Round six:

Clue -Β This lethal finisher began his career with a Midlands club and rapidly made a name for himself as a formidable goalscorer. He’s not the β€œRay Trew” prolific type, but rather a true master of finding the back of the net.

Good luck!

I suspect that this is Frank Vincent, with his recent release.

Yes, he has retired. He had a very successful career, though not without its lows. His presence would divide opinions until you saw him play. Most of the clubs he had stints with would call him a lege

@CliftonMagpie, you’ve provided so much detail that my brain is doing the cha-cha! @super_ram, I am loving it. If you could see me right now, you’d wonder why my tash is doing the tango. ????

No, it’s not Lee Hughes. Unfortunately, that is correct. Chris is also correct in saying that I wouldn’t use a player again so soon. Although it may be mischievous, it could be a good idea.

No, he didn't begin his career at Wolverhampton. However, after leaving Notts, he did play for another club in Birmingham. His footballing CV is quite impressive and he was quite stylish in his day, resembling a popstar. He started his career with Notts.

Yes, you’re right. The answer is Tony Hateley in honour of your return. I shouldn’t have mentioned that he played for a different Birmingham-based club. ????

Sorry about that! Earlier, I thought I had sent this message but it appears it was left unsent on my screen. Now it’s finally here. I’ll wait for a few questions before revealing anything in great detail. I’m aiming for 3 to 4 rounds of accurate guesses!

Round 8:
Clue:Β He came from London, but he wandered far and wide. He played in many places, but he never stayed for long. Who is he?Β

Hello @Fan of Big Tone, the objective of this game is to discover the identity of a former Notts player or manager. Indeed, this individual did play for Notts.Β

Ah sorry @CliftonMagpieΒ being late to the party I hadn’t realised I thought it was any player. Right that narrows it down, I’ll get my thinking cap on.

Don’t worry, this time I’ve been much more careful, but there’s still enough information for some guesses to be made. Once I receive two guesses or any questions, I’ll follow up.

Good guess @upthepieswhich has made me think of another current player, John Bostock. Born in Camberwell, played across Europe and also Toronto. Plus he never stays at a club for that long (well, not since his Spurs days).

It’s not Frank Vincent or John Bostock, although both are excellent guesses based on the limited information provided in the first clue.

The second clue: He is now a manager. The first four teams he played for have a very interesting pattern that was only broken after he signed from one London club to another.
