Do you believe in Aliens?

Do you believe in Aliens?

There has to be more life outside of earth right? We cannot be the only living planet in the universe. A popular theory I have seen around the internet is that we live inside a simulated environment like you can see in the Matrix films. If this is true, where would this leave the belief of aliens existing? Are we the aliens living on this planet?

I thought this would be a fun and interesting discussion, nothing to take too seriously but have your say anyway.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.

Yeah, I watch a lot of conspiracy theories on this because I find space quite interesting. I am relatively religious as well which I know isn't very common in young people nowadays so I don't believe in the big bang theory. However I do believe the science behind what space actually consists of and I don't believe we are the only life form for how many light years and galaxies there are. Good topic @AmericanPie

I've read a book on conspiracy theories and there's interesting pieces on their about aliens such as the greys. It seems plausible to believe something is out there as there's alot yet to be answered and no logical explanation to it. Apparently the greys are humans from the future pushing us to save the race in the future. I believe something is there but the question is what?

No, not really. I think if aliens did exist we would know about it by now.

There might be creatures on other planets but I don't think there are any flying around in spaceships or anything like that.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

It depends what is meant by aliens, I believe there will be life forms on other distant planets but they will probably be vastly different to our human form, you’ve only got to look at the weird and wonderful life forms on this planet to realise what strange creatures could be out there, whether they will be intelligent life forms is another matter.

I don’t believe in flying saucers or crafts from another planet visiting us.

Yes, I believe in aliens and I would imagine we are not the only life that is exploring space.

I don't believe in UFO's as I feel they wouldn't want to be identified, but I feel there will be life beyond what we know.

Aliens, yes of course. There are so many stars and planets out there, there's no way we're alone in the universe. But the distance between ourselves and the nearest planets that could harbour life is so inconceivably huge that it's hard to imagine how we could ever enter into meaningful contact, if they're intelligent enough to contact us in the first place.

UFOs, no. Now that most people carry a smartphone with hi-res camera around with them all the time, surely there would have to be a proliferation of sightings, pictures and videos. And in these days of social media, they'd be halfway around the world very quickly. But instead there's been nothing. UFO sightings tend to happen in years when there are big UFO blockbusters on at the cinema, that tells its own story.

This has to be the best discussion out side of football on PON. :D

No I don't believe in UFO's or aliens as we think about them.

I believe in aliens, UFO's could be true too - perhaps they have the technology to cloak themselves? We can't be the only ones to have invented flying and space exploration.

No, not at all. There may be worlds with creatures on but I would not class them as aliens.

That is the definition of an alien. A living thing from a world that is not our own.

I believe Aliens have, will, and probably do exist.

The only thing is time. Are there intellectual beings that occupy the inexplicably brief amount of time as us? Maybe, maybe not. Then factor in the distance, doubt we'll ever know if our lifetimes.

Good response @samwatto2008, I thought it would be interesting to see what PON members thought.

I think Blake means our view of aliens.

I believe there's more life out there but I don't think humans will ever find it. The universe is incredibly big and space travel will never reach the requirements in my opinion to explore further areas.

alien has many different meanings and people view things differently.

its a word that seems very generalised, so i understand what blake is saying. we would be aliens to life outside of earth and that seems weird.

I believe there's life out there, most probable further away than humans can ever imagine travelling.

I'm sure you knew what I meant.
