  1. Who will get the golden boot in the World Cup.? And how many goals.?

  2. Before you jump in with a reply after only reading the topics title, please do hear me out.

Every season there's far too many incoming and outgoings its hard to keep up with, yet I find it daunting to remember all the players names. I spoke to my son earlier and I told him about how I am looking forward to seeing all the new signings so far, he asked which I felt would be the best so far and I said Dennis Kristian.

Kane Hammings is easy enough to remember but god help me when others join.

  3. Think you probably all know about it by now

Looking at the responses from Chester fans, we've got ourselves a good young player

  4. Rumour has it that Terry Hawkridge is unsettled in Nottingham and at Notts County. He would like to bring up his child and family in Lincoln and Lincoln seem interested in having him back, especially after the departure of Alex Woodyard. Would we miss him and are we looking to replace him? Thoughts?

  5. I know this isn’t going to be popular in some quarters but…

Mo Salah is a tremendously gifted footballer, a talismanic figure for his club this season. He, more than anyone, was representing hopes of the fans that had travelled, and yet…

He suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder, and maybe some ligament damage in the shoulder. For goodness sake, this was a final, the biggest game he has played in, maybe ever will play in. If it’s a mid-season league game, you come off, if you’re a bog-standard right-back, you come off.

If you’re player who has scored a third of his club’s goals this season – you don’t come off. If you’re the only player on your team with the wit, vision and ability to cause the opposition any worries, you don’t come off with a suspected dislocated shoulder. You play on. It was a Final.

I’ve seen amateur goalkeepers play with broken hands, amateur RL players keep going after 3 shoulder dislocations in the same game. I’m sorry, but to go off as Salah did shows immense mental weakness. I don’t doubt it hurt, but he’s an Association Footballer. It wasn’t a leg injury (ACL, Achilles etc.) preventing him from running. I was there when Terry Darracott played on at Old Trafford with a broken leg, Stuart Pearce has done the same, but I didn’t see it live.

Let’s think of similar circumstances – talismanic players in a final or an international.

Bernd Trautmann – broken neck in FA CUP final – played on.

Franz Beckenbauer – broken arm in World Cup Semi-Final – played on.

Vincent Kompany - broken nose, a cracked eye socket- played on for his country.

Sam Burgess – broken cheekbone and cracked eye socket in first minute – played on in Grand Final.

Paul Wood – ******** torn off in a tackle - played on in Grand Final.

Bobby Baun (Toronto Maple Leafs) – broken leg – played on in a Stanley Cup Final.

Colin Cowdrey – broken arm – faced West Indian fast bowlers at Lord’s.

Alan Prescott – broken arm – played on against Australia in test match.

We remember these players and their feats of courage.

I hope Salah recovers rapidly, he’s a lovely player to watch, but he will not fulfil his potential without the mental strength to match his talent. LFC fans, ask yourselves this…

Would Tommy Smith have gone off with a suspected dislocated shoulder in a final? Would Souness? Would Billy Liddell? Would Klopp himself?

  6. Whenever we are away, which is pretty frequently in our camper van, we find the nearest Wetherspoons pub, I’ve got to say the value of their food and range and value of beer is second to non I’m my opinion.

This week we’ve been in Southport which isn’t south at all it’s oop north between Blackpool and Liverpool, as usual we went to the nearest Wetherspoons for a meal, we both were feeling righteously health concious so I had a chicken, maple cured bacon and avocado salad, while Mrs. Big Tone had a quinoa salad, both were excellent, I had a pint of Wobbly Bob 6% (before you ask @super_ram ) and Mrs Big Tone had a ginger beer, the bill for food and drinks was just over £13. Amazing value for what we got.

Next day we weren’t feeling so health concious so went to the same pub and had fish and chips for two, again it was excellent, with the same drinks it was just under £20, brilliant.

So next time you are out and about and fancy a good pint of real ale and decent pub grub, check out the local Wetherspoons, tell them Fan of Big Tone sent you, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

In contrast today we went to a cafe, we had 2 cappuccino coffees and 2 tuna melt sandwiches, the coffee was in a small paper cup, the tuna melt toasted sandwiches came on a paper plate and was dripping with fat (it looked like it had been deep fried) and there was a limp looking lettuce leaf, it tasted horrible and cost us £14.

  7. Apparently signing on a free transfer from Wigan. Ripped us apart in March against Chesterfield.

Good option to have on the left of midfield and defence.

  8. I think I will have to give social media and particularly twitter a rest it went into meltdown yesterday after Notts lost 1-0 to Accrington. Lots of posters are now calling for KN to be sacked. If you challenge them all you get is foul language and abuse. I find it best not to engage with them now and I suspect a the majority of decent fans feel the same, a minority of our “supporters” seem intent on bringing the club, owner, manager and players down at every opportunity.

I didn’t go to Accrington and I applaud those that spent their hard earned money to travel all that way and have to stand in the pouring rain but surely as a Notts supporter they have to understand that we can’t win every game, we aren’t Man City, we are a fourth tier team with players of that standard. They do have bad games they always will, it’s what we as supporters sign up for if we support Notts.

To sack Nolan now would be a ridiculous thing to do and I don’t believe Hardy will seriously consider it, Nolan has done a fantastic job this season and I think he will be here next season as well. He is new to management and has made mistakes, Hardy is also new and likewise he has made mistakes but I believe this partnership between owner and manager will get better, as fans we need to give them all the support we can along with the team.

Some people need to stop moaning and start supporting the club in good times and bad.

  9. Just been released by Orient

Could he be signing for us?

He was on trial last month at Notts and recently started following the club on Twitter

  10. And number four for the week has landed at the Lane.

Good looking forward line for this division imo. Keeps Stead as an impact sub when the game needs a new approach, but I don't expect him to start now. Which is probably for the best if we are intending on pace and zippy football to kill teams off.

  11. So after the release and retain list it would seem we have only retained one striker and one goalkeeper who would you like to see Kevin Nolan’s bring in to fill those positions.

  12. So it’s a beautiful Monday bank holiday anyone else feel we should be sat in it at Wembley or where ever watching County.?

So I have to say ..! Come on Exeter anyone else agree.?

  13. So tonight is the champions league final from Kiev (not chicken) Heavy favourites Madrid take on Liverpool My question what’s the final score gunner be and who will score them.?

  14. The great, versatile Elliott Hewitt turns 24 today!

Lucky him to have a birthday in the off season... looks like a certain Irish bar in town is expecting him and his squad all suited and booted!

  15. what the hell is going on with this transfer? the amount of money reported to have been agreed is insane. no player is worth more than 60million easy. it just sends the wring message out.

  16. So Alan Hardy has tweeted preseason fixtures are out at 330 who dose people think it will be.?

  19. So World Cup is nearly here so I’m guessing a world cup song may be on the way ..so my question is what’s everyones favourite song from years gone past. Let’s set the cringe meter off.

  20. So Alan Hardy has said via twitter there willbe one more signing tomorrow what’s people’s thougts.? And who may it be

  21. So we have a few details regarding Notts County's 2018-19 pre-season preparations from Big Al.
