  6. Our attention now switches to the Capital One Cup, and opponents Huddersfield... there pre season has been a bit of a mixed bag, and they opened up with a 2-0 defeat away at Hull City.

The last time the two teams met was in January 2012 at the lane, with the match ending in a 2-2 draw, with a goal each for the Hughes's, Jeff and Lee.

Here we are looking for connections between the clubs, be it coaching/managing and players....

I will start us off with Sam Allardyce and Jimmy Spencer

As a side note I have just noticed that his name actually contains the word lard ... no wonder he is known as fat sam

  7. I'm getting increasingly concerned about our ever-growing squad, but this one sounds genuinely good ...

  8. I just went on facebook, I stumbled across this post by PON. I am surprised nobody posted it here!!

Bad news! It's being reported that â€ª#‎Notts‬ duo Jon Stead and Liam Noble are likely to miss tomorrow's game against Mansfield due to injury.

What are your thoughts on this? Who should come in if either are unable to feature in the local derby game?

    Let PON know...

What do you make of this?

  9. Feels like the end of a long week. I need to take a few days off work at the end of August. Recharge the batteries.

  11. Those who have tried this will appreciate it.

    1. Pick up cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat’s mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand… As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

    2. Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.

    3. Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.

    4. Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm, holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.

    5. Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse from garden.

    6. Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat’s throat vigorously.

    7. Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later…

    8. Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw.

    9. Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans, drink 1 beer to take taste away. Apply Band-Aid to spouse’s forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

    10. Retrieve cat from neighbor’s shed. Get another pill. Open another beer. Place cat in cupboard, and close door onto neck, to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.

    11. Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Drink beer. Fetch bottle of scotch. Pour shot, drink. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus shot. Apply whiskey compress to cheek to disinfect. Toss back another shot. Throw Tee shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

    12. Call fire department to retrieve the cat from across the road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat. Take last pill from foil wrap.

    13. Tie the little bastard’s front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table, find heavy-duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of fillet steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour 2 pints of water down throat to wash pill down.

    14. Consume remainder of scotch. Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room, sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.

    15. Arrange for SPCA to collect mutant cat from hell and call local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.

  13. When I made my way down to Meadow Lane to catch the coach to Stevenage, I had memories come back of travelling to games with Grandfather. It made me realise the little things in and around the ground which has changed, you know the things people often take for granted but to you they mean something.

Sadly, I don't recall the alternations or the old ground.

I am wondering if community members are open to sharing some of their memories of Meadow Lane?

    I'll add mine later on.

  14. Now go easy on me as I am one to mainly read posts rather than start one of my own but for all those who like to keep up to date on news regarding old notts favourites, a friend and Robins fan at work told me last night that Lee Hughes may be joining Ilkeston Town FC. Now I'm not sure how much truth there may be in this and I know he's currently training with Port Vale but according to the Robins forums there may be some truth in this.

I was just curious really as to what peoples opinions are about this?. I for one think that this would be an incredible signing for a club like Ilkeston and would be fantastic to see hughesy back at a local club, even at his age he would be amazing at this level if not higher. I thoroughly enjoyed his time with us at Notts and have been following him every now and again as he moved from club to club..

    Thanks guys  .

  20. I'm currently writing about the opening day, when I reached a point whereby I spoke about the fan pictures I take. I realised I hadn't shared any, so here I am.

This season, I decided to call our pictures - The Faces of PON. I actually spoken about this last season to @Cobby, he felt it would be a very good idea and I am pleased people have responded so well.

Obviously the result pays part in that but I did get many, many, very positive comments about my work and of course PON.

Please do tag anyone you know, such as your family and friends - also, if you like album or any of the pictures. I would appreciate if you could click 'like', as it's always nice to see.

  21. I reckon Huddersfield will struggle this season. I have tipped them to go down. They were well beaten by Hull yesterday.

I reckon we'll make a few changes for this game. Huddersfield will probably do the same.

3-2 to Notts AET. Campbell hat trick.

  22. Should Roy Carroll be the Notts captain?
