Here are the latest odds from SkyBet guys and girls, the bookies are rarely wrong so here they are:

Neil Ardley = 1/1

Michael Appleton = 5/1

Kevin Nolan = 6/1

Paul Hurst = 9/1

Steve Chettle = 12/1

Kevin Nolan has been slashed from 30/1 to 6/1. I can only think he may be lined up as an assistant if this is true. Seems very odd to me that his odds have been slashed. Neil Ardley remains favourite following his recent departure with A.F.C Wimbledon.

Back when Kevin Nolan was appointed we had a fairly weak squad, on paper it wasn't all that good and the form even more depressing. Right now Kevin Nolan and Harry Kewell have strengthened the squad, I feel neither knew how best to utilise the players. I know some think the squads terrible, but it really isn't.

A good manager could get the best out of this squad, we are blessed in attack.

The issue is the defence and inexperience in goal for me, something I feel has been patched but I suspect the next manager will strengthen further if given a chance.

However, if I was a good football manager - I would be looking at this squad and feeling keen to take it on. It's by far no means weak, if you have strength in your own ability. Well it must be exciting because we shouldn't be near the bottom. I hope Alan Hardy goes back to just giving his backing to the manager as he did when Nolan first came in, rather than all the hype and crap praised to Kewell for no reason.

I’m thinking that last year’s squad may have been the best squad since winning the league 2 title all those years ago ..

last years team finished the highest of any team we have had for some years.

Again just my opinion be good to hear your thoughts guys.

so November starts the final count down to Christmas as it’s not that far away shops start getting their Christmas stock in and of course so dose meadow lane.

on Tuesday night I went to game and before hand I stopped by the shop and brought myself some of the first Christmas items the Notts County Christmas baubles only £2.50 for three large baubles and I have to say they will amazing on the tree there are also some Small ones at £1.50 but Currently out of stock.

So the Christmas baubles I think are just the start of the Christmas stock at meadow lane.

Is there any Christmas items you would love to see at meadow lane.

Has anyone else brought any the baubles?

Having read Alan Hardys recent comments on reasons why he sacked Harry Kewell has brought up some interesting talk.

He stated that in 2 games we played well but didn't get a result, those being against MK Don's and Swindon. While the MK game was down to a poor refereeing decision, the Swindon game was down to poor goals once again.

Nolan had the talk and often gave the team a rollicking for bad performances which was a main feature during the start of the season and Harry Kewell talked a good game from the start in the post match interviews.

Having said that, Hardy accepted that we played well in both games we lost v MK and Swindon. If Kewell had the team performing well then the question should be are the players to blame for both managers being sacked? and should they take some of the responsibility?

Now that Harry Kewell is gone should we start looking for someone with experience?

Given our current position and how disappointing this season is turning out to be surely we need to be looking into getting a manager who has a great reputation in league 2 and can get us out of this rot.

Neal Ardley, recently left Wimbledon, could be a great shout. Has a great managerial cv.

We need to stop recruiting rookie managers in the past it hasn't worked. Fullerton, less said the better.

Nolan, felt he did great last season reaching play offs and great cup run however we should have been automatically promoted but form wasn't great.

Kewell, didn't seem the man who could turn us round and that strange decision to replace dennis with Duffy was probably the last straw realistically.

Phil Brown, has been sacked by Swindon Town, another possible manager to look at.

Saturday's Fixtures:

Brentford v Millwall

Nottingham Forest v Sheffield United

AFC Wimbledon v Shrewsbury Town

Walsall v Burton Albion

Macclesfield Town v Bury

Tranmere Rovers v Exeter City

Brentford 1-0 Millwall

Nottingham Forest 1-2 Sheffield United

AFC Wimbledon 2-1 Shrewsbury

Walsall 2-0 Burton Albion (joker)

Macclesfield Town 0-2 Bury

Tranmere Rovers 3-2 Exeter

Look at our squad depth and the players we have. Also the type of players we have, what formation do they suit and why?

What formation would you want to play and who are the best players we currently have to fill those positions.

Mine would be consisting of a 3-5-2. Here is my lineup I think would win us the most games and suit the players we have:

Fitzsimmons

Turley, Ward, Bird

Kellett , Vaughan , Milsom , Patching , Boldewjin {Kellett can play both LB and LM so would fill that left side well with his work rate, Vaughan as a holding midfielder, Patching as the play maker and Milsom ball winner}

Hemmings , Dennis {Both strikers to feed off good quality through balls from midfield, both play on the last man and keep the oppositions defence deep}

Subs: Pindroch, Tootle, Evina, Brisley, Alessandra, Hawkridge, Stead

Let me know what you think!

So in just one word describe Lee Hughes the former magpie.

F199C3F6-C3B7-4FFD-9A89-2CA07BC5B1F7.jpeg

I think Elliott Hewitt has been a shadow of his former self all season, last year he was my most improved player but I don't see why people defend him or overlook when he plays very badly. He's not the holding midfielder Notts needs, he barely defends and he's more a weakness right now.

It must be frustrating to David Vaughan to see him selected ahead of him.

Yes Vaughan could have been a better signings but he needs to settle in, at least he can pass and hold the ball unlike Hewitt. What does everyone else think?

EFL Trophy - Rovers (H)

Team: Doncaster Rovers

Date: 14/11/18

Where: Meadow Lane

What line-up should Harry Kewell opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

Have your say below, join in with the Pride of Nottingham match discussion.

So Harry Kewell made only one change against Oldham .. which was Dennis for Duffy.

The one and only change was a attacker for a defender which probably means he went defensive and probably went for the point.

I cant believe he only made one change despite the players warming up  and the way we was playing.

I said to @Chris I can’t believe he has only made one change.

Thoughts guys and girls was he correct to make just the one change .?

Quick game So the question is simple guys and girls which actor and their films would you get rid off.

Just thinking about the games people play on their mobile or tablets. I play fallout shelter a fair bit. That and Sniper 3D.

What games do you play to pass time eg on the train etc...

I know I ask this a awful lot but are there any positives we can take from today’s fa cup game against Barnsley at oakwell.?

Just left Wimbledon. Was wanted by Notts before Kewell was appointed. Future appointment if things go sour with Kewell?

14 managerial changes have now been made 4 months into the season. 10 sackings, 2 resignations and 2 managers signed by another team

With the squad Kevin Nolan assembled with a few additions from Kewell, who from last season's squad do you think has left the biggest hole and would be the difference maker in the squad we have now?

For me it has to be Ryan Yates, he was everything that our midfield isn't and would certainly thrive in the squad we have now.

Honourable mention would go to Shola Ameobi as I feel he'd do a job with a Hemmings or Dennis alongside him up front.

I also feel the lack of experienced heads and strong characters in the dressing room (Smith, Ameobi, Dickinson, Hunt) haven't been replaced like for like which has left a void and when heads go down they stay down without these guys who had been there and seen it all.

I don't think Jorge Grant is a big miss, yeah he is a good player but he's a luxury player, you'd have him if he was offered to you but with or without him I think we'd be in the same position.

Adam Collin, no we don't miss him, his face just didn't fit and in times like this he would've been as useful as he was in the 10 game losing streak we had.

Michael O'Connor, I feel had we actually made a real effort to keep him his leadership qualities and thunderous, hard tackle approach is something we completely miss.

Jonathan Forte, do we miss him? I'm 50/50 on this one.

So, who do you think we miss the most? And who would be the player(s) that you feel would be a perfect fit to this team to get us more points?

Chris - I'm not trying to re-open the closed thread, this article has stunned me and I think a lot of people in PON will have interseting views and thoughts on it:

https://novaramedia.com/2018/11/08/unless-the-british-legion-calls-for-transformational-change-it-should-disband-veterans-deserve-better/?fbclid=IwAR193jUTGCe9_n46ZSWWoKHcjGvJ87rrMiSoW8Dnm0O7M8LNKgP1usgSGnI

let's leave the football issue out of this folks, and just comment on the issues the article raises. I must say it has horrified me, and alot of my veteran freinds (I used to work on various military bases across Europe but was not in the forces myself)

So my question is who on Pon likes a smoothie and if so what flavours do you like.?

Ive tried some basic ones but would like to try others  be great to know what other people drink.

Derby 0 Aston Villa 3 .. so the first local  Derby of the weekend has been played and Villa manages to get the 3 points.

coming in to the game Derby had only conceded a handful of goals were 6 points in front of Villa and further up the league.

lampard had clearly had a great start to his managerial job at Derby.

While Villa handnt  had such a good start to this season loosing 5 and winning 5 so winning imperative for Villa.

Villa scored 3 in the second half to put the game beyond Derby’s reach on the day Villa were the better side and clear to see that Derby wasn’t on form.

So it’s time for another caption this my favourite time of the week because we get some fantastic captions and they put a smile on my face.

So this weeks caption this is taken from last years home tie against Swansea.

I’ll reveal the winning caption on Saturday night good luck and happy captioning guys and girls
