Johnathan Forte signs for Exeter

Featured Replies

I'm not happy about this, it shows that we should have kept hold of him and he will do well at Exeter I think. He could have moved onto the win to get more game time but no Kevin Nolan releases him despite the fact he was our best striker.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

Totally bloody agree he hit his form at the right time last season now he has gone to Exeter .. bloody fantastic

I expected him to end up somewhere decent, he's a good striker and I hope the decision to allow him to leave pays off.

I'm not going to look back, I think we have two fine new additions to our front line and Forte deserves to be starting more. It's clear that his days was numbered and that Nolan wouldn't have given him much of a chance. He proved his worth when he played, so I wish him well. It's just annoying him to see him sign for a club that should be rivalling us for promotion.

A field where dreams become reality.

ffs notts.

if he was not good enough exeter would not have signed him, hes a good player and i think he would have been more useful to have than jon stead. its annoying when we allow perfectly good players to move on without ensuring we gt something for them. i hope he does well and enjoys his later stages of his career, its a shame its not with us but we have to move on now.

He will do well for them watch and all the focus will be on why we should not have let him go. He's a good player, a bit inconsistent at times but when Kevin Nolan can see that a player is this good you kind of lose faith in what he does see.

I think Kevin Nolan knows that Johnathan Forte is a good player, I just think its down to the style of play and lack of quality throughout the squad. It's best he moved on and both should be better for it.

I'm more surprised that it's taken him so long to sign for a club, I suppose he would have selected carefully due to wanting to play more regularly. I am sure Kevin had his reasons, but at least they have both moved on.

Good luck to Forte.

Very good move for both Exeter City and Jonathan Forte.

They have signed a very capable player in League Two and they've already got a good squad on paper. This signing would have most fans in this league pleased, so I hope he hits the ground running but even I am disappointed that we released him.

I was disappointed when he left, I’m even more disappointed that he’s signed for a rival team, I hope the decision to release him doesn’t come back to bite us on the bum.

I think the writing was on the wall a long time ago for Notts and Forte. Always rated him and always expected goals. The issue with KN was obvious and even with his impressive run at the end, and it was impressive - showed what we were missing all those months whilst he was frozen out, Nolan wasn’t going to back down. It would have undermined his authority. Even if he had played the ‘we worked it through together and I’ve come to respect him’ it would have gone pear shaped.

If we hadn’t have signed such quality up front then it would have been the mistake of the close season. Let’s hope the new signings prove to be worth it and if Bennett comes in as well, we have the speed and goals covered.

This is why I prefer posting on PON, where are the people who said he was useless or lazy? Probably found on social media crying into a newly brought Exeter City pillow, saying how much of a loss he is.

We have moved on, signed two strikers. I would have been angry if this didn't happen but we have two very good options now.

If not a team above us, Forte would have always been likely to end up with one of the better teams in League Two.

I hope the move works out for him.

Just imagine Dennis, Hemmings, Forte and Stead.

Notts would have been in dreamland with that for our attacking options, I hope he does well at Exeter. He needs to find a team that can challenge him and fight to get him consistently playing well. I don't think Nolan can be that hands on due to his inexperience and I think it makes sense now. The 4th striker needs to have a lot of what Forte offered, pace, skill and the ability to score from out nowhere.

The way Forte kept his head down and focused on playing it was professional.

Some would have come out to the media about being discontent or wanting to play, he just said that he wanted to play for Notts County. You could tell when he took to the field he enjoyed it and he shined in both playoff games. I wish him well at Exeter City! We should all applause him when he plays against us.

It's a good signing for Exeter, I expect them to lose a couple of players after how they did last season and Forte should be a regular within their lineup. No disappointment, its for the best that he moved on.

I too would have said Forte’s departure was disappointing but it’s not now that two strikers have joined. I don’t know how good they’re but if you believe the hype we are better off.

Forte should do well with Exeter.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.

Totally agree I thought that his playing time and the way he played at the end of the season may have sparked a new contract offer .. but I guess not.
