Very sad to hear of the passing of Notts former chairman,Derek Pavis. He did so much for your club.My thoughts are with his family ,friends RIP Mr Pavis.

As a lover of dance music and avid festivalgoer, I enjoy delving into the history of the rave/electronic music scene, reading up about it and watching videos on YouTube of people having the time of their lives at Fantasia, or Shelleys, or the Hacienda.

I went to a festival in Leicestershire last week called Glastonbudget, which features some of the world's biggest tribute bands, and on the Friday they had Jilted Generation, the UK's top Prodigy tribute band.

And I'm not kidding, being in there throwing shapes and going bonkers alongside several hundred other proper mad bastards was really something! Though I doubt it captured the truly raw, euphoric feel of a Prodigy gig in the 90s (felt it came pretty close, mind... when Smack My ***** Up came on, I've never seen such an atmosphere).

So if you were part of the late 80s/early-mid-90s rave generation, I'd love to hear your stories!

Out of all the players who have been offered new deals by Notts County, which one/ones do you think will have the biggest impact on the team next season?

Let's hear your thoughts!

So Nottingham Forest have offered Jorge Grant a three-year deal to stay put at the City Ground.

Notts County are still hoping they can sign him permanently, but if not, they may try for another loan next season.

And then there are also the other clubs sniffing around (Bristol City, Wigan etc).

How do you see this panning out?

Alan Hardy has confirmed that the new Notts County shirt, made by Puma, should be coming out mid-July.

So while on the subject of Notts kits, we want to know - which is your favourite of all time?

Let PON know and if you've got pictures, feel free to share them on the thread!

Maybe a game of bluff and counter bluff. It perhaps should never have gone to the wire. I wonder if and how much a  "settlement" was made?

Football League World (click here for link) have speculated about Craig Mackail-Smith being a potentially good signing for Notts. Here's what they say:

"One problem this season, that Nolan will be looking to address in the summer was the lack of goals that the team scored, as they only found the goal 54 occasions, which if they are to be pushing towards the promotion places they are going to need to dramatically improve upon.

"One player that could bring goals to the team is experienced striker Craig Mackail-Smith, who is set to be released by his current side Luton Town.

"The 33-year-old has good Football League pedigree having played for Peterborough, Brighton and Luton Town respectively.

"Having scored over 140 career goals, Mackail-Smith certainly has an eye for goal, and having won promotion with Peterborough he is somebody who knows what it takes to get out of League Two, and could be somebody that helps Notts County push on up the table."

What do you reckon? Would he be a good signing?

I think the pitch is a bit of a luxury really for League Two.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the reasons but we need to have players who can play on a good service. We struggle to find players who can play without complaining that the standard is poor throughout League Two. Also, Dean Leacock said he could never adapt from playing at Meadow Lane in comparison to the training facilities that England uses. At the end of the day professionals should be able to play on any service, so I would hope that they at least appreciate the 100k investment.

Perhaps when we have a team who just look ahead to playing and are eager to take the field at grounds like Newport, Morecambe and Stevenage we may gain promotion successfully.

part of me does think if things dont go to plan the players will moan about how different other l2 pitches are.

but i do think its great to see that the club are trying to improve the standard of the pitch, just the cost for me. i think it could be spent on ways of returning profit, if we struggle or dont play as people hope it wont bring in money. neither would the scoreboard that ah mentioned.

i would prefer to see the tbars improved and the service etc.

I upgraded my laptop earlier, it's now running the latest public release of Windows 10 Home Edition (Version 1703 - OS Build: 15063.296).

Since I have been using the Windows 10, I have always been very impressed with the design. Compared to Windows 8.0/8.1 it's more polished and a respectable bridge between Windows 7 and the previous version.

The latest update has my laptop running much smoother, I can tell the difference very easily. Previous the Windows button would seem to get stuck and never actually respond if I had my laptop on for awhile. It's a bug which has really frustrated me, as it meant I had to use the 'Type here to search' in order to locate the apps or programs I required.

Yet that's been fixed, it actually feels like I have a laptop with 16gb. Rather than one running the minimum requirements. The upgrade offers some new programs, nothing really to write home about but it is looking much smoother as I say. Just a pain how long the upgrade took, it just seemed to go on.

Are you happy with Windows 10? What version do you run? Also let me know if you had issues with the windows button or have upgraded yourself, discuss.

How do you feel about the clubs target of aiming for the playoffs? I could see Notts aiming higher if the right players was signed. I am unsure about the Lincoln lad but the club needs to send a stronger signal of intent than that of just hoping for playoffs for me.

Quality players and that quote atmosphere around Meadow Lane, Notts could be giving any club a run for their money.

So Jon Goodman is the new Notts County academy coach and Simon Clark is the lead professional development phase coach (story below).

What do you know about these two? Reckon they're a good fit for Notts and can help spur our academy to the next level?

its been entertaining seeing luton v blackpool and exeter v carlisle.

i think both luton and carlisle can consider themselves to be unlucky not to have made the play off final. the was a hell of a lot of goals scored in both leagues which will probably see the final either the compete opposite or it will be a thriller.

blackpool must be feeling confident going into the final tho. who do you think will win promotion to l1?

Congratulations to Notts County's medical team for being nominated for the League Two Football Medical Association award of Medical & Science Team of the Year 2016-17.

The FMA awards are about acknowledging medical teams at football clubs who have excelled in injury prevention, treatment and management and helped given their players the extra edge on the field.

Notts are up against Luton and Plymouth in this year's awards, which take place at the Radisson Blu East Midlands Hotel next Saturday (click here for more information).

So well done Notts, and let's hope "home advantage" at the awards serves us well! YOU PIES!

Hi all,

Hope the mods are okay with me posting this here (if not, please move it to where it should be...) biggrin.gif

My name is Martin and I work for Yeovil Town Football Club along with my twin sons aged 16. Last month, we visited all 92 Premier & Nationwide League grounds collecting signed memorabilia to auction off upon our return. Had some fantastic times during the two weeks we were away, memories to last a lifetime. Watched twelve matches, met loads of ex-Yeovil players and collected about fifty items for the two charities - the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and the Adam Stansfield Foundation. If you want to read more, our website is at http://www.4-2-3-1.org

We have a signed County away shirt available to bid on, courtesy of the club. The shirt is now on eBay until 9.15pm on Sunday evening (21st May) and with your (well deserved) safety now confirmed, we hope it will make a decent amount so please feel free to bid.

Finally, many congratulations on achieving safety, thought you were goners at one point. Had no particular teams I DID want to go down really but County came good with this, and let us in pitchside for a picture too, so I wish you well for a better season next year.

do you have a favourite that notts have made which comes from the non league? the arrival of terry hawkridge has me thinking.

we signed andre boucaud from a non league club right? i think he would be mine.

Gary Lineker, legendary Leicester City / Tottenham Hotspur / England striker, Match of the Day commentator, lover of thinly sliced fried potatoes and opinionated Twittererer, has spoken of a game he took part in against Notts County as one of his six most memorable games of all time.

Over to FourFourTwo magazine (link here):

April 24, 1979: Notts County 0-1 Leicester

My debut for Leicester was pretty hopeless; I scored my first goal about seven games into my career on a cold, dark night at Meadow Lane.

Leicester were near the bottom of the old Second Division, but I managed to get on the end of a Mick Duffy cross to get us a win.

I’d had no trouble scoring goals before then but I was worried I’d be found out in the first team, so it was a relief to prove I could do it. Everything else followed from that night.

Was anyone at the game? What did you think about this young whippersnapper called Gary Lineker at the time?

Well it's official, Notts have signed Terry Hawkridge as previously discussed here.

He arrives after his contract ran out with his former club Lincoln, and is our first summer signing having penned a two year deal. You can read the full story below - be sure to have your say on the signing.

What do you think of the arrival of Terry Hawkridge? Do you feel he will be a regular within the first team? Discuss...
