So my question is simply guys and girls do we still need a new goal keep weather be now or in January.?

So another bonfire night is over how did/did you celebrate it.?

Good morning it’s a mild, cloudy and slightly misty start here but at least it’s dry.

Remember, remember the 5th November, I wonder how many kids know the reason for fireworks this time of year or some adults for that matter.

For those that don’t know it is to remember when a chap called Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament with gunpowder and was called the gunpowder plot, he was caught and met a particularly grisly death, look it up if you want to know more.

When I was a lad we used to make an effigy of Guy Fawkes in the weeks and days before bonfire night and put it on our home made wooden trolley (which had pram wheels) and take it to a prominent place, in my case the shops which were on Meadow Lane or on match days outside the ground and ask for a “penny for the guy”, we used to make quite a bit of money especially when Notts had won, the money would be spent on sweets and fireworks, Penny bangers and jumping jacks were favourites both probably banned now. A penny banger was literally a small tube filled with gunpowder with a fuse which cost a penny, when lit it made a loud bang, we used to throw them about and at each other, :panic:, a jumping jack was a firework shaped a bit like a concertina which we put on the ground and lit and it jumped about whilst banging.

On the actual night of November the 5th we would put the guy on a communal bonfire which was constructed on waste ground using old sofas, chairs, wood, cardboard boxes etc. Then the bonfire was set alight and people let their fireworks off and roasted potatoes on the bonfire.

Here endeth the history lesson. Today I’ve got computer work to do, a big shop at Lidl and a bit of a de clutter  in the loft to take some stuff to the charity shops.

Have a great day folks.

I have about had it with this team, manager, owner and backroom staff. After all the stories I have heard about why certain people, players and staff left just prior to the sacking of KN and just after it is all coming together and making sense now. I personally feel like the majority of this was planned and Alan Hardy has gotten too greedy.

I don't care what anyone says about the word 'hope'. We are going to finish mid table at best this year but from the display we put on against Oldham we deserve to go down. I have seen about 3 positive performances this season so far and the rest has been utter garbage.

People have been saying 'Why are you moaning? This is what it's like supporting Notts' well ... it shouldn't be like that, things have happened this year that has been out of fans control that makes us look like an absolute laughing stock. I didn't attend the Oldham game in a sort of personal protest but my Dad insisted on buying it on IFollow but I didn't pay so just thought I would sit down and watch it with him. After what I saw I can't believe what I saw.

WE HAVE A 100K STRIKER being played up top on his own playing hoof ball nd hoping he gets on the end of a few crap balls.

Something has to change quick and we payed a sum for those two sorry excuses for coaches on the sidelines. Well KN wasn't given time at the start of the season so neither should HK. If November doesn't change I will be calling for his sacking. Possibly the worst managerial appointment in recent times for Notts' We had the chance to get someone like Bowyer, Appleton, Ferguson and we fluffed it. The team we have is one of the best in the league so I can't believe he's benching 4 CB's a game and claiming 'It's to combat the opposition's strengths' ... Is it balls. It's because he can't admit to the media he's lost half of his dressing room already the wet wipe. (Jones, Bird, Vaughan, Kellett, Husin, Patching, Crawford) All players who should be on the bench and can make an impact instead the bench is full of kids because no one wants to play for him.

Let me know what you think but I am really angry about how everything is run at the club. Most of the problems are from higher up in the board room etc. And something has to change and drastic otherwise we won't be in the football league next year.

So with the Oldham game truly begins us and we have had time to mull things over my question can we take any positives from the Oldham game.?

So Notts travel to Barnsley next up on Saturday in the first round of the fa cup.

Who's making the journey to Oakwell to watch the lads.

So this week is remberance Sunday, to mark the anniversary of the end of World War One.

We wear poppies to mark the occasion and show respect to those who lost their life and those who fought bravely.

Sone players have refused to wear a poppy, Matic from United, I’m ashsmed to say, and Stokes james  McClean the other.

Mclean came under fire from Middlesbrough fans at the weekend for refusal.

What’s your thoughts guys and girls on this.?

Good morning, although it’s not actually very good weather wise, it’s raining out there but it’s pretty mild.

i wanted to go for a run this morning but I don’t “do” rain so that’s not going to happen. Mrs Big Tone is going for a coffee morning with her mates so I’m home alone this morning, I’ll do a bit of housework and I’ve got some computer work to do so that’ll keep me busy.

Its home made mousakka for tea, it’s ages since we’ve had that so I’m looking forward to it.

I noticed in yesterday’s daily thread we had two people reading it who don’t normally read it but they didn’t contribute so please if you read this why not join in and tell us about your day or what’s on your mind.

I hope everyone has a good day and try to stay cheerful in spite of last nights result after all to only football.

Morning all, a cloudy, mild start here.

Its match night tonight and personally I can’t wait to get back down the lane, no grandkids as it’s too late for them being a school night so I’ve booked a seat near the half way line which is my preferred view point rather than behind the goal where I sit with grandchildren in the family stand.

In other news I see the Spice Girls are making a comeback minus posh spice (Victoria Beckham) are we bothered?

More news some stupid people have posted a rather sick video of a bonfire with a model of the Grenfell tower block burning on the fire with people standing around laughing and joking, how sick can you get?

We didn’t get our @GrannyPie update yesterday, hows she doing @super_ram?

Have a great day everyone.

Pavement parking is getting worse nowadays as theres more cars around. Repeated parking over crossings is seriously annoying and dangerous. I think the ban some councils bought in should be considered by all.

Today i had to take my girls past this on a main road on the way to school as it was over a crossing.

Game 13 - Latics (H)

Team: Oldham Athletic

What line-up should Harry Kewell opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

  • To be honest my motivation levels are pretty low too. The thought of another wasted season isn't exactly motivating. Only five of tonight's starting line-up were at the club last season, and only three of those were regulars. I can't help but think that the baby has been thrown out with the bathwater.

Anyway, it is what it is. We need a win to get things rolling again, so why not tonight? It doesn't have to be pretty, just show us some grit and determination.

    0-0 FT.

Another point but the performance sounded as dreadful as the one at the weekend if not worse, be interesting to hear what everyone thinks!

The most poignant bit of the commentary was when Charlie said "Notts are at home clinging onto a point against a team that has only lost 4 of their last 5 matches". Last season's achievements seem a very distant memory.

Oh and Duffy on for Dennis after we spent the whole game hoofing it over his head... Wasn't Harry Kewell supposed to be our attacking free-flowing football saviour!

Where do we go from here?

What the heck was all that about? When I saw Duffy coming on I jokingly said to @magpiejue “he’s coming on as a centre forward instead of Dennis” well i was half right Kewell took off Dennis our only striker but he put Enzio up front.

Actually it nearly worked Enzio did more in the short time he played up front than Dennis had done all match and he nearly scored with two very good chances.

So Sunday is the Manchester Derby as Manchester United face Manchester City In there annual rival match.

Whats your score prediction folks ?

So October was a mix month for us but is there a player that you would consider as our stand out  player of the month for October.?

So we got a point away at Port Vale yesterday.

So my question is are there any positives to take away from yesterday’s result.

So John Terry has got his first job in management as he becomes the news assistant manager at Aston Villa Along side Dean Smith as there new head coach.

What’s your thoughts guys and girls.?

So Notts play Oldham on Tuesday night kick off 7.45 who going then.?

What's the best theme park you've been to and which is the best value for money?

The best I've been to with the grandchildren was Legoland we took three grandchildren the youngest wasn't born then and we went with our now deceased son, it holds special lovely memories but it was really expensive.

For value for money I would say Twin Lakes near Melton Mowbray, it doesn't cost an arm and a leg but has some great rides especially for younger children.

Good morning everyone, it’s a cloudy start here but pretty mild as the temperature only dropped to 10.2 overnight.

Thanks for all the comments about the daily chat thread, I’ll carry on with it but in a few weeks time i’ll be away on a cruise so I won’t be able to do it then.

Its still a bit disappointing that more people don’t join in, there were only 8 people who actually read yesterdays! As I say i’ll soldier on in the hope that more people join in and we need somewhere to find out about @GrannyPie and see how she’s doing.

I’m still aching from yesterday’s park run but today I want to get out for a walk to get a bit of fresh air, we need some shopping as we haven’t got anything for tonight’s dinner so we’ll come back via the shops, there are quite a few nice footpaths round here it’s not too urban so we can walk from the house and feel like we are in the countryside.

I hope everyone has a great day.

So another caption this guys and girls .. I can’t wait to see what captions we get because I’ve got to say it’s getting funnier and funnier.

ill reveal the best caption this on Saturday night after the County game.

Good luck guys and girls

Which team in any division do you most hate.

Florist? Mansfailed? Dare I say it Derby? Or another team Man Utd maybe?

Who do you love to hate and why?

Lucky to even get a point, no shock that when a bit of luck goes our way, we still manage to **** it up.

Fitz - 7 - Can't fault him for anything, collected the balls he should, couple of good saves, solid.

Toots - 2 - Can we have the Toots of last season back please? Backs so far off his man it's practically a free cross. Thing is, if he gets closer, he gets skinned and allows the man to waltz into the penalty area.

Turley - 10 - Only one actually defending, and he did it well, maybe he can share it with the rest of the morons alongside him. Head it, kick it, tackle. Well done.

Ward - 3 - Did the basics of head it right, but then some frankly strange decision making and lazy defending.

Evina - 2 - Someone could have told him we were playing in blue?! Couldn't pass to anyone of his fellow team-mates, also made strange decisions like Ward.

Enzo - 5 - Would have given him 7 for the first half  and a 3 for the second. It averages to 5.

Hewitt - 5 - Largely bypassed by the direct Vale, but when on the ball was OK.

Milsom - 2 - Looked like bambi on ice trying to play football. Gave the ball away so many times in the center of the field. Even tripped over the ball at one point. Shambolic display, got away with it.

Hemmings - 6 - Thought he was decent and got into some dangerous positions, always a threat but sometimes last bit of quality missing. Did his bit defending.

Dennis - 3 - Hardly noticeable. Didn't get much service, didn't get himself into the game either.

Subs:
Etete - 6 - Put himself about, bit gangly and some bad touches but got himself into the game in 2 minutes when Dennis couldn't in 70.

Duffy & Bris - N/A

Vale's finishing - 10 - Could and probably should have been 5-2. Thanks for that Vale.

Game 17 - The Valiants (A)

Team: Port Vale

Date: 03/11/18

Where: Vale Park

  • Well can’t say I’m not happy we got a point .. but it still keeps us two points clear of relegation zone we could of done with a win.

Anying it was late in the game and again coukdnt hold a lead annoying and more points dropped..

Well, I don’t know where to start. Grateful we got a point I guess!

After the disappointment of last week where we should’ve won, this a game we probably should have lost. Three proper last ditch tackles a ball cleared off the line. Port Vale were wasteful and midway through the 2nd half it just felt like we were waiting for them to score. Kewell didn’t change anything and whilst we were okay in the first half it was the same old problems, standing off and anytime Port Vale got the ball in the box players were free and we panicked as per usual. We’ve pretty much got a new defence but the organisation is still not good. Alessandra and Dennis never got into the game today but it didn’t help that we gave the ball away too often.

Also 3 centre backs on the bench and two kids? Where are Jones, Husin, Crawford, Kellet and Hawkridge?

2 points off the relegation zone… 50 points looking miles away right now. Can we start the season again?
