Notts County midfielder Dan Crowley has emerged as a key figure in the club's unbeaten start to the League Two season. The 27-year-old has already scored three goals and provided four assists in six appearances, helping the team maintain their position at the top of the table. Crowley shared his thoughts on the team’s progress and the changes that have contributed to their success so far. “It’s really good to be fair,” said Crowley when asked about the current mood in the camp. “It’s weird. It’s quite a chilled group to be honest. The players are very chilled. I think everyone’s just kind of going about their business… we’re not getting too excited, we’re just really enjoying our football, we’re playing really well.” Despite the excitement surrounding their strong start, Crowley explained that the squad remains level-headed. “Obviously we, you know, we’re not stupid, we know we’re top of the table and unbeaten. But in terms of getting carried away, it’s just… the lads are really level-headed, and we’re just focused onto Saturday.” Reflecting on the disappointment of the previous season, Crowley acknowledged that the team has learned valuable lessons and made significant improvements. “Last season was disappointing, you know, how we finished, but it was a great learning curve for all of us,” he admitted. “The new additions have been great for the squad, you know, everyone can see how well they’ve impacted the team this season.” The changes in personnel have had a noticeable effect, with new players contributing to a more cohesive and successful unit. “When you have that many new players, it can be… you don’t have the connection yet, you don’t build that relationship on the pitch yet,” Crowley said of the transition. “But the way we’ve started on the pitch says it feels like, you know, we’ve all really gelled together.” Crowley also spoke about how the club’s clear identity and tactical structure have helped new players settle in quickly. “When you have a style of play that kind of never changes, it makes it easy for new players to come in. If it’s always changing… we don’t really have an identity. But the gaffer and Matty and Craig [Saunders] and all the staff have made it pretty clear how we want to play,” Crowley explained. “The instructions that the coaches give to them make it very easy for them. We’re a really good team, and it’s a good set of lads,” he added, praising the coaching staff for ensuring the team’s playing philosophy remains clear and consistent. This summer, Crowley, like teammate Jodi Jones, was the subject of transfer speculation, but he remained unfazed by the rumours. “It was fine to be honest. I’m used to football now. If you’re in a team that’s doing really well, as an individual you’re going to be playing well. I’m used to seeing speculation around players, and I’ve had it before in my career,” Crowley said. While he appreciated the attention from other clubs, Crowley made it clear where his focus lies. “My focus is on Notts. I’m a Notts County player, I love it here, it’s a great club. Everyone can see how much I’m enjoying my football now, you only have to watch how we play, and you know how I’m performing to see how much I love it here,” he said. Looking ahead to the weekend’s top-of-the-table clash against Gillingham, Crowley was measured in his response. “In a way yes, but then like in a way no, it’s just another game at Meadow Lane and everyone knows how good we are here and how good we have been,” he said when asked if the match felt particularly significant. Crowley did acknowledge, however, that a positive result could bolster the team’s confidence. “If we get a good result on Saturday against second in the league, then I think you can kind of see where you’re going to be. It doesn’t define you in your season, but if you get a good result against a really good side who are at the top of the table with us, it can really open our eyes.” As Notts County continue their push for promotion, Crowley’s contributions on the pitch, along with the team’s unity and focus, have given fans at Meadow Lane plenty to be optimistic about. Good comments from Dan Crowley. He could easily be the captain. I am not suggesting he should be, as I like Matt Palmer in the role, but Crowley’s comments are those of a leader and someone who sees his importance to the side. It’s good he’s enjoying his football. I hope he manages to get double figures this season for us.23 points

Quality player! I'm delighted to see him thriving and fully enjoying life at Notts. I hope his words are a bit of comfort to those who worry about him being sold or leaving. I prefer not to concentrate on that. I wait for it to happen because it’s out of my control. What I do is see the improvements such a good player brings to the team. Dan Crowley is a great talent, and seeing him play for us in League Two gives me hope that we can gain promotion to League One.23 points

You have to respect and appreciate what Dan Crowley brings to the team. He’s 27 now, and for us, we could go up the leagues with him as one of our star players. I don’t think there’s much sense in worrying; we just have to enjoy the football and value what he brings week in and week out. He’s such a quality player and a big part of the success we are experiencing. I am pleased to read his comments about the new players settling in. He’s right about how not changing every style or completely overhauling the squad helps to bring in settled players.23 points

Dan Crowley has continued with the form he showed last season. He is an integral part of the Notts side & with Jodi we have two of the most exciting players in League 2. The Notts side has clearly strengthened since last season & Dan is clearly positive about the possibility of getting success this season. It's heartening to read that Dan is focused on Notts & that he loves being here, & that he thinks Notts are a great Club, but it would be nice to see him extend his contract, by putting pen to paper. Meanwhile, all Notts fans will be hoping that Dan, Jodi, Jatta & Co, can lead Notts to a win against Gillingham on Saturday. Dan played down the significance of the Gillingham match but I'm sure Dan knows, like everyone else, that a win would be absolutely massive for Notts.23 points

I’m thrilled with how Crowley’s been performing! His contribution of goals and assists is pivotal for our unbeaten run. His level-headedness, despite being top of the table, shows great leadership and maturity. Crowley’s comments about the team’s chilled and focused nature are reassuring, especially as we head into key matches like the one against Gillingham. The mention of new players seamlessly fitting into the squad highlights the excellent work by the coaching staff too. Keeping rumours at bay and focusing on Notts is exactly what we need. Crowley's love for the club and his desire to stay and fight for glory make him a true asset.23 points

i think sometimes players have to focus on their performances instead of where they could be going or discussing contract talks, i can imagine the business side of football can be quite dull. i dont have much worries about crowley extending, so we can afford to give him time. it feels like we can go places, plus he has scored more goals for us and his made over 50 appearances which seems to have flown under the radar. i am glad to read his comments, he is a notts player and he goes by the name of...23 points

Stuart Maynard, head coach of Notts County, has expressed optimism about the progress of his squad as they head into a critical clash against Gillingham. Speaking about the team’s readiness, Maynard highlighted the positive strides made in key areas, including the return of players from injury, improved defensive solidity, and the vital support from the fans. Maynard revealed encouraging updates on several players recovering from injuries. Rob McDonald and Lucas Ness are nearing full fitness, with McDonald back in training and Ness following closely behind. Both are expected to be ready for selection in the coming weeks, which Maynard described as "brilliant for us" in ensuring squad depth. He also shared that Scott Robertson and Cedwyn Scott are progressing well, with Scott potentially available within a fortnight. Reflecting on the team's improved performances, Maynard attributed their better grasp of his system to the full pre-season the squad had under their belts. Last season’s teething issues have given way to a more cohesive unit, and Maynard credits the extensive training period for helping them refine their approach. "Pre-season has been huge for us... to get all the key points and different factors," he explained, emphasizing that this preparation has been crucial in implementing both attacking and defensive strategies. Notts County's ability to score goals remains a hallmark of Maynard’s system, even when influential players like Jodi Jones and Dan Crowley were absent. He praised the team for continuing to find the back of the net, with their structured approach allowing other players to step up. Maynard highlighted Jones' versatility, saying, "He's starting to score goals... and the defenders don’t know which way he's going now," pointing to Jones' newfound unpredictability on the pitch. However, it’s not just about attacking for Maynard. He stressed the importance of defending as a team and credited the entire squad, from the forwards to the wing-backs, for their commitment to protecting the goal. While players like Jacob Bedeau, Louis Macari, and Alex Bass in goal have been standout performers, Maynard emphasised that the collective defensive effort has been key to their unbeaten start. "It's not just an emphasis on the defence... it's on the group," he said. Looking ahead to the upcoming game against Gillingham, Maynard acknowledged the physical challenge posed by their opponents but reaffirmed his commitment to sticking to Notts County’s playing style. "We always look at ourselves first and foremost," he stated, while also recognizing the need to match Gillingham's physicality. As always, Maynard called on the fans to play their part, pointing to their impact during the recent 4-2 comeback against Bromley. "The fans have been incredible... we need Meadow Lane rocking," he urged, stressing the importance of their role as the "12th man" in driving the team forward. With momentum building and players returning from injury, Maynard’s confidence in his squad is clear. However, he remains grounded, insisting that while the team’s unbeaten run has bred confidence, the focus is solely on the next challenge: Gillingham at Meadow Lane. In our latest article, Dan Crowley reaffirms his commitment to the club, stating, "My focus is on Notts. I’m a Notts County player," highlighting the strong bond within the Pride of Nottingham community. Join the Pride of Nottingham today to connect with fellow fans and celebrate the spirit of our club! Dan Crowley's form has been nothing short of inspirational. He has genuinely stepped up this season, both in terms of performance and leadership. His acknowledgment of last season’s disappointment shows maturity, and the way the squad has bounced back is impressive. The added points about how new players have quickly adapted highlights not just the talent of the individuals but also the collective effort from the coaching staff. Crowley’s dedication to Notts amidst transfer speculations speaks volumes about his commitment and love for the club. It’s this kind of dedication and unity that can carry a team through tough fixtures and onto greater achievements.21 points
-
Crowley's dedication to Notts is genuinely refreshing. His contribution both on and off the pitch this season has been monumental. Scoring three goals and assisting four in just six appearances speaks volumes about his skill and commitment. It's clear he has immense respect for the club and the fans, and it’s evident in every match. The way he talks about the team's cohesion and their grounded nature despite leading the table is admirable. It's players like Crowley who can steer us to success.21 points

Crowley has really emerged as a linchpin for the team. His contributions on the pitch, scoring and assisting in crucial games, have not gone unnoticed. It’s refreshing to see a player so grounded and focused despite the success. His reflections on last season’s shortcomings and the understanding that they’ve learned and grown from it show a mature and strategic mindset. The stability provided by the coaching staff and the clear playing philosophy have undoubtedly made a huge difference. It’s fantastic to have a player like Crowley who loves the club and remains steadfast amidst external speculations.20 points

Absolutely buzzing with how Crowley’s playing this season. His commitment is clear, and it’s brilliant to see such passion for Notts!20 points

Dan Crowley has made some good comments in his recent presser. I think a lot of professionals try to make sure they are focused on their performances ahead of transfer talks. Extending a contract might not mean he will see that length out, but not having him under contract means we risk further competition from teams looking for a bargain. The thing is, he’s here now and he’s doing well. Nothing in his performances suggests he will be leaving any time soon.19 points

This Saturday, Notts County return to Meadow Lane for a top-of-the-table clash against Gillingham FC. Both sides are in fine form, with the Magpies leading the way in League Two, closely followed by the Gills, setting the stage for an exciting contest. Notts County have made Meadow Lane a fortress this season, boasting four consecutive wins and remaining unbeaten in six league matches. Stuart Maynard’s side have shown attacking prowess, notably in their recent 4-1 victory over Grimsby Town and the 2-0 triumph against Accrington Stanley. The Magpies will be looking to extend their perfect home record, with fans eager to see their team push for another three points. Key players like Dan Crowley, with his creative midfield presence, and forward Alassana Jatta, who continues to impress in front of goal, will play pivotal roles. Maynard has spoken of the importance of maintaining momentum and keeping Meadow Lane a challenging venue for any visiting side. With injuries to Curtis Edwards and doubts over Cedwyn Scott, Scott Robertson, and Lucas Ness, the Magpies' squad depth could be tested, though the return of Rod McDonald to training is a welcome boost. Mark Bonner’s Gillingham side arrive in Nottingham with confidence following a 3-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers. The Gills sit second in the table, just behind Notts County, and will be determined to continue their strong start to the campaign. While their away form has been less convincing, with a 1-0 win at Morecambe followed by a draw at Fleetwood and a defeat at Doncaster, Bonner believes this game is a good early-season test for his squad. Key players to watch for Gillingham include midfielder Armani Little, whose energy in the middle of the park could dictate their tempo, and full-back Remeao Hutton, who has been influential on the flanks. Johnny Williams returns to the side, adding experience, but they will miss Ethan Coleman due to suspension and are waiting on fitness updates for Josh Andrews and Bradley Deck. This clash promises to be a fascinating tactical battle between two in-form sides. Notts County’s attacking depth, bolstered by Jodi Jones and Dan Crowley’s creativity, will aim to break down a Gillingham defence that has looked solid in recent games. On the other hand, Gillingham's ability to remain compact while hitting on the counter, utilising Hutton’s pace down the wings, could pose problems for the Magpies. The midfield duel between Crowley and Little will likely be decisive, with both players capable of unlocking defences and setting the tempo. Maynard’s men will need to maintain their composure, especially with the Gills backed by around 1,000 travelling fans. With both teams riding high in the league, this promises to be an intense, high-stakes encounter. For Notts County, maintaining their unbeaten record and keeping their grip on the top spot will be the focus. For Gillingham, it’s a chance to prove their credentials away from home. Expect a thrilling contest at Meadow Lane, where the Magpies' attacking quality will be tested against Gillingham’s resolute defence. I'm really optimistic about our chances against Gillingham, especially with key players like Rob McDonald and Lucas Ness close to return. The pre-season definitely seems to have paid off, as Maynard’s system is now well-oiled and effective. The way he has the team both attacking and defending as a unit is commendable. Our ability to score, even without key players like Jodi Jones and Dan Crowley, speaks volumes about the squad’s depth and adaptability. Maynard is right to focus on our style, while matching Gillingham's physicality. Can't wait for the match, Meadow Lane should be rocking!18 points
-
Really impressed with Crowley's attitude and performance. Shows how much he values the club!18 points

Stuart Maynard has really turned things around for Notts County. The pre-season seems to have been a game-changer, allowing the squad to gel and refine their approach. I’m particularly pleased with the emphasis on defensive solidity, players like Jacob Bedeau and Louis Macari have been outstanding, and it’s great to see the whole team buying into the defensive responsibilities.17 points
-
It’s good news about the returning players. Defensively, I think we are fine. My concerns are more with Cedwyn Scott and the front line, as this is an area we can’t lose too many players. I know we have Jevani Brown, who could come in, but as I say, it’s largely positive news. I think Stuart Maynard has a good chance of managing the situation with injuries and giving some players who might not have had minutes more time.17 points
-
The squad is looking good. Maynard keeps mentioning the depth, and we do have that. I am not too concerned about players being injured while we are playing well. They will just be a boost when they are ready. We don’t need to worry so much about that. Just focus on the form and keeping Meadow Lane a fortress. It would be great to continue our impressive start against Gillingham tomorrow.17 points
-
its good to see that we have some players returning, that is important with the loss of curtis edwards. i am encouraged to see what lucas ness is like, but i dont think he should start ahead of lewis macari. macari has been brilliant at the back for us so far!17 points
-
It's comforting to see how grounded the team remains despite our top position. Crowley’s doing brilliantly.17 points
-
Notts have been exceptional at home, and I have faith that they will continue their winning streak. The combination of Crowley’s creativity and Jodi’s finishing has been remarkable to watch. It’s a shame about the injuries, but the return of McDonald provides a boost. Gillingham could pose a threat with their compact defence and counter-attacks, but I think we’ve got the quality to handle them. It’ll be interesting to see how the midfield battle pans out, particularly with Crowley and Little going head-to-head. I predict a tight match but believe we’ll edge it.16 points
-
Maynard’s got the lads playing some top football. It’ll be tough for Gillingham to break us down. Can’t wait!16 points
-
its going to be a test for sure, i think we stand every chance of doing well because we have improved a lot this season already and we just need to make sure any chances are finished. gillingham might have a good defence, but they will need to be at their best, as will we tomorrow.16 points
-
This game is going to be big for both sides. Both Notts & Gillingham have had good starts to the season & will be both keen to continue their good runs. Notts can go into the game with lots of confidence. Since the teams last met Notts have improved considerably in defence & Gillingham the same in their attacking game. Key players for Notts will be Platt, Palmer, Crowley, Jones, Jatta & McGoldrick. It will be a close game with no quarter given. I believe it will be low scoring with the odd goal winning it. I'm confident that Notts will just edge it on Saturday. I say 2:1 Notts.16 points
-
A massive game on the cards this weekend! Notts have been superb this season, especially at home, and I believe we can give Gillingham a tough time. The injuries are a concern, but seeing McDonald back in training is encouraging. This clash is likely to be decided by the midfield battle, and I trust Crowley to lead us. Gillingham’s counter-attacks could be tricky, but our unbeaten streak at Meadow Lane gives me a lot of confidence. A proper test, but I’m backing the lads to get all three points.15 points
-
It’s not just about defence; our attacking play remains sharp, even when key players are out. Jones’ newfound unpredictability and the overall team’s willingness to step up are encouraging signs. Maynard’s optimism is well-founded, especially with key players returning from injury. The next game against Gillingham will be a real test, but I’m confident we’re up for it, especially with the fan support at Meadow Lane. Let’s bring the noise and be that 12th man!15 points
-
Solid defensive team effort! Exactly what's needed to keep our unbeaten run going.15 points
-
It's good news that the injured players are close to returning back to the team. Stuart will manage their return in his own way & he will not rush things. I give Stuart lots of credit for how the team is playing. His methods are clearly working at this time & he must be highly delighted. Stuart will have to keep the players firmly focused on playing one game at a time, & to ensure that they keep their feet firmly on the ground. The players will know the significance of this game with Gillingham. What we do know, is that Stuart will have planned well, & will pick a team to specifically deal with the Gillingham threat. CMON U PIES.15 points
-
Another big game at Meadow Lane! It's great to see the team in such good form. Onward and upward, lads!14 points
-
Can’t wait for this clash! Gillingham might be a strong side, but we’ve got the upper hand with our recent form at Meadow Lane. The way Maynard has the lads playing, especially with such cohesion in attack and defence, makes me confident. The midfield battle will be crucial, and if Crowley can dictate the play as he has been, I see us coming out on top. Here's to maintaining our unbeaten run and staying at the top of the table. COYP!14 points
-
Fantastic news about Ness and McDonald. Their return will be a massive boost for us.14 points
-
This match against Gillingham is truly shaping up to be a proper six-pointer. With both teams in fine form and so close in the league standings, Meadow Lane will be buzzing. Maynard has done wonders with our attacking play, and the confidence in the squad. Gillingham won't be easy, especially with their counter-attacking prowess, but I believe in our ability to maintain our unbeaten run, particularly with Crowley, Jones and McGoldrick in such stellar form.11 points
-
The midfield battle will be pivotal. If Crowley can dominate, I see us getting all three points against Gillingham.11 points
-
I don’t think so, not anytime soon anyway. Macca was probably the closest we’ll get for a while and considering he was only here for 2 seasons he did astonishingly well to get as many as he did especially when you consider Les had the luxury of 11 seasons! Imagine if Macca had been here for that long, we’d probably be looking at a total of over 200 goals! Jatta has made a good start but he’ll probably need to be here for a number of seasons to get close to the total and that rarely happens these days. And even if he continues scoring, he’ll soon attract the attention of clubs higher up and that’s another problem. A striker who’s banging them will always have bigger clubs wanting to sign them and sadly there's always going to be a club that can offer a contract that Notts just can't compete with.10 points
-
I think we would have to have a striker that is prolific, and here for the majority of their career. I do think it will be broken, I thought Macaulay Langstaff would leave having earned the record. There's every chance that he might come back, probably not next season but in the future. Even at 30-years-old I think he would bag goals in our squad. It's going to take a lot of effort to break it, if not Langstaff, than I say, someone who can score 15–20 goals per season and at the club long enough to do this. It's possible. I'm not saying this is true, but there was a rumour going round that we sold Macaulay Langstaff to protect Les Bradd's record.10 points
-
To me, our season starts here. This will be the yardstick as to how far we have come this season and will match the divisions highest scorers against the stingiest (I think?) defence. Will be interesting, but I wouldn’t change too much. Probably Tsaroulla back with JJ on the right. Palmer & Abbott in midfield with Crowley & Didzy behind the Jattattack. Can see this going 2-1 either way.10 points
-
I’m really looking forward to seeing how the boys measure up against Gillingham. The unbeaten run has been impressive, but this will be one of the stiffest challenges yet. Notts have shown incredible strength at home, particularly with the attacking performances. The injury list is a bit of a worry, especially with Curtis Edwards, Cedwyn Scott and Scott Robertson. But Stuart Maynard has instilled a fantastic team spirit, and I believe the lads will rise to the occasion. Gillingham’s defence might be tough, but with our attacking prowess, we can break them down and grab the three points.9 points
-
We’ve been in good form, and I hope we can keep it up tomorrow. Gillingham seem similar to us, as they’ve had injuries but managed them well. I’m not sure if they have a big squad, but I feel we have a good chance against them.9 points
-
I don’t think we will if we remain a League Two team, maybe not even if we establish ourselves as a League One team. Macaulay Langstaff would have been the only exception to this because he scored for fun. I think the quality would have to be someone with better abilities than most League One teams because they don’t stay around long enough.9 points
-
Let's just add a Little Bit of Spice, to the Above Question, by elaborating on it. Do you think it was harder to score Goals at the Time Les was at his Peak, or Nowadays in Macca's Era ?9 points
-
It really is a must-win game. Meadow Lane will be packed with fans, and it is important that we continue to win games on our own soil. I would take a point, but a win would be far more important to keep morale as high as possible. We have the likes of Jones, Crowley, Jatta, and McGoldrick, who, if on their day, are very difficult to play against. Gillingham might have injuries within their squad, but so do we. I think it’s important that Notts tries to maintain a winning record, at least at home. At the same time, I respect how we are unbeaten so far. I hope the players can avoid that come kick off.9 points
-
Gillingham aren’t as good as they think. They have done well so far and deserve credit for that, but comparing our sides, we are very blessed, and that quality should shine through. I think it will be a lively encounter, with the first half ending 0-0. The second half is where I imagine the action will unfold, and I hope it is in favour of Notts rather than them.9 points
-
The game against Gillingham should be entertaining. I hope we start with real determination to stick the ball into the back of their net early on. Then we can pass the ball around, making them work to get hold of it. Just before the end of the first half, if a second goal can be scored, I think it would be good night. This is the ideal scenario in my head. The worst is that they repeat what Fleetwood Town did, and we have to go into the second half more determined. I think they will be tough, but supposedly they have quite a few injuries to their first team, so who knows if they will turn up.9 points
-
The game with Gillingham is going to be our toughest yet this season. This match will tell us much about Notts's promotion credentials. I would play our strongest available 11 to start the match, that would be Bass, Macari, Bedeau, Platt, Tsaroulla, Palmer, Abbott, Crowley, Jones, McGoldrick & Jatta, Tsaroulla would be the left wing back & Jones right wing McGoldrick supporting Jatta up front. Those selections are subject to all being fit . The key areas for Notts will be as always, in defence. Notts have to try to stop the unnecessary mistakes at the back because Gillingham will b looking for them with their high press. If Notts can stay firm at the back, I will back our attacking prowess, to find a way through during the match. I'm going for a low scoring game. A 1:0 to Notts would be great, but I wouldn't be disappointed with a draw.9 points
-
Some Gillingham fans (not all) have this game won already by them, which is something I wish our fans avoid doing. It's one thing to predict the score, but it's extreme when you act like you are going to win the league and write off the team you are playing. That reflects a significant lack of understanding or may even verge on delusional thinking. I think they will be a good test for us, but I am confident about our home form and the ability we have within the team. This doesn't mean I would underestimate Gillingham at the slightest, because I know games like this can lift teams. Neither of us can underestimate any team, I mean I felt the game would be hard against Bromley, and whilst I didn't foresee them taking the lead - I don't think anyone would have done so early. Gillingham's fans would be foolish to believe we are in a false position, because it would show that they haven't seen any of our highlights. I would happily accept a draw, but I do think we have the quality to win the game. My prediction would be 2-1, I think we'll lead, and then they'll equalise perhaps before the end of the first half. For us to score around the 65th-70th minute and then the rest of the game will be a bit nervous at times.9 points
-
I understand the worry about other teams being linked to him, but I don’t think we need to stress about his contract. Let him focus on his football, and when he’s ready, we’ll know what his decision is. Fans complaining that he hasn’t signed a new deal or saying he’s going to leave don’t have a clue.8 points

Gillingham have had 3 red cards already this season. They're not a dirty team so that is a bit surprising. Anyway they are a decent side, tipped by many to win the league. They lost at Doncaster, another favourite for promotion, and I think Notts will beat them as well.8 points
-
i think if we can win and play well, it will lean into the belief that we could remain near the top throughout the season. its a long way for all of us, but our form has been very good and its for gillingham to prove themselves to go top or to beat us. pressure might be on us to maintain our position, but in front of meadow lane i think we would always have a good chance of doing that. i hope its a good game and gillingham fans come in numbers.8 points
