our club under. Let's hope it continues for a long time to come!

What's your preferred browser?

Today I've experienced some pretty major issues with Google Chrome, on my laptop I prefer to use Firefox but my desktop - it has Chrome running and I thought I would give it a fair chance to become my default browser. This has been discussed in the past, however I feel it's relevant to now and I'm curious if anyone has changed or switched?

Desktop: Chrome (hopefully Facebook continues to work on it)
Mobile: Chrome (I used to have Opera but it's rapidly declined)

Laptop: Firefox - I have everything setup, speed is fine and I can't really be bothered with customising it. I also miss the way you can configured it, Chrome is very sleek but simple. What about you? What browsers do you use?

Alan Hardy has put a fair bit of investment into Notts despite reportedly running at a considerable loss.

The club has state of the art changing rooms [which looks awesome I must say].

The indoor training facility which has been branded as "Championship quality".

The Meadow Lane pitch being relaid and worked on at a cost of 100k.

Further work behind the scenes from the signage around Meadow Lane, to the actual stands.

Do you think Alan Hardy will continue to invest if the results don't continue on the pitch? This would be a welcoming sign since the last owner clearly lost interest in the club and decided to pull out on the improvements. I also feel that this type of investment creates a buzz around the club, which should help to bring back fans and encourage the players that the club is moving forward. Some are massive in comparison to smaller changes, but isn't it all part of the parcel off football? Thoughts?

Already we know that several changes in football are being discussed by the game's lawmakers in this country, such as a free kick taker being able to take more than one touch from any given set piece, and stopping the clock rugby-style when the ball goes out of play, then ending the game at 90 minutes.

But here's a gem I've found on Twitter (courtesy of @dwafc_). Almost as radical as "added time multi-ball" (if anyone remembers that old American p**s-water advert from 10-odd years ago).

On Facebook I'm part of several satirical news groups that post stories with cracking (or c**ppy, depending on your perspective) headlines, with the stories themselves clearly filler from some local newspaper.

i think we do and i think its time more people tried to be constructive rather than negative nellies!

In another move that will pretty much end up alienating English football fans further, the draw for the third round of the EFL/League/Carabao Cup will take place on Thursday - at 4:15am BST.

This is because the draw will be made in Beijing.

Normally I'd leave it open to discussion and shirk from adding my opinion, but come on, this is ridiculous. It's a competition being played in England (or Wales, if Cardiff/Swansea/Newport play at home), where 99.99% of the fans going to watch the games will be based in the UK. What the hell are they thinking??

Notts County have had some great managers over the years (and many c**p ones, but we'll not talk about these!).

But besides from the top man Jimmy Sirrel and the other usual suspects who have done well with the club (Neil Warnock, Sam Allardyce, Steve Cotterill) what other gaffers who may not have had as much recognition do you rate particularly highly?

The "slug" celebration from Matt Tootle in Notts County's win over Wycombe has gone Twitter famous.

Honestly can't understand the meaning of it. I mean, I've done that before, but usually it's when I go through the front door at 4am on a Sunday morning eight pints and five double rum and cokes deep.

Collin 4 Yet another unconvincing performance. Seemingly, every time he takes the field, I never have any confidence that we will keep a clean sheet. Again failure to release the ball in the first half with 2 free players on the left. His kicks had an right wing swerve. Wycombe's equaliser was so predictable, he should have had someone on the line for Jacobsen's free kick. He has been around years, so you cant say Collin wasn't forewarned. 

Tootle 5 Comfortable 1st half but all change in the 2nd. Stuck to his task

Duffy 6 Lead the line well.               )

Brisley 6 never easy with the Beast. ) Duffy and Brisley knew what to expect  and generally were up to the task. However on 3 occasions the Beast  got into good positions unchallenged, so defensive failings remain

Jones 4 Despite his positive contributions, in terms of delivery, he was extremely fortunate to remain on the pitch. A straight Red would have been more than justified having followed through after losing the ball in the first half. Seem to remember O'Connor getting his marching orders last season at home for a similar challenge

Yates 5   )

Hewitt 5 ) When you are behind the goal, its difficult to gauge their effectiveness as a pairing. Effort yes, but lacking a real cutting edge today

Hawkridge 5.5 Always chasing and closing down. Took a knock to the nose in 2nd half, bloodied and had to be taken off after that

Grant 6 Overall play maybe justifies why he isnt in the Championship...but glimpses of individual skills when needed, especially at 2-2, creates openings to be exploited

Ameobi 7 Ability to be a target man and bring others into play. Rightfully lauded after the final whistle

Stead 4 Dreams of America fading fast

Forte 7 Perhaps Nolan has got him finally mentally right..Came on and made a difference through his movement along the line. Certainly got "stuck in" where it mattered

Alessandra 6 Not much time but got in to get the 4th following countless rebounds

I think Newark Pie had described on Twitter my Chesterfield ratings as harsh... However one has to make the point that Nolan is making the team a sum greater than its individual parts. Early days, but one can see tactically Big Sam's ideas of pressing in the final 3rd, so you feed off the mistakes of the opposition. Hawkridge embodies this philosophy, not the greatest in skill but with a Warnockesque workrate. Nolan also noticeable for the 2 lines of 4 tactics, to compress space when not in possession

Based on 6/10 as an average, competent performance.

Collin - 6.5 - Saved us a couple of times and looked solid. Moaning about his distribution is harsh, he did the right thing at the right time.
Tootle - 6 - Looked sound defensively, didn't get forward a lot.
Jones - 6 - Better defensively, forward play and set pieces were mixed.
Duffy - 6 - Did what he was there to do.
Brisley - 6 - Better than at Coventry, hopefully he can build on this.

Hawkridge - 6.5 - Worked hard, good involvement for a wide midfielder.
Allesandra - 6 - Some good bits, but anonymous at times.
Hewitt - 6 - Won plenty of challenges but needs to use the ball better when in space.
Yates - 6 - A bit indecisive at times but still promising.

Ameobi - 6 - Great touch, always offered a target.
Stead - 6 - Average performance, but did keep their defence occupied.

Subs:

Grant - 7* - Gave us the touch of class we needed. I've deducted a point for his silly booking. He was lucky to escape a yellow at Coventry for a petty kick at the keeper. Cut out the petulance Jorge, because we need you on the pitch.
Forte - 6 - Got into some good positions, but let down by his first touch.
Walker - 6 - Steady for the short time he was on.

To be honest that was a pretty unimpressive but very welcome 3 points. I thought the performance of the officials was bizarre, they seemed to get a lot wrong and if anything their incompetence worked in our favour for once. I didn't see the first Ugwu incident, but a bloke near me was adamant he had elbowed Hewitt off the ball. The lino took an age to raise his flag, so I don't know how much he actually saw even though he was only a few yards away. Him and the ref had a discussion, then Ugwu was shown yellow. If it was a deliberate elbow then either the lino saw it and should have told the ref it was a sending off offence, or he didn't see it and Ugwu escapes unpunished. It was either a straight red or play on. The red card he did issue just before the break looked harsh in the extreme. I don't see how it was classed as denying a goalscoring opportunity at all. Maybe he was making up for his earlier error. I also thought that Stead was pushed to the ground when he was one on one with the keeper, which would have been a penalty and red card. Also the ref issued yellow cards for fouls that were softer than some he let go. Hopefully replays can clear a few things up. I have to admit leaving the ground with the impression that neither team will be involved at the upper end of the table.
