Some of you might have heard about this in the news ... the former Chesterfield and Huddersfield player Jordan Sinnott has died at the age of just 25 after suffering a fractured skull after a night out in Retford.

For any of you planning a night out next weekend, just remember to look after yourselves and avoid anyone who's looking for trouble. It only takes one idiot for something tragic to happen :(

I noticed  on Saturday that both Alfreton Town and Matlock Town's games had been postponed due to  unforeseen circumstances ..On further internet investigation I discovered there had been an unrelated murder in Alfreton on Thursday. This news came as a bit of a shock having grown up in Alfreton and watching Town when The Rams weren't playing.Violent times ! RIP Jordon Sinnott.

I noticed not long after it happened, it's been doing the rounds on social media and it's very saddening.

These types of things shouldn't happen, I know I'm saying the obvious but I am surprised that there's no CCTV etc. I have noticed tweets from the players dad, appealing for witnesses. I hope they catch anyone involved and, they get a serve punishment.

Seen it on the new and online, horrible repercussion for such a young player. On a night out too. :(

He was 26 right? That's no age.

The cause of the attack probably should have been resolved, just idiots looking to be big. Rest in Peace.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

In response to an appeal by his family, Notts have donated a shirt and will hold a minute's applause on Saturday. While fans of other clubs are still waiting for a response, Notts have reacted quickly and unbureaucratically - top marks.

@Chris it happened on the market square near four banks and a taxi rank, so I'd be amazed if there weren't any CCTV footage. I see the alleged perpetrators have been charged with manslaughter now.

Yes, it was good to see Notts, Forest and Mansfield joining in this campaign to pay tribute to Jordan Sinnott.

I believe there will be a minutes silence before the game tomorrow too.

It's nice to see the unity from the football clubs paying respect, I hope it goes along way to drumming some sense into people. Things like this shouldn't happen, its very pointless.

Rest in Peace Jordan Sinnott.

A police officer made a statement involved Central News, about a lack of witness due to there being no visible CCTV.

Not sure, if this is true or just them trying to build a better case by getting people to come forward.

His dad also shared some open appeals via Twitter, asking for members of the public to bring justice to Jordan.

I don’t really know the area, but I am pleased it seems the case has been solved.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.
