Donga He sold!

Featured Replies

I feel literally sick because I felt this lad could have had a few decent seasons for Notts, yet the clubs rushed to sell him and now the fee we received won't be anywhere near what the club could have gotten if they hung onto him.

I felt it would happen but not this soon, I am surprised Leicester City didn't snap him up after his appearance in the friendly game.

By all accounts he was an exceptional talent, I feel cheated that I didn’t get the chance to see him play in the first team for an extended period.

Why didn’t we hang on for at least a season surely his value could only increase?

I'm struggling to put into words how I feel.

There's a lot of disappointment going through my mind, yet I am excited for Donga He - he seemed to have a bright future and I do hope for the best for him. I just feel Notts have been very quick to market the lad, now we know why there was such a rush to field some of the youngsters. He told me and @Magic magpieΒ that he had signed a professional deal and had been told he would fit into the first team plans.

@super_pieΒ and his friend Callum really took to him.

I hope it's the decision for both parties, I would be annoyed if Wolves wasted his career and stopped his pathway into the first-team.

I was looking forward to seeing him burst into the first team, he looked a great prospect in pre-season. I would have thought he was worth more to Notts now, then he would be to Wolves. The club could have had a player that may have inspired more youngsters to lift their ability, it would have looked good for the academy and it seems like the club has rushed to market him.

I'm very disappointed.

Wow, I feel shocked.

Alan Hardy has been quick to tag the deal as a "brilliant opportunity" and it is, although the way bigger clubs chew up only to spit young players out is a bit of a downer. I wouldn't fancy writing Donga He off, he looks a talent for sure. I just feel that it doesn't give any sort of "pathway" to the younger players, if anything it shows we are just in the market of selling them without improving as a club.

The academy doesn't look that well ran when you see all the good prospects sold and then this happens.

Does Alan Hardy understand how passionate we are about having produced our own players that are capable of playing first team football?

This is like cutting off your leg in order to save your arm, it makes no sense. I would have hung onto him and denied his request that he allegedly put in when Wolves put the offer in. Extremely disappointing!

I started this topic, why has it been changed to PoN News @Chris??

I've explained on Messenger after I noticed, I went to edit the post so that I could use a custom meta image for the social media cards but it just reverted the poster instead.

Sorry!

No problem, don’t want you stealing my thunder, not often I get in first with news. ????

didn't see the messenger post.

Huge mistake by the club.

I see Alan Hardy has explained a lot of it on Twitter, I don't know, it reads like justification more than it comes across as the reason. I am sure the club could have retained him and kept the interest there. Opportunity lost I feel by Notts.

Let's face it he was bound to leave sooner or later, would people rather us have gotten nothing?

Once the lad knew he had some serious interest, he would have wanted to be off and it may have impacted his development or performances. It was clear the lad was a special act but praise the scouts for finding him.

Absolutely gutted for all you Pies.Having read the reports on hisΒ early pre-season game I was looking forward to seeing if all the hype about him was true.Well against Leicester his cameo appearanceΒ really excited me.I was expecting to monitor his future progress with Notts. When @super_pieΒ had his photo took with him and we spoke to him he came over asΒ a genuinelyΒ  nice young lad and seemed surprised how much weΒ enthused over his display.I don't understand the ' whys and wherefores'Β  of the situation but it doesn't seem fair to me the way things have turned out.I wish him well and I hope his potential isn't wasted at Wolves.

I would speculate that the comments made on the radio about the amount of money over the transfer budget Notts are, was nothing more than a pre-planned attempt to lessen the blow of this. The fact Hardy has deleted the tweet about the lad sold to Liverpool, I just feel Hardy has done enough to avoid criticism. Yes it's very disappointing but Notts may eventually become a selling club.

Let's not forget what was said in the topic @samwatto2008 started about the Peterborough United chairman.

I think it's a crying shame that we could not of held onto for at least a season. I thought he would have broken into our squad and this would have been better than sitting on aΒ academies bench.

I think it's outrageous to say the least.

There's no point in the academy if the club is going to sell the best first-year scholars and if he's under contract, of course the club can reject. I would have accepted this if it was next season but I just find it hard to accept now.

Look the club has to sell players, the club can't win either way because if they hadn't accepted this the fee could have been much lower.

I get that everyone wanted to see Donga He feature in some form during this season but he's moved on, why does things like this always resort in some form of meltdown. I praise Alan Hardy for not coming off Twitter tonight.

It's a real shame for us. Football is a spectator sport. Surely it would have been better for everyone if we had the chance to watch him play and develop, rather than him playing youth team football in front of one man and his dog?

Going by Alan Hardy's first tweet, it appears that youth player contracts are not worth the paper they're written on. I think this rule was part of the Football League's deal with the Premier League for a bit of extra revenue.

He could have been a flash in the pan and turned out like the rest of the youth players we have had, I am not saying he was because I thought he looked a quality prospect but I am glad the club got something for a player.

It makes a change.
