From the perspective of someone, naming no names or pointing the finger but… clears throat and adjusts tie… let’s just say that there’s a certain charm in being vague and mysterious. It’s like a game of Clue, but instead of Colonel Mustard in the library with the candlestick, it’s just me here with my thoughts and a sense of intrigue. I’m curious to know what makes Notts County so special to you. In your own words, can you share with me what sets this team apart from the rest?

Notts County's recent match against Wrexham was a nail-biting affair, with both teams fighting tooth and nail for the coveted National League title. However, many fans have been left wondering whether Notts' performance was impacted by nerves, as they failed to score the victory after leading 1-0 and ultimately lost the match. With promotion to the English Football League at stake, it's natural for players to feel the weight of expectations and pressure to perform on such a big occasion. But what can fans do to help keep their team calm and composed, and what strategies should the head coach, Luke Williams, employ to ensure his players remain focused on their ultimate goal?

In this discussion, we'll explore the impact of nerves on Notts' recent performance against Wrexham, and what fans and the coaching staff can do to help alleviate this pressure. We'll also consider the wider implications of such nerves on the team's promotion hopes and strategies that can be employed to keep the players focused on the task at hand. Join us in sharing your thoughts and insights on this crucial topic as we analyse the role of mental preparation in Notts County's push for promotion.

Also, check out the gaffer's discussion about leading into the playoffs and how you believe they should be approached, such as whether certain key players need resting.

welcome to the pride of Nottingham @Dry Nelson Ray. ????????

Macaulay Langstaff's recent record-breaking season, scoring an impressive 41 goals, has catapulted him into the national spotlight and earned him the nickname "Non-League Haaland". However, with such success comes speculation about his future at Notts County. Will he be the key to unlocking the Magpies' potential and help take the club to the next level, or will his record attract the attention of other clubs and make it harder for Luke Williams to retain him?

In this discussion, we'll explore the potential impact of Langstaff's success on Notts County and what the future may hold for this talented striker.

Hello PON members! I'm curious to know, do you have any friends on this site? Were you friends before joining PON or did you become friends because of it? Do you have mates that go to the matches with you?

I have a brother back in the UK who doesn't like football. My parents used to attend games every week when they were alive. It used to be a family thing with aunts and cousins, uncles and nephews meeting up. I only know a few fans that still attend on occasions.

It would be interesting to see members share their experiences.

Hello and welcome to our last midweek round of the season! These all kick off at 7.45pm, give it your best shot and remember your jokers!

Sunderland v Huddersfield Town

Burton Albion v Bolton Wanderers

Exeter City v Derby County

Carlisle United v Stockport County

Crawley Town v Colchester United

Grimsby Town v Barrow

Altrincham v Dagenham & Redbridge

Halifax Town v Bromley

With the remaining three fixtures, how would you approach them if you were Luke Williams? Would you consider resting some of the key players? For example, Ruben Rodrigues, Adam Chicksen, and Sam Slocombe? Perhaps allow some of the fringe players to get some game time whilst they rested for the playoffs.

If not, do you feel it's important to continue playing the same squad for consistency purposes? Keep the form going, allow the players to see out their form and hope that they're ready for the next stage of our season. Do you feel the title is still up for grabs? It is possible, although unlikely, that Wrexham may slip. So how do we proceed from this point in your opinion?

Game 44 - The Cardinals (H)

Team: Woking

What line-up should Luke Williams opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

  • The beginning of the game was somewhat back and forth, although Woking experienced difficulty retaining possession or making it towards the goal. Notts had a few promising attacks but nothing substantial. In my opinion, Sam Austin had the most favourable opportunity in the first half as the ball came down in an awkward manner, but he was still able to control it.

During the second half, Woking was bound to decrease the speed of the game, which is when the chance arose. It wasn't necessarily due to Adam Chicksen and Jodi Jones swapping positions, but rather the pace increased, and the players sensed that a goal was imminent. Before the first goal, there were two or three decent opportunities.

Compared to the standards of this year, the first half was quite dreadful and, at times, downright awful. However, when considering all the dreadful squads that Notts has had over the years, it wasn't that terrible. If Woking had scored, we might have had grounds for complaints, but the game was rather evenly matched. It's challenging to find fault with a 3-0 home victory, a clean sheet, and a satisfactory overall performance.

It sounds like the Wrexham defeat played heavily on the players' minds and caused a bit of a setback in play. Usually, I think a goalless first half isn't anything to be disheartened by. You have two teams in close contention with each other, one of which is desperately trying to secure third place. It sounds as if the win became a lot easier after the first goal went in. It sounds like a good win to me!

I always get emotional on the anniversary of Hillsborough. I was 12 and I remember it like it was yesterday. Scenes like that were too much to process for a 12 year old. 97 victims. Countless lives destroyed. Grown men and women who still can't talk about or deal with what they witnessed that day. Today I would like to remember Tony Bland, Andy Devine, Sarah Hicks and Louise Hicks. Tony clung to life for 4 years before passing away in 1993. Andy survived against all the odds and died at the age of 55. The 97th victim. Sarah and Louise were sisters. 19 & 15. A life time of potential gone in a few tragic moments.

I'm in Liverpool in June and the memorial will be my first stop. It will be emotional but it's something I need to do.

this one is going to be difficult, but for once it will be for all the right reasons. you don't have to name who you voted for, if you do great! even better if you feel open enough to explain why, but its not needed.

I'm not sure if I have too much free time on my hands, but I recently relocated from a Sheffield-based publishing company to work for a content creation company in Manchester. My move will make it easier for me to attend games, as I previously had an apartment in Leeds when I was studying at university.

During yesterday's game, I couldn't help but notice that there weren't enough chants for the players. I found myself reflecting on the discussion I initiated about reducing the pressure going into the playoffs.

I've come up with three chants, but I'm not sure if they're great ideas or if they'll catch on. Nevertheless, I'm interested to see if they'll be sung, and I hope no one will steal credit for them. Ha ha.

To the tune of "When the Saints Go Marching In":

Oh Cadwyn Scott, he wears the black and white,
Number 19, with pace and might,
Scored some goals, he's quite a sight,
Oh Cadwyn Scott, he's dynamite!

From left to right, he'll run all night,
Defenders shake with fright,
He'll score a goal with all his might,
Oh Cadwyn Scott, what a sight!

Notts County's number 19,
He's in his prime, a goal-scoring machine,
With his skill and football mind,
Oh Cadwyn Scott, you're one of a kind!

To the tune of "La Bamba":

Roberto Chicksen, he's our left-back star,
Runs down the wing, he's faster than a car,
With his left foot, he hits it hard,
Roberto Chicksen, our superstar!

He's got the skills, he's got the pace,
He's always first to win the race,
When he takes a free-kick, watch it soar,
Roberto Chicksen, we want more!

In the black and white, he's a sight to see,
Defenders quake, when he's running free,
He's got the moves, he's got the flair,
Roberto Chicksen, we'll always be there!

So come on County, give us a show,
With Roberto Chicksen, we'll never say no,
From the back to the front, he'll take us far,
Roberto Chicksen, our superstar!

To the tune of "Guantanamera":

Luke Williams, he's the man in charge,
Leading Notts County, oh so large,
With his tactics, he'll take us far,
Luke Williams, our shining star!

He knows the game, he knows it well,
With his team, he'll always excel,
We'll sing his name, with pride we tell,
Luke Williams, he'll lead us well!

From the dugout, he'll guide our play,
To victory, he'll show the way,
With his passion, he'll light the flame,
Luke Williams, he's why we came!

So let's cheer on, with all our might,
For Notts County, we'll fight and fight,
With Luke Williams, we'll reach new heights,
Notts County, we're black and white!

Squeaky bum time has most definitely arrived, so don't miss this chance to collect a few points! Send in your predictions by 3pm on Saturday, and don't forget your jokers!

In June, all the following players will be out of contract. It is a key point in the season right now, so which of the players do you want to see be renewed? What length would you offer and why, if any, would you allow them to run out?

Sam Slocombe
Kyle Cameron
Connell Rawlinson
Adam Chicksen
Jim O'Brien
Frank Vincent
Aaron Nemane
Ruben Rodrigues

I observed this image that was shared on the Pride of Nottingham Facebook page by a Notts fan. Even though the result cannot be altered, the picture communicates a lot and can be a topic of discussion. Do you believe that if the penalty was taken again? Could have made a difference in the long term? Alternatively, do you think that a tie was still inadequate?

Image shared by Luke James on Facebook.

Luke's comment: "The linesman is meant to stand and look along the line. Maybe he forgot what his job was?"

My personal view is that the referee made a good decision by awarding the penalty. However, Wrexham fans believe they should have had two penalties themselves. Firstly, there was the slightest touch by Kyle Cameron on Paul Mullin, and then Sam Slocombe's supposed trip where again Paul Mullin ran into him clearly outside the box but decided to throw himself to the ground in our penalty box.

However, judging by this picture, the referee failed to notice that Ben Foster was off his line. The assistant official should have been watching Foster more closely. In the World Cup and Premier League, penalties with off-the-line keepers are often retaken, with keepers sometimes being issued a yellow card.

The outcome of the Wrexham game cannot be changed, but it is disappointing that we will never know if a draw could have affected the title race or if Notts could have gone on to score a fourth. My final point is that officials need to ensure that keepers stay on the line. FIFA is introducing stricter rules where keepers cannot jump up or distract the penalty taker, etc. It should be something the National League strives to improve on.

The sudden passing of Notts County's chief executive, Jason Turner, at the age of 50, has had a significant impact on the club. Turner had been in the role since March 2016 and had devoted himself to the club. He was described as an outstanding CEO who was respected across football.

What kind of legacy has Jason Turner left behind at Notts County? Turner, who had been the club's chief executive since March 2016, dedicated himself to Notts County. His unexpected death has undoubtedly affected the club greatly. It is worth exploring the impact he had on the club during his tenure. What kind of changes did he bring to the club, and how did he leave his mark? Did he set the club on a path to success, or was his legacy more about the culture and values he instilled in the club? How will Notts County continue to honour his memory and his contributions to the club moving forward?

Below is the memorial post, for comments and rest in peace messages.

I am absolutely thrilled to hear that Luke Williams and Macaulay Langstaff have scooped the Vanarama National League monthly awards for March.

Williams has been a fantastic manager for Notts County, leading the team to victory time and time again. His tactical brilliance and ability to motivate the players have been key to our success.

Langstaff, on the other hand, has been an absolute powerhouse on the pitch. His incredible skill and ability to score goals have made him a fan favourite. It’s no surprise that he has won awards for his performances; he truly deserves it.

I am so proud of both Williams and Langstaff for their achievements. They have worked hard, and it’s great to see them being recognised for their efforts. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Notts County with these two at the helm.

What do you think about Williams and Langstaff winning these awards? Do you think they deserved it? How do you think this will impact Notts County’s performance in the upcoming game this weekend against Woking?
