@Countyman apparently he had it, there's been a lot spoken about the fact he quoted "Visited" as if to say he had it and now its gone 

But the thing is.. 

1. The spread would of been a big amount considering him being at the game v Milwall

2. Arsenal and Man City game postponed due to Arsenal having played Olympiakos which he was at the game but the players aren't being tested.

It's starting to hit football hard now. Mönchengladbach played Cologne (a derby) behind closed doors today, and the next two rounds of matches in the third division have been postponed. Most of the country has now banned all events with more than 1,000 attendees, and you can imaging what that's doing to the sporting calendar. In some places all events are banned till mid-April.

After every team has played 52 games, the entire ice hockey season has been cancelled, with no champions or relegation. There are even discussions about doing the same thing with football too. Personally I'm in favour of postponing matches as far as possible, and if the situation drags on further, playing behind closed doors to at least bring the season to a conclusion. It's gutting and depressing to have something you look forward to taken away from you, but lives are literally at stake. The only approach that is proven to stop the disease from spreading is going into lockdown.

I'm surprised nothing is happening in the UK. The danger is that the longer everyone tries to carry on as normal, the more it will spread, ultimately making it harder to control. Just making turnstile operators wear gloves is completely ineffective.

You forget @DangerousSausage this country is being led by a buffoon!  By this stage of the virus, the schools should be notified of closure, large gatherings banned etc... If Ireland can do it with only one death, then the UK should be doing the same, if not more, I hope in the next few days this country gets its act together. 

Financially for me it's crap as we're both self employed and will not only have no cash coming in, but will have to refund parents of the children we look after, but if it means sensible measures, then so be it. 

People tend to go into the 'I wont get it' phase here around now. Just sometimes they need to think about all the people they have contact with and how quickly it can spread.

I think limiting interactions people in the UK is at a must know, most should be fine but it could effect loved ones.

Two here that wont be at the Lane until this had calmed down I'm afraid. 

Went shopping today and it was like bloody Armageddon! 

Radio Nottingham will do just fine for tomorrow, but can see Notts stopping after tomorrow. Harrogate suspected outbreak so that'll be booted into the long grass I'd expect.

 

As was said above, now is the time to be sensible, think of not just yourselves, but others. Ensure elderly have all they need for a long haul of isolation. Make sure their phone or even better, their computer works so they can talk or skype. Share your Netflix membership logon with them so they have something to do! (Sorry gov. Thinking of the elderly for a few weeks. Not looking to break the rules. Honest!)

But most importantly, think for yourself. Not politically aimed, but if you think listening to Johnson now is all fine and dandy, then fair play to you. When his own ministers are saying we should be starting the social distancing immediately then I'd tend to go with that idea for the next month or so.

Bang on @hissingdwarf. When it's a matter of life and death, surely you've got to err on the side of caution. I can actually understand keeping schools open, as parents who work in the NHS will be needed at work rather than looking after kids, and children will carry on socialising anyway. But sports, concerts, etc. are a no-brainer. It's startling how little the government is doing. In Italy, 15% of those diagnosed with the virus have needed intensive care. There are 4,000 intensive care beds in the UK, 80% of which are already occupied. So we are only a few thousand cases away from running out - and the government is publicly talking about millions of people catching this.

And anyone who thinks it's enough to be careful - you could easily pick it up, have no symptoms whatsoever and end up passing it on to someone for whom it's dangerous. And for older people, it's far deadlier than the flu.

Right now I'm feeling seriously down because everything I look forward has been cancelled - all the football, all the festivals, my next visit to the UK to see my family won't be happening either. But I'm worried about my older relatives too and frankly I feel stranded.

I think we should be more careful to be honest, i am surprised notts is going ahead tomorrow. I do think it will be cancelled after that. I think schools are looking into closing though because my eldests has asked if everyone has the internet so they can put in measures of being able to give kids work whilst out of school.

@eighteensixtytwo finally someone with a bit of sense. I'm a person that dislikes government figures but everything that's happening defying the government don't make you big or clever. The sooner we listen the quicker it'll be over. Does my head in that even in these tough times people still find it suitable to call the government play politics and blame them. Stand together and we will strive.

Personally, I would just put down a lockdown that meant only health processionals and key workers had to go to work.

Some of these "keyworking" jobs aren't vital.

Markets should be closed, supermarkets remain open.

Food establishments need to be closed.

It's the weaker areas that will continue to keep this spreading, those having parties, panic buying are only part of the issue.

I think the politics comes into the lead up. Both short term and long term lead in.

The NHS has been systematically run down and dismantled over the past few years and sadly, it has and will continue to do so, cause a loss of life, especially in such turbulent times.

Seems strange how the country choose the Tories in December at the election and demonised Corbyn for his socialism ideals and now when the crap has hit the fan...we see the Tories suddenly turning the country into a socialist nirvana!

Wages paid by the government. Companies being nationalised left right and centre. NHS centre of attention.

Even a few days ago Johnson saying broadband was a national utility that everyone should have, no matter what! Christ, the outrage when Corbyn said that in the run up to the election! The Daily Fail couldn’t stop laughing at such a suggestion, but now we see the country taking a different approach.

Three months ago low skilled workers were worth nothing to the elite who run the country. Now they are vital and key workers who keep the country going!

Oh how the tables have turned! As most NHS workers said last week...clapping is lovely, but they’d rather people remember why they’ve been treated so badly before they go into the ballot booth to cast their vote.

Even Trump is slowly realising the bluff and bluster can’t get him through this crisis.

Indeed @hissingdwarf. I'm fully behind the measures in place now, but the government procrastinated before adopting in the full knowledge of what was happening in Italy. You can't complain you were taken by surprise when it's already happening elsewhere. And the situation with testing and PPE is a disgrace. It's telling that even the Tory press, which usually attacks public servants for their "gold-plated pensions", have now turned on the government over that.

This is going to dominate our lives for years to come, even after the virus itself has gone. The US is heading for a very dark place, and if their economy crashes it'll affect the rest of us too.

Reading back, last night I forgot another bigger one.

Lets not forget that the Tory Government started out dealing with this crisis in the UK by going with...

herd immunity. For Christ sake. For anyone that doesn’t understand this, basically it means hoping that millions upon millions get the virus quickly and eventually it will burn itself out due to the fact it has no need target’ to jump to. But by doing that you have to be prepared to accept a fair few million deaths to the virus. With Johnson and Cummings happy to see the strain on the pension system solved by having a couple of million OAPs die in a few days into the virus, says a lot about them. This isn’t political scare mongering. This was from one of his own press conferences So cut him some slack @eighteensixtytwo? I don’t really think so mate.

Loss of life during a pandemic is inevitable.

It would be easy to slate anyone in charge, however, if you want me to believe Boris Johnson wanted the elderly to die on purpose you're being political.
