Things that annoy you about being in Non-League

Featured Replies

I'll kick it off.

The 4th ref holding up the one sided board.

On nine times out of ten, he forgets to turn it towards the Pavis stand. Why not have a double sided one like in the league?!?!

The overuse of the word "tinpot", did we end up in the Non League by mistake? It just makes us look very silly.

"Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value."

Opposition fanbases or fans or just a fan being totally stupid. Maidenhead singing we were rejected by Forest. Bromley fans telling us we were salty even though we beat them. A Halifax fan saying our away support is bad then using Halifax taking 600 to Notts (the away game everyone looks out for and in the summer) and us bringing 500 to them (4 days before Christmas and a game that doesn't stand out) as the example. A Dagenham fan telling us we were salty despite being annoyed at our own team. Any chant that involves Forest from opposition fans.

Referees and officials who at times, just make up the rules as they go along.

Opposition players who are just desperate for a free kick

Every opposition fan in this league repeats the same idea that Notts fans thought 'we would walk this league', despite nobody saying it, ever, and fans predicting we'd struggle.

It doesn't seem to matter what your fan base actually says, if you're a 'big club' for this level (i.e over 2000 fans), then you will be told that you thought you'd walk the league.

Honestly, I’ve quite enjoyed it and there’s only one major gripe that annoys me. It’s the ridiculous agreement, over TV rights and highlight which should be made available to fans much sooner.

Monday is a joke.

They shouldn’t force fans to wait that long, just because they want a few days of the spotlight.

I’m not keen on Vanarama website either.

A field where dreams become reality.

Probably the facilities and food/drink at grounds... Its like going to a theme park and being stuck having to pay their prices.

Agreed, if you don't watch the highlight runs its a joke.

The lack of coverage is shocking, you would have thought Notts had fallen off the face of the earth by dropping out of league two. Its very poor.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.

For me personally the loss of live-streamed matches (not much fun last season admittedly, but an absolute boon for exiled fans). And the two-day wait for highlights. Anyone who posts a goal on the PON Facebook page before then is a ledge.

The massive Vanarama logos EVERYWHERE look very, well, tinpot. But at least it's not a betting company.

The sheer emptiness of the Sirrel stand. Although this is nothing new :(

The lack of local opposition. After Chesterfield, our nearest trip is Solihull. And what's the third nearest? Halifax?

Silly kick off times.  I like 3pm on a Saturday or 7.45pm on a Tuesday.

What right do you have to tell me I'm wrong?  You're not my Granddaughter.

I’d agree with these. The loss of the live stream is a big one for anyone either living abroad or regularly away.

Even the ability to pay for just one match when you’re away on the jollies is a loss.

Logos...true. Including the same touch line jackets for all teams. When both benches come out and there wearing the same coats as Neil and Coxxy!

At the rate Mansfield are going, they might slip up! Is there still something regards club penalty hanging around at the bottom of league two due to Bury? Or is it still as normal?

It's different though, night games are nice because of the floodlights and atmosphere created.

I don't dislike anything about the league.

Those that insist on calling Notts the biggest team in this league, despite the fact they called us p*ss poor last season and we still haven't earned our place in this league yet.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

To be fair, by any objective measure we are. Which doesn't change the fact that we are in this division on merit and should treat the opposition respectfully until we EARN promotion out of it. There are always a few who think we should be thrashing all comers because of how massive we are, but football doesn't work like that.

Yes true, but the same people thought we'd smash League Two because we're a 'big club'.

Notts hasn't been a big club for a long time, when we accept it, it might mean we are progressing as a club. I hate when people describe us as a 'sleeping giant', the clubs not sleeping it's been neglected and we are only just starting to repair that damage.
