  1. So match day three day of the Europa league is 24 hours away as teams from England head in to games that could see them put one foot in the round of 32.

    Group E kick off 5.55

    Sporting Lisbon  v Arsenal

so Arsenal sit top of the group with 6 points on goal difference with sporting Lisbon sitting second with 6 points. Sporting on paper are the hardest team Arsenal have in there Group. if they can win they can open up a 3 point gap on sporting and depending on the result from the other game a 8 point or 6 point lead if they can Arsenal can put one foot in the round of 32.

    Group L

Chelsea v BATE Borisov kick off 8pm

So Chelsea head in to match day three at Stamford bridge knowing if they Win they keep there 100% percent record alive. Keeping there chance of the last 32 still very much alive they would open up a 6 point gap between them selfs and the 3rd place. A possibility of 3 points between them and second. Not the competition Chelsea want but very much the competition they are giving there all in.

  2. I have listened to the latest Pride of Nottingham PONcast.

@samwatto2008 said that he believes the squad is a promotion winning side, the quality added to the bulk of last seasons squad did have fans excited during the pre-season. Do you feel Notts could get there?

I realise some members might not want to get carried away but if you listen to the PONcast, Sam's right about the league table and how early it still is. If the form continues Notts could see themselves in the upper half of the table and this would make it all to play for. I whole heatedly agree that Notts needs to stay grounded but that dream of achieving something positive could spur the side to click successfully.

  3. We all know that Sergio Ramos doesn’t have the squeaky record when it comes to tackling and challenging for the ball. One only has to look at last years champions league final and the early foul which saw mo salah leave the game because of it.

But it seems that he has been involved with one of Reals youngsters in training. where he caught a shoulder in the nose and completely lost it with the youngster.

It seems that after Reguilon accidentally caught him, Ramos took aim by kicking a ball directly  at him Ramos has since apologised for the incident.

Whether an accident or not, with the amount of fouls and dirty tactics he employees, this is him merely getting what he deserves or karma maybe.

But then one could say it was a accident and leave it there but either way a total overreaction on his part as the most senior of players in the squad he should be setting the example.

But is he exerting his aurthoraty over the youngster or maybe embarrassed.

Whats yours thoughts guys and girls.

  4. Good morning PoN I hope we are all ok, apart from the result last night of course. WE WUZ ROBBED but we’ll leave that discussion for elsewhere on the forum.

Its a cloudy start but fairly mild, today we are going clothes shopping in preparation for our cruise in a few weeks time, Mrs Big Tone wants to go to Alfreton and then we’re moving on to McCarther Glen at Junction 28, so that’ll be fun...NOT.

Firework season seems to have started early this year with several loud bangs going off last night round here I really wish they’d ban the sale of these things except for organised displays or at least limit the noise they can make it’s getting ridiculous. A friend of ours has a dog which goes into a frenzy at this time of year so they have to go away for the period around bonfire night for the sake of the poor dog.

Right time for breakfast I hope you all have a good day.

Disappointing result, the team needs to pull back together and get back on track.

Gutting result last night but I really couldn't fault the players, it was by far the best I've seen us play this season, and granted the bar was not too high before last night but we showed a lot of spirit to put in a performance like that after Saturday. MK Dons kept the ball well but we were well organised and didn't give them any clear chances, and we were a constant threat on the break. Once the goal went in you could see us grow in confidence. Their goalie pulled off a fantastic save to keep it 1-0 at half time, and for the first 10 or 15 minutes of the second half we were all over them. Alessandra had the golden chance to put us in control when the goalie kicked it straight to him, but I don't think he realised just how much time he had. He could've easily passed it onto the net but decided to try and chip a 6 and a half foot goalkeeper, and well the rest is history.

Penalty or no penalty, it's worth pointing out that it was one long ball through the ball which split us wide open and resulted in their lead running through on goal which led to the penalty.

Even with ten men we had a couple of chances but it was one of them nights. I just hope we can replicate that type of performance, because if we do we're definitely going to win more games than we lose. Add that killer touch and we'll go a long way

It sounds like we were unlucky to lose and the performance was much better, let’s hope the Bury game was a bad day at the office and last nights performance will become the norm because as @weymouthPIE says if we play like that we’ll win more than we lose.

  7. So the fa cup draw is completed and Notts County will face league one Barnsley away at Oakwell in the first round of the fa cup.

The tie will take place 9th-12th November

I thought the world was nearly dead. Got to say the chances of me watching it till the end of the series are very slim .. so unbelievable it’s u true ..

Any one watch the walking dead.?

  10. Morning folks, It’s a dry start but looks to be quite breezy out there, I’ve only just woke up which is a rare lie in for me.

Just read @super_ram‘s extra update from yesterday and it sounds really positive news about @GrannyPie I’m pleased she’s doing well, keep up the good work granny.

I’m not sure what we’ve got on the agenda today so I’ll wait and see what happens but obviously it’s match night so I’ll be listening to that tonight fearing the worse but hoping for the best.

    Have a great day everyone.

  11. So the draw for the first round of the fa cup has been made and for the lucky non league teams who have managed to out last the four qualifying rounds this is there chance to write there own chapter in the fa cup history books.

The underdogs has long been refeared to teams who come in to a game with the odds stacked against them and for some reason that label in the fa cup has sparked teams in to the folk law of the fa cup.

Where the common man playing for a amateur or semi pro can fulfill dreams and make it to the Stamford bridge anfield. But needing to survive six  rounds first.

This has been done before the Blyth spartons , Crawley , just name two Crawley making to old Trafford Blyth refusing to surrender and making it all the way to 3rd round.

But for me the teams I remember was little chesterfield against Middlesbrough chesterfield refusing to bow and after being 2-0 they battled there way back to earn a replay. Heading in to the replay people thought that Middlesbrough would walk it they didn’t chesterfield went a head not once but three times. Tired and exhausted they got a goal in extra but with seconds to go Middlesbrough forced penalty’s where chesterfield finally succumbed to the premiereship team. Beaten but by no means disgraced chesterfield had arrived showing that any team can have its day.

Notts county against Manchester City and Swansea as well we have played our part in the magic of this daring to dream pushing the big dogs all the way and earning the respect that comes with it.

All I can say is shocks are coming giant killings two...

What are you guys and girls memories of the fa cup.?

  12. So after today 4-0 defeat my question girls and boys is will Harry change anything for the Tuesday night tie away at MK Dons or will he change anyone weather defence or attack.?

  13. So it seems that Usain Bolt has been offered a professional football contract by Australian side Central coast according to his agent ..

  14. Good morning, it’s still dark but dry I think at the moment, the minimum overnight low was 4.1 degrees so a bit chilly out there to start the day.

I see the EU are talking about not changing the clocks and EU countries are to decide which time they want to use winter or summer, although we are due to leave the EU this will happen whilst we are still bound by their rules. Should be interesting.

Today we are going to do a big shop at Lidl and later pick up grandsons George and Freddie from school, give them their tea and put them to bed so that their mum can go to her choir practice while dad is in the States at a conference.

@super_ram thanks for yesterday’s update on @GrannyPie‘s progress, I hope they can treat her skin complaint in Nottingham rather than transfer her to Birmingham, it’s going to be a bit difficult for visiting to say the least. Give her our love when you see her.

@Chris @cheeky~k8 @super_pie and family, I hope the sun is shining for you at Skeggy so you don’t have to spend too many pennies in the arcades.

    Have a great day everyone.

  16. Brentford v Bristol City

Hull City v Preston North End

    Bristol Rovers v Oxford United

    Charlton Athletic v Barnsley

Forest Green Rovers v Cheltenham Town

    MK Dons v Northampton

  17. So below is the full fa cup 1st round draw involving the remaining none league sides and league one and two ..!

    80 teams and 40 matches

    https://footballmanics.com/home/english-leagues/fa-cup-201819-first-round-fixtures-r3963/

Any tie your looking forward to any giant killings ?

  18. It seems that forest Green are the only team in England who are vegan with solor  wind power carbon neautral.

If you fancy a meat pie at half time I’m afraid your in for a shock because they only serve vegan food and there sales are through the roof owner Dale Vince claimed.

Also the team has been converted to vegan food as well even home some of the players are san well.

I’ve added the video below that explains it all.

  19. So Southgate lead England to the best finish for England in the World Cup in over two decades. He has an approach on bring youth through seems to be working as we beat Spain 3-2 in a blockbuster of a game.

But my question has he done enough to change your mind about him being the manager.?

  20. Is anyone watching the Apprentice?

We’ve watched it from the very first time it appeared on TV we do like it but it seems to get sillier, I often wonder if it isn’t all stage managed and a fraud, surely these so called successful business men and women can’t be that stupid.

This week they had to make and sell doughnuts the losing team decided to make one with chocolate and lashings of chilli sauce, needless to say it was inedible. I often buy a dark chocolate bar that has a hint of chilli and it goes well together but not the amount they put in. ????

  21. Good morning PoN how are we all feeling after yesterday’s result? I know @super_ram will be a happy chappy but the rest of us will be a bit down. Oh well it’s only football.

I’m glad to hear @GrannyPie is improving slowly it sounds like the consultant is on the ball and she’ll get proper treatment.

Our son flew to the New Orleans yesterday for his work and we were glad to get a message at 1.30am to say he’d landed safely, he knows we worry, we’ll be glad when he’s back home safe.

It looks like it’s going to be a good day weatherwise so we might get out and about a bit today.

Have a great day whatever you are doing.

I would be interested to see the goals, I will dig them out in a moment but this result is a shambles. The squad had plenty of time to prepare and the game should have changed going 2-0 not leaving it off.

    3. menzinho

I listened to the game yesterday and I've now caught up on the highlights (what highlights?!) and it's not good.

We were so deep they were practically walking the ball into the net, they literally did for the 2nd goal which might be the most pathetic goal we've conceded all season. Fitz has gone back to standing under his crossbar, does Crossley seriously coach him to do this?

The tactics were wrong, 4-1-4-1 away from home! We're not playing Rolls-Royce factory boys here, it was pretty much 5 attackers and one midfielder. We were so, so, so open in the midfield Bury could literally pass it out of defence and into their attackers.

After the game Harry Kewell said of the tactics it was going to be hard to pull it off, but he's supposedly all for simple football isn't he? And he said part of the plan was to allow the wide players to get crosses in? I don't get it.

I thought things were on the up, but to lose 4-0, it really knocks us right back down. I'm not looking forward to Tuesday...

    4. BigBill

      BigBill

If it worked people would be praising Kewell, I respect the fact he tried something that failed and he's held is hands up. That's only right!

      Let's not jump the gun.
