Does he stay on under the new regime or not?

What's his exact role? Youth/Academy Manager???

I would keep him if he's working with the youngsters and reserves, otherwise I would get rid. I think Mark Crossley needs to depart personally, nothing against him but I think a change of goalkeeping coach would bring the best out of Ross Fitzsimons further and the young Max.

Crossley should have gone ages ago IMO. Need to keep him
In Nottingham though, don’t want to see any more pub closures.

Chettle was never brought in to do first team affairs. He's purely just a care-taker who has been given a taste of league football. Going back to the academy is his day job as he keeps saying in his interviews. Hopefully league football will have given him an idea of where to go from here. Anyone who wants him out is a fool. First team was never on the agenda.

Absolutely gutted to read this thread only to realise that it isn't news that he has left the building. The bloke is useless and can leave now along with his red dog mate Crossley. I just hope that Ardley realises that they are one of the problems at this club and removes them both pretty quickly.

At the moment his future is up in the air because they are not sure if Neal will require him with the first team ... but my sauce has said he should return to the youth team as before.

thats one way to put it fozzy. 😆

i think he should go too, along with crossley who seems useless and the new fitness coach could move on. can we not get someone who leads by example rather than a butch chubby guy who the players look at and question his ability?

It's hard to say how good coaches are from the outside. If he's been hired for the academy and he's up to that job I don't see any reason why he shouldn't go back to it. I hope they deloused him when he crossed Trent Bridge mind.

Steve Chettle has shown why he was coaching and managing in such a low league, he may have something about him but as a league manager he's very poor. I would get rid and find someone more knowledgeable in the field.

He can go for me, he doesn't do much and I think there are better people to be working with the youths/reserves personally.

His strengths is probably with young players, he did okay at Ilkeston but the standard is much different than league football.

Steve Chettle is experienced working within the Non League, he has little to no experience in the football league and as a youth team coach he seems a bizarre choice to have. I would rather him see out his contract then leave, there's no point paying him compensation.

That sounds about right because he never seemed good enough for notts.

I would say it should be down to Neal Ardley to choose.

I don't dislike or like Steve Chettle, I think he was the wrong person to take temporary charge but then who could Notts have had? I think his future will be safe mind. Alan Hardy clearly rates him.

Keep him because the club needs stability and changing people all the time just effects that.

I think he was out of depth as caretaker but I do feel he is someone who works well with younger players, I would keep him. I don't mind Steve Chettle at all. I think some just dislike him because he played for Forest.

Likewise with Mark Crossley.

Chettle was out of depth as the caretaker but nobody knows how he is with you youth team/reserves, them losing games means they learn more and it's not as serious. I don't mind him remaining at all.
