Is it just me or does anyone else get fed up with seeing so call β€œbargains” advertised for Black Friday which incidentally started last week with β€œPre Black Friday Deal” this week is β€œBlack Friday WEEK”! no doubt next week we’ll see Black Friday week extended with fabulous β€œPost Black Friday” deals.

What a load of b*ll#*ks.

Isn't this another American idea import ?

Yes it is @super_ramΒ this is from Wikipedia:

    Quote

Black FridayΒ is the Friday afterΒ Thanksgiving in the United States. It traditionally marks the start of theΒ ChristmasΒ shopping season in the United States. Many stores offer highly promoted sales at discounted prices and often open early, sometimes as early as midnight[2]or even on Thanksgiving. Some stores' sales continue to Monday ("Cyber Monday") or for a week ("Cyber Week").

Black Friday has been the busiest shopping day of the year in the United States.[3][4][5]

Have you got your Thanksgiving Turkey in yet? ????

I find stores to be too stressful. If it wasn't for an appointment the other week I wouldn't have gone into B&M and The Range after.

Amazon is useful for picking up bargains.

You can use a site called Camel, Camel, camel to check if deals are good or fluff.Β Β https://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/

Although, Amazon is well known for playing around with their prices and, giving sales/30% off. If you can take it right, it can be useful, but I really don't pay much attention to any of the sales throughout the year. If I want something, I will compare prices and wait for when the best time is to buy it.

39 years have swished by

i have never been, today will be my first time but with their troubles and the rise of mk dons. afc wimbledon is one team i have wanted to visit and support. if i get chance to go in their club shop before kick off, i will pick up some things to give them some support. they seem a genuine club.

Some time ago, I watched a fan made documentary about Wimbledon's rise up to their collapse and reform.

One of the clips they showed was of Notts playing them, where the challenges flown in and became quite wild. I know the late 80s and 90s Wimbledon were known for being dirty, but I found it interesting to learn about how they rose through the leagues and became football's biggest underdogs.Β

The information shared above is extremely valuable and provides important insights.

  • Watching Jack Grealish was a delight, his confidence and skill even back then were beyond his years. There’s not a Notts fan who wouldn’t be pleased to have seen him play for Notts, and it’s wonderful to see him regularly expressing his affection for our club.

@super_ramΒ he would get kicked and fouled a lot, he would just get back up, smile and then do something no other player on the pitch could have done. his quality even at that stage was something we did not quite use to our advantage. yet i think he kept us within a fight staying in league one. good memories of seeing jack grealish play for notts.

I swear we have seen this posted before, no issues if so - I just feel like dΓ©jΓ  vu here.

Jack Grealish was an incredible talent, very honoured to have seen him play for Notts. He and Callum McGregor became the best of friends during their time here together. McGregor always said Grealish would go on to boss the Premier League.

I've included a loan player, can't really leave Grealish out! And I'll go for a 3-4-3 formation as I'll have Luke Williams as the gaffer!

While I’m only vaguely familiar with the name, it seems that clubs are increasingly appointing managers who, in previous seasons, wouldn’t have been considered for first team positions. This strategy could either yield success or result in disappointment. Being a good coach doesn’t necessarily equate to being a good manager. However, it’s heartening to see someone from Nottingham being given the opportunity to prove their mettle.

I saw that on the highlights, National League North defending at its finest!Β

In the early 70's an opposition defender, on the left side of the Baseball Ground pitch and facing away away from his goal, sliced a clearance that ballooned into the air and forced his own goalkeeper to desperately scramble back to stop the ball going into his ownΒ  net.The name of that defender was Robert Moore.Yes,the same Bobby Moore who captained England in the 1966 Word Cup finals.I saw him play quite a few times and his poise and unflappability stood out.So it just shows thatΒ  these laughable episodes can and do happen to the best.

    Two things....

What was the keeper jumping about like that? Is he in fact a wet fish? That's some iffy keeping, yes, the angle of the footage might not do him any justice, but it is rather weird how he jumps and positions himself.

Sliced kicks are very common; it looks like the ball might be slightly wet - I don't know if it had been raining, but that could make it difficult to make instant content. A more experienced player may have just tried to bring the ball down and shield it. My second point, the keeper in my eyes should also be sent off or at least give a yellow card. The lunge he made was wreckless and uncalled-for, his boots could have seriously injured the attacking player. It was also two footed, made without control and well beyond the ball having crossed the line.

I remember when we were playing Darlington in the League for many years

There is a spectacular own goal in this match.

Soon, she'll have white hair, resembling the manager of the England ladies, or perhaps even worse... Bald from the stress of the game.

I really hope this proves to be a decision on merit, rather than a gimmick for the media headlines.

Either way, I genuinely wish her well and hope it shows that the sport is restricted by sex, gender or religious beliefs but the ability to do the job.

this is great news, but i hope those feminine nutters in the womens game see this as a move for equal rights and stop complaining about the amount of male managers, coaches etc.

god forbid a male pundit covers a womens game, perfectly fine to have clueless pretenders doing it for the mens. ????

best of luck to marie-louse eta. i think its great for the game.

  • Yeah, shooting himself is rather quite stupid but it's actually quite sad he's not had a purposeful career to get into after his football one didn't take off. It's hard for young players, especially when they get rejected, I know from having a friend who was in an academy as a 17/18 year old you dedicate your time and effort into getting a pro-deal and even when you get one that's just the start, it's still incredibly tough to make it. Life after football is not something you want to think about but realistically you do need a fall back plan.

Anyway I'm just glad he wasn't able to cause any serious harm to some innocent person with the shotgun.Β

Ah, Romello Nangle - what a character! I remember him from his time at Notts. He was always a bit of a wild card, but he had a lot of heart and gave his all on the pitch. Shame things didn't work out for him in the end, and it's a shame he's resorted to crime.

He seemed a nice lad, when I used to pictures for Notts - he always seemed happy and polite. I had heard there was a reputation, with his background but I always hoped he would come good. Was it Iceland where Notts toured and he scored that wonder goal?

His troubles now may very well come from who he's around and the pressure of succeeding in football.

Even the money he was on back then would have been nice for a young lad, when you earn a decent wage and lose it, it's hard for some to accept it. I wouldn't be surprised if that's why he fell into selling drugs. I feel for him, it's daft and wrong but it shows how people can dip into bad areas.

good post match interview, i think the standard of questions and of course the way luke williams handles himself makes them a must watch/listen. i never turn the radio off as a drive after full time, i also love stall's take on notts.

I'm slightly early, but here's Saturday's round. All matches kick off at 3pm, and remember your jokers!

its a very sad story and i wish him all the best with forging his career further. i hope he uses his pain for better, instead of allowing it to control his own narrative. it must be awful though.

  • Having moved from the KOP to the Pavis Stand a few seasons ago, I can see that there’s room for improvement in the latter. However, it’s reassuring to know that the club is cognisant of the areas that need attention. With the additional revenue, it’s crucial that we make smart investments off the pitch to facilitate progress on it. After all, a club’s success isn’t just about what happens during the 90 minutes, it’s also about the decisions made behind the scenes.

The bar looks brilliant, there’s a real trend with turning containers into homes and other useful things. I’ve heard that the Navi has a container where their car park used to be, right near the main gates. This should compete with that, hopefully the owners start to secure land around the ground. It’s always handy to plan ahead, plenty of projects like this could bring in revenue, much like the peddling centre.

The new bar is a clever idea, it should increase profits while making it easier to get served. Fans will make the short journey, even in the cold, just to get a pint, so it’s a win-win situation.

  • I really struggle with Wrexham and their owners.Β  Why do they have to be so nice?Β  We had a great chat with a load of their fans as we walked back to the car after the game at Meadow Lane and they were really good, grounded people.Β  I think that they have 2 types of fan; the new fans who are there for the glory and are more obnoxious, and the old fans, who like us are so happy to be back in the EFL and are really very pleasant.Β  Their owners also seem to be good types too and not like your typical rich owner.Β  I may have to lift my ban on Deadpool!Β

I would prefer owners who are clever, courteous, and also passionate about other clubs any day of the week over those who treat their fans and clubs poorly. Good owners are hard to come by, so best of luck to Wrexham.

Who’s watching to see how Jodi performs? I hope he doesn’t get injured. ????Β

  • Malta demonstrated decent form at times, but their control and first touch were lacking. England commenced the game on shaky ground and appeared significantly worse at times. There was no need for unnecessary ball play, but credit to Malta for making a contest of it. The final score doesn’t accurately represent the match, and I don’t believe Declan Rice’s goal should have been disallowed. Harry Kane was also fouled for a penalty. The referees were the most disappointing aspect of the game.

i thought england were quite poor at times they looked like did not want to go forward early on, which deserves credit to malta. i think they back off pressing england which gave them more confidence to attack and at this stage england just grew in confidence. malta had a troubled time defending but i think they should be happy overall, i do think jodi jones should have started because he would have gave them some real quality going forward.

England could have certainly performed better. I believe Harry Kane was left alone for much of the early game, which seemed to benefit Malta more than us. We started to improve once he received support. However, I’m not concerned about the performance or the fact that England only scored twice. The task was completed and that’s all that matters.

Next up Notts travel to AFC Wimbledon, how many links between the two clubs can we find?

The obvious one that springs to mind for me is Neil Ardley who managed both clubs.

  • Lewis Macari appears to be a promising talent, but rushing to sign him after only a few appearances seems hasty. I’m not suggesting we shouldn’t consider it, as that would be equally short-sighted. It would be prudent to observe his performance over time. Statistics can be manipulated to fit a narrative, and they only tell half the story of what makes the current Notts team successful.

I think we should sign him. If the club can agree on terms that suit both parties, he would be a great addition. I wouldn’t worry about his current game time, as he will naturally improve. He shows a lot of potential. The most important thing for me is his age; he can develop further into the player we need. Having a good set of defenders around him will aid his development. However, I would still welcome an experienced player in January.

He appears to be a player who’s made the most of his playing time, I’d like to see him more in the league. It seems that Richard Brindley and Connell Rawlinson are ahead of him, but that said, I believe young talent is worth investing in. Now that fans have seen what Lewis Macari can do, I reckon he’d be a great addition to the squad and a future star who should settle in nicely within a season or two.
