so why cant we beat them? what does everyone think is the reason? manager after manager has failed to do this since god knows when.

How will you greet former Notts County manager Mark Cooper when he brings his Forest Green Rovers side to Meadow Lane this weekend?

On the back of Kevin Nolan suggesting that Jon Stead doesn't get the 'credit' he deserves, I though I would try to canvas opinions on the issue a little wider (without focusing on just one player all the time).
I'm actually getting fed up of this Jon Stead stuff, as for me he's gotten praise quite rightly so and for the right reasons.
He's performances and efforts have largely increased, I am sure nobody underestimates the contributions Jon has off the ball - he's good at that but until he's first goal in work on the ball wasn't actually desirable and it was hard for me to see why he continued to gain backing (although in the long-term he has improved). For me, it was always like Kevin Nolan felt Jon Stead would leave if he didn't start.
Anywho, I am curious about learning who the fans feel doesn't gain the credit that they deserve! So comment below...
Which Notts players deserve more credit?

It's a shame that September ended on a bit of a sour note with defeat at Mansfield, but apart from that, it's been a sensational month.
How many marks would you give this month just gone out of 10?
Let PON know!

The start to the season we have had has been brilliant, and way better than I thought possible so Nolan and the squad deserve a lot of praise for their achievements so far. But I'm still full of anger and disappointment at the pitiful display we gave yesterday. Of all the places for the run to end, you just knew it would be there. When the inbreds started chanting "You're an embarrassment" I was 15 minutes ahead of them. I was thinking we were an embarrassment as soon as the third went in. It's becoming an annual humiliation, we seem to save our most inept display of the season for when we go there. It's the one game I want to win above all others, but yet again we handed them the points gift wrapped on a silver platter. This was a chance to put a hefty 12 point gap between the clubs and put serious pressure on Fatty Evans. Instead we've given their stuttering season a big boost. Even though I feared the worst, given the circumstances going into the game we blew it big time.

one game does not change or undo the good work being done.
i just want to forget it and hope that it was nothing more than a one off.

Yet again, the Mansfield hoodoo comes back to haunt us. I have to be honest, I didn’t even listen to the game as I just had that feeling that we would be stuffed!
I’m not going to let yesterday bother me because at the end of the day, I am very happy with the 6 points we got this week and having looked at the fixtures for the next three months, I’m thinking that we can win a lot of those to cement our place near the top, especially playing the bottom side next week to hopefully get us back winning again.

Not sure we can compare it to the goal scored by Jon Stead, your player was never in any danger.
Your player wouldn't be in danger had he looked, but it's really pointless speculating. The fact is you got 3 points and knott got banned for 3 games, I accept that, It's one of those things that on another day could've been a different story
-
With all due respect @AndersonforOlympics Notts and Ryan Yates didn't get Knott banned - he did.
And your club got him banned for 3 games by foolishly thinking that the appeal could be overturned, it was obvious that it wouldn't happen. This is all factual now, it's not speculation - what is however is saying that Ryan Yates caused it.
Look at the footage, along with any fan captured videos - you'll see clearly that Ryan reacted well before Billy Knott even positioned himself able to attempt to win the ball. He's slumped at first, Yates gets his head out there and the rest is history now. Just enjoy the season! I look forward to seeing your thoughts when visit you.

My point is neither player is faultless, but we accept that. We accept and admit you deserved 3 points, hopefully the latter will be reversed when we play at sincil bank, hopefully that game will end with 22 players aswell. Although you didn't play great against mansfield I still think and hope you'll win the league and I hope we'll be following you to league 1.
Ps please can we have hawkridge back.

For those of you into your football stats, Experimental 3-6-1 have compiled several scatter graphs of all the teams in League Two based on:
- Shot dominance
- Attacking effectiveness
- Defending effectiveness
- Expected goals
And with regards to the above, Notts County respectively fall in the following categories:
- Quiet attack, quiet defence
- Languidly clinical
- Formidable
- Better attack, better defence
So have a look and a read and tell us what you think.

A big team performance and deserved 3 points.
Collin - 7.5 - Didn't do a thing wrong really, made some important saves but nothing spectacular needed. Comfortable.
Hunt - 7 - So much experience and you can see it, struggles against pace late on but his brain and calmness helps him immensely.
Duffy - 7.5 - Didn't notice him a great deal, so must have played well as a CB. Dealt with strong physical presence of Reid well.
Hewitt - 7.5 - See Duffy
Dickinson - 5.5 - I might be being a tad harsh, but his use of the ball in possession is shocking. Easily our worst technical player, was OK defensively and made a couple of half decent runs.
Walker - 6.5 - Did the nitty gritty work with a couple of decent balls in a position that is not his own. Almost caught out of position a couple of times.
Yates - 7 - Usual battling performance. Couple of bad passes.
Milsom - 8 - Battling performance with a bit more quality on the ball than Yates. Kept us ticking over and seemed to halve another second on the ball than anyone else on the pitch.
Hawkridge - 6.5 - Some decent touches and runs, sloppy in possession at times. Worked hard as always.Stead - 7 - Excellent in the first 20 and looked very dangerous, some neat touches and some not so...
Alessandra - 7.5 - Odd to see him winning so many hoof-balls up to him, not sure if that was all him or Exeter's sloppy defence played a part. Well taken goal in the 1st/2nd minute, and a constant pain for Exeter.
Subs:
Grant - 7.5 - Didn't do a great deal, which sounds odd as he scored two goals, but got in the right positions and finished well. A menace.
Forte - 7 - Brilliant assist for the winner, pace is a menace and has an impact from the bench or when starting... options...
Smith - N/A
Ref - 7 - Thought he was pretty decent tonight. -

wow, 3-0 win over a very decent team. it sounded like we played very well in the second half especially.
so pleased right now!
-
Surprise start to the game to go 1-0 up minutes into the first half.
I thought the team defended bravely after a shaky period, the players re-group at half time. I don't know what Kevin Nolan said but whatever it was they came back out more determined. Richard Duffy was class tonight! Yet Ryan Yates stole the show for me.
He worked very hard and his engine never stopped.
-
I just want to say it, WE ARE STILL TOP OF LEAGUE TWO.
3-0 win over Exeter? Fantastic!
-
So having seen him play against us on Saturday and with him being heavily linked in the summer too us, what are peoples thoughts on him and should we have signed him?
Personally i think yes, when Lincoln were sitting comfortably in the first half i thought he looked sharp with his strike partner. But the question is would he fit into a team and is he better than Ameobi or Stead? Let me know what you. Im 50/50 but i could somehow see him fitting into the team well around him (Grant, Hawkridge, Yates).

There's several entertaining TV shows that I am addicted to watching, which is pleasing because it seemed to be narrowing down due to quality and lack of free time to watch anything on normal TV.
I'm curious, what is your favourite TV show currently?
A few weeks back I would have said 'Game of Thrones', I love the TV show and I think the last season was pure brilliance - if not a little slower than prior ones but as an whole it was very enjoyable. I also like AMC's 'The Walking Dead' but that's a bit of a love hate relationship now. I can't watch the spin off 'Fear the Walking Dead'. There's also Better Call Saul which would compete, however currently these have all finished airing at the moment.
Here's a few honourable mentions.
Graves - I love this, it's about a former US president dealing with the decisions he made in hindsight.
Kevin Can Wait - very traditional TV sitcom - good entertainment. What about you?
-
Notts County's remaining three fixtures in September are quite the top billing.
First, a local derby against Lincoln City at Meadow Lane.
Then a trip to Exeter City in a clash between first and second in the table (or first and third depending on Saturday's result - hopefully not!)
And then the big one... Mansfield Town away.
As fixture runs go, what are the most taxing / high-profile that you remember over the years?
And in terms of this one, how do you think we'll do? Can we... (hushed tones) make it a 100% month?
