Due out this Christmas a 70 minute full length Feature Film starring everybody's Favourite Clay Motion Stars return along with an Evil Villain from a past Adventure. After 31 years in the Clink, like Arnie in Terminator He's Back, Feathers McGraw in Wallace & Gromit Vengeance Most Fowl.

My only Concern is it'sย  on the B.B.Cย  I just hope they don't force Nic Park to Include Modern Day Messaging.

  • Good way to finish pre-season, I'm guessing it'll be similar to Cambridge a few seasons ago where I believe we did the same thing and fielded two separate teams for each game. It makes sense to give the whole squad 90 mins the weekend before the season kicks off, that way everyone (injuries aside) will be ready, fit and in contention to play the first league game.

There's room for one more match between the Wealdstone and York game (currently 11 days between the two). I guess that'll be the last game to be announced, maybe Forest or Derby?

They'll give us a good test, provided they field a strong team. It's a good fixture. I wasn't aware that we weren't hosting any home games - this must have been mentioned at the fans' forum. I read the article about the opening announced fixtures and that stated home games would be announced in due time, I'm not overly bothered that we won't return to Meadow Lane before the season actually starts.

I hope to at least make the Saturday friendlies and the Alfreton game.

i am not so bothered, i will attend what i can but some of the tuesday night games might be tight due to work. im more excited about getting the season underway. peterborough will be a nice fixture tho.

They tend to put the phone down when I tell them I am handy with a computer, not that tracing them would be all that difficult with the right equipment and a little knowledge. You should also listen to how @super_ramย deals with them.

My youngest daughter, Ava @CutiePieย - she likes watching scam baiters on YouTube.

    ????????????????????????????

i find it funny when you put two scammers on the phone to each other. you would have thought there would be more effort to closing these scam centres and not left to normal people to be making the only difference. they are scummy.

With the signing of New Players the Opening of the Nest, the construction of a New Pitch things are in Full Flow down the Lane, in readiness for the Start of the New Season. With all this Going On it seems the Notts Head Coach has sort ofย  Faded into the Background. Yes he's spoken about New Players and the appointment of Macca as the Magpies New Captain. But what about the Man himself, nobody has sat down with him and asked what kind of pressure he's feeling going into the New Season after all his current Results Record is Very Poor. How difficult as it been adjusting to becoming a Full Time Coach and how hard was it stepping into Luke Williams shoes, after what he achieved at Meadow Lane?

How does he feel about some Fans wanting the Owners to get Rid of Him? Does he think he would have Benefitted from having a Experienced Director of Footballย  with Footballing Knowledge helping him to learn how to better Man Mange Players.? He is Still on a Massive Learning Curve and if the Magpies don't get off to a Decent Start as the Season Opens and Pressure Mounts. Can Stuart Maynard Cope ?

  • Stuart Maynard has been coaching (albeit not full-time) since 2012, so heโ€™s hardly a novice and more experienced than a lot of people think. Heโ€™ll have experienced the bad times and good ones as heโ€™s been involved in very successful times at Hemel and Wealdstone. I know this is the highest level heโ€™s coached at but keeping Wealdstone a part-time team in a full-time league with probably one of the lowest budgets for two seasons is very impressive. Heโ€™s now also had half a season to experience this league and he's said a lot of encouraging things in his interviews about whatโ€™s been missing from this squad and what we need to improve.

I think we have to trust the owners and board too, I donโ€™t think they wouldโ€™ve appointed him if they had any doubts. And so far they've had a very good record when it comes to head-coaches. When was the last time we had our last two head-coaches poached? I think a lot of fans are still used to the long and old regime of sacking a manager every 3/6/9 months because you lose a few games. That wonโ€™t happen now. SM will be given time and help to achieve the clubs goal of continued progression.

I agree with this, thank goodness we now have owners who can provide stability and give the coach time to get things right, it depresses me when I see that after Notts lose a game immediately the knives come out and people start baying for blood. Our owners will not be swayed by fan opinion and they will do things their way, I trust them to hire and fire when they see fit.

Its a clean sheet this season and fans should get behind the team, the management staff and the owners and letโ€™s see where it takes us.

    @Fan of Big Tone

I'm afraid that's how Football is nowadays. Results are the only thing that matter and Coaches who don't deliver straight away will soon find themselves out of a job. You only have to look at Stuart Maynard's successor at Wealdstone.ย  I'm not sure about the Owners Not Being Swayed by Fans. If results don't go the Magpies way and there is suddenly a Drop from 11,000 to 5or 6,000 fans at Home Games I don't see Stuart Maynard lasting very long. As long as Coach is winning all well and Good but otherwise....

I'm sure a Vast Majority of Notts Fans will be behind SM and the team. So here's to a Good Season, a top half finish and a Run at the Playoffs.

Another addition to our defence tonight. Notts are building a side that can challenge for promotion next season.

Our defence clearly needed strengthening and now we have two players that will make Notts much tougher in defenceย

  • Kasper would be a Dream Come True @Robbieย and realistically I think it would take some sort of Miracleย  Getting Back Him Back Down The Lane. As you have stated a Keeper of plenty of Experience is needed to pass on Tips and help develop young Keepers such as Tiernan Brookes. That's No Disrespect to the Notts Goalkeeping Coach Steve Collis but an Experienced Keeper playing matches on a regular basis will know all about Pressures and how to cope with them while beingย  involved in playing a League 2 Match.

I'm not disagreeing with either of you here @Robbieย & @Wheelbarrow repair manย butย isn't the experienced and older goalkeeper Slocombe though? He's 36 and has played nearly 400 games! Surely we don't need another keeper coming in at the end of his career. I'd hope we'd be looking for a keeper in his prime that can potentially be our keeper for a good number of years.

@menzinhoย I get what you are saying and Slocombe does have the experienced but you can never say that he looks solid between the sticks & he's not comfortable on the ball.

Someone in their late 20s or early 30s who is a GOOD all round goalkeeper, who is comfortable playing as aย  goalkeeper sweeper and can distribute the ball. That's what Notts need.

The Club has high hopes for Brooks and he may be ready to take the reins in another 12 months.

I think it's worth the cost to pay for aย  type of goalkeeper how I've described, because it is such an important position nowadays.

    ย

It appears to be a regrettable choice, but there are superior alternatives available. Iโ€™m simply glad that we supported him through his injury, as it demonstrates our class. Unfortunately, too many teams discard a player when they suffer a serious injury.

  • @Piethagoram

No according to records Dean Yates suffered a serious knee injury in February 1992 which ruled him out for two years however he did manage one appearance in 1993/94 season. He was fully fit for 1994/95 season andย  playing in the Notts Team in their fight against Relegation he was Sold to Derby for ยฃ350,000 before Notts were Relegated.

@Wheelbarrow repair manย I agree with you. At the end of the day Notts supported him and helped him through his long term injury, so Notts did all they could.ย

He could have stayed with Notts and fought for a place, especially considering what Notts did for him, but if he wants to move on so good look to him.

Notts will find a good replacement, I'm sure of that, who will be new and full of commitment to Notts.

    @menzinho

Michael O'Connorย  ruptured an ACL in 2016, During his recovery from his injury he was given a Scouting position by Kevin Nolan. He played for Notts in their last six games of 2017/18, helping Notts gain a Play Off Place.

So both Yates and O'Connor played for the Magpies after their injuries unlike Bajrami.

Can we all welcome our new member @ShannockPie to PoN!

A warm PoN welcome to @Michelle Evans I hope you enjoy it here we are a friendly bunch.

  • If a bid for Notts failed, whilst Alan Hardy stood over us, and it was linked to such a player asย Gerard Piquรฉ. I am more inclined to believe it's not true. I know there was that hedge fund which he could have been involved with, but my memory recalls it being led by someone untrustworthy - who didn't have any resources at all.

I don't believe the Taylor Swift story, that seems to have fallen due to social media tweets when I looked into it at the time.

As to where this story came from, it might be true that he wanted to look at buying an English club but anything serious, beyond interest, just seems unlikely to me.

This seems like a tale to me, akin to an April Foolโ€™s joke that has been picked up by the mainstream media and run with, either unknowingly or intentionally. Iโ€™m sceptical that he would purchase a club that has just been relegated to the National League, when there might have been simpler options in League Two. I simply donโ€™t believe it, and apparently, neither did he. ????

Here We Go. A Nice Simple Questionย  for all you Magpie Fans.

Would You Like To See Notts County F.C. In the Premier League?

  • Show previous comments  13 more
  • I think the fact that the Notts Owners are described as a consortium bodes well for the future.

The Reedtz brothers could look to have more significant investors in the Club as Notts rise up the League structure.

On a much more bigger scale of course, we saw what happened at Man U recently with a large minority stake in the Club being bought.

I hope that long-standing fans will make it abundantly clear to those at Notts that we are a family club. The Danish brothers might propel us to the Premier League, and I donโ€™t think they would alter much. However, my greatest worry is seeing the club succumb to a scheme similar to Muntoโ€™s, but with real money. This could lead to the purchase of artificial fans and the loss of our current identity, which we take great pride in.

It would be fantastic to see Notts County in the Premier League. I agree with the sentiment that players should be role models, and I hope this wouldnโ€™t change. The higher the standard of play we can enjoy, the happier we will be. However, this must be achieved while upholding our principles.

    @allardyces tash

100% Agree with You. Notts Must Remain a Family oriented Club.ย  As most current Premier League Clubs don't have the type of Bond the Magpies have with their Fans. It Seems the Top Clubs just want your money. They Don't Care Just As Long As You Pay Your Cash.

But with all this Talk of a Consortium with loads of Money, they certainly seem to do things on the Cheap. Both new signings came to Notts on a Free Transfer.

Which is No Bad Thing as the Pennies are being watched,ย  after the Financial Problems Notts have had in the Past. Dark Days which Fans will Not Wantย  to See Again.

ย

His 2023-24 stats

PLD 43

Accurate passes - 1,019/1,474 (69.1%)

Accurate long balls - 98ย

Tackles won - 47ย

Clearances - 196

Headed clearances - 104

Recoveries - 189ย

Ground duels won - 94/155 (60.7%)

Aerial duels won - 132/236 (55.9%)

Right then, here we go. The most important position in Notts' summer recruitment. Baldwin and Brindley have been released and Rawlinson has been transfer listed. That leaves us with Cameron and Macari. One left footer and one right footer.ย

In my opinion we need 3 right footers and 2 left footers. The recruitment has to be spot on in this position. They need to be able to defend their box, but also be comfortable to play our style. They have to have the required strength, height and athleticism. We also require more leaders. With that in mind, here is the list.

Centre-Backs Notts transfer window PON.PNG

Notts have been rumoured with Riley Harbottle and it would make sense as he has played under Stuart Maynard at Wealdstone. For me, Will Wright is perfect for us. He can play anywhere across the back 3, he has the height and the ability to play out from the back. He has been a regular for Crawley this season and whilst he has an option for a further year in Sussex, he could be tempted to a move to a team with a higher ceiling. Lucas Ness has some impressive stats, despite not playing a large amount of games at Charlton. He isn't first choice there either, so it would be a decent signing. Tom Bradbury has the height (6'3), the leadership and pace (shown by his goal-line clearance against Burton). Definitely good competition for Cameron.ย

I've said that Notts need to look into Ireland and whilst we looked at Conor Keeley, a move never materialised. His CB partner at St Pats, Joe Redmond, would be a great signing. Once again, he's comfortable with the ball at his feet and playing out from the back (76.3% accurate passes) and is good in the air as well, with 67.8% of his aerial duels won. He would bring leadership as well, being St Pats' captain and a former captain of Birmingham's youth team. With St Pats only sitting in 6th place, it would be a good time to move. Nando Pijnaker is a colossus in the air and whilst not blessed with pace, he can play a pass. Sligo are 8th in Ireland and it could be a shrewd bit of business to sign the New Zealand international.

Cameron McJannet and Gavin Molloy are two more left footed centre-backs from Derry and Shelbourne respectively. Molloy maybe difficult to prize away, as Shelbourne currently sit top of the league and he is ever present in Damien Duff's side. McJannet is formerly of Stoke City and has been ever present for Derry in the last few seasons, which has seen The Candystripes be Shamrock's closest challengers. Ruadhiri Higgins is someone who the Reedtz bros wanted as head coach, after Ian Burchnall left, meaning his Derry side will have played a similar possesion based game to Notts. McJannet has been a part of that and despite only being 5'11, can win his fair share of headers too.

I will add Farrend Rawson's stats, according to my metrics, in the replies.

So, played 19, won 5, drew 3, lost 11, gf29, ga34. Not great. It's fair to say we've all got our opinion of Stuart's first few months at the Lane, some more warm and some cold.ย

By all means, the results haven't been good enough and neither have quite a few of the performances. However, there is a few things to take encouragement, especially our form from MK onwards and bits said at the fans forum. Overall though, things must pick up if we are to challenge for automatic promotion. Scott Lindsey's record after the season he kept Crawley up was: won 6, drew 6, lost 10, gf22, ga32. Then look at them after he had a summer to recruit and look where they are now.ย

To be honest, I've spent the whole month of May evaluating whether Maynard can take us forward. I needed to just forget about the comments on social media in the last few months and pick it apart myself.

He walked into a difficult phase. He took over from a beloved figure at the club, who gave us the season of a lifetime.ย However, the team had been conceding goals for fun for many months. Sutton (5), Colchester (5), Mansfield (4), Wimbledon (4), Harrogate (3), Tranmere (4), Grimsby (5). Even the games we didn't concede 3 or more in were still silly.ย

Donny away. O'Brien, not clearing it in added time, leads to us losing our clean sheet. The 2nd goal against Wrexham (H), both goals against Bradford (H), both goals against Walsall (H). Simple things in the build up or at crucial moments. Even the FGR home game when we won to go top, we were poor, showing the owners were correct at the fans forum about us not performing at a good enough level to challenge for promotion, over the whole season.ย

The biggest concern for me, when he was appointed, was the step up. You're coming from a side who were punching above their weight and finishing mid table and flirting with the play-offs on occasions, to a side wanting to challenge for promotion in League 2. It's a big leap.ย

In his time at Wealdstone, he helped develop players and improve their game. This includes: George Wickens, Sam Howes, Jed Ward, Harry Isted, Riley Harbottle, Charlie Barker, Miguel Freckleton, Deji Elerewe, Jacob Mendy, Aaron Henry, Ashley Charles, Rhys Browne, Sean Adarkwa, Tahvon Campbell and Josh Umerah. You don't improve players' ability if you're not a good coach. Harbottle is now in the SPL, Howes in League 1, Ward is Bristol Rovers' number 1, Mendy and Isted are both in league 1. Rhys Browne got a move to Woking off of the back of his impressive form.

The signing of Matty Platt offers real encouragement to me. The fact we can take an out of contract player and convince him we are a better place to play football than Bradford shows we have the pull and that Stuart can attract them players, despite only previously managing in non league.

The fact he's not just coached that Wealdstone team to play and finish above where people expect them, but also getting the best out of them whilst being semi-pro and having limited time in training and in video analysis sessions, shows there must be a good motivator in there. A good man manager. This was also mentioned in Tom Williams' interview with Matty Saunders.ย

Don't get me wrong, he's got and said things wrong as you'd expect. His subs haven't been great in some games (not helped by poor squad depth due to recruitment) and his post or pre match comments haven't been what I've been seeing on the pitch. I'd just like to see him go into depth a bit more and say when things are poor. I know he wants to protect the players but when we haven't played well (Crewe, Salford, FGR, Gillingham) then say it how it is.ย

However, he's right about us not being countered on as much, how we need more structure, how the problems were here before he came in and that we haven't got the required height or physicality to compete.

There is a good head coach in there and I just hope he can succeed. Whether some of us feel good going into next season with him in charge or not, we all want him to succeed because that's what we want for Notts.

  • @Wheelbarrow repair manย

I agree that the pre season and the first half dozen matches will be vital for Stuart to show that he is the man to to take Notts forwardย

He will have several new players at his disposal, players that he would have had lots of input in choosing.

There will be no more excuses. The Notts team will be his team playing how he wants them to play, by his shape & tactics.

He has the support of the Notts owners & hopefully he will be confident enough now to shine in his roleย

If Notts make a good start things will be fine, but if not, after six to 10 games the owners may be looking elsewhere.

Football can be brutal for Managers and Coaches.

I thought when Stuart Maynard first came in, even though we didnโ€™t really turn the form around, I was actually quite encouraged in some of the games (even if we lost). At Mansfield and Wrexham, both tough away games I thought we actually deserved something from those games and played pretty well. I agree he shouldnโ€™t shoulder too much blame for the defence, he tried a couple of different things and I thought we looked more solid but the continuous individual errors and inability to defend our own box was our downfall and that is more down to the players.

Iโ€™ve probably been just as critical of our attacking play at times because I thought weโ€™d been way to slow, predictable and not been brave enough to try more through-balls/crosses. I thought we were a lot more threatening with Jatta on the pitch because we actually crossed the ball more often. Hopefully this continues into next season.

If we keep our better players over pre-season, improve the defence/keeper and Scott, Palmer and Baj are back up to speed and havenโ€™t suffered from their injuries, on paper Stuart Maynard will have very good squad. And for that reason I think heโ€™ll be for the whole season, unless itโ€™s a disaster and weโ€™re close to being bottom of the league (but given the quality of the squad I think thatโ€™s unlikely to happen). Even if we were hovering around mid-table for most of the season I donโ€™t think that would get him sacked. I get the impression the owners will give a head-coach โ€œextra-timeโ€ in the hope things turn in our favour. Iโ€™m thinking about what happened with Doncaster last season, they had a decent squad (so should we come the start of the season) but were poor/average until the last 1/3. It shows sacking manager isn't always the answer.

I'm not going to lie and say I don't have doubts considering his tough start, but I hope he's over that now and he's a massive success for us!

in hindsight it must have taken stuart maynard time to adapt to professional football, i think luke williams left at the worst time for us but i dont believe he should not made that decision. it was a good move for him, however it left us needing someone with a similar vision in coaching the team. some fans were never going to give maynard a chance due to his non league and previous work profession but defensively we did look much better under him than we did williams.

most of the mistakes were individual errors, there is not much you can do about that.

we suffered from a lack of attacking prowess but its a learning thing. some of the same fans calling for maynard to leave were the same that complained about williams. all of our managers since neil ardley have been learning on the job and last season was our biggest lesson. stabilising our league status and pushing on, i dont think maynard will fault. i also praise the owners for standing by him when it was so easy to listen to the supporters that wanted him gone. that was on the form and poor results, but i think that had little to do with maynard, i hope he proves it this season that he can get the teams balance correct.

ย

What an Enigmaย  this guy was, becauseย  wherever he went, the Coaching Staff just didn't seem to be able to get his True Talent Out. One match he'd play like a World Beater while in the Next Match he wasn't with it. Aย  Coach with top end Man Management Skills might well have gotten the Best Out Of Him.

    @Wheelbarrow repair man

I think there are lots of players like that, I can remember Stan Bowles of QPR fame and another player springs to mind too, Charlie George, both brilliant on their day, but equally as bad when they were off it

I do wish Enzio luck with his new club, he might just be able to show the consistency with Wealdsone that has been lacking with his play with previous clubs.

good signing for wealdstone, i think enzio has the ability to be a great player for them but he needs a strong manager who can lift and encourage him towards being consistent. his issues here was the fact he was a flash in the pan, he could score a worldie but did not do enough elsewhere on the pitch.

Just reading on the Notts Website Macca as been given the Captain's armband for the up coming season. So raises a couple of questions,

1) Does this mean the Board are confident there will be NO Offers from other Clubs, that will cause Macca to leave the Lane?

2) Why?

Firstly I can not believe that no other Club higher in the Football Pyramid would not come in for Macca and surely it would be better to wait until the Transfer window is closed? Before appointing a New Skipper. Or is it that Notts have put on price on him, that has put off other Clubs bidding for him?

Secondly while I have the utter most Respect for Macca, his job is scoring goals. That should be the Be All and End All. He doesn't need the extra pressure of encouraging the Team on the Pitch and as a Forward (unlike a defender) Can Notย  see the wayย  how the Game plan is working, when his only sight should be on the oppositions goal in front of him. A Captain needs to see all his team Mates and be able judge how the Match is progressing, and adapt things accordingly. He needs to be able to shout and make his orders clear and help any new players positionally. A Striker can't do that and be expected to score goals. Or is Stuart Maynard going to change Macca's position? I really Don't Understand the Appointment.ย  Is this another Stuart Maynard idea? If so it seems Doomed to failure. Matt Palmer as Vice Captain is in a better position to take on the roll ofย  Leadership. Just leave Macca to do what he Does Best, SCORE GOALS.

  • Show previous comments  6 more
  • I think Macca is a very good choice as captain, like he says in his interview itโ€™s not always about being vocal but by setting the standard with level of performance. And your captain needs to be a player that is basically going to start every game and he is that man. I donโ€™t think itโ€™ll be distraction either, when heโ€™s in the box I think heโ€™ll be fully focused on putting the ball in the back of the net, heโ€™s not going to just start wandering around the box to encourage his team mates!

It should also boost the mood the of a few panicked fans that think Macca, JJ and Crowley will all be gone over the summer. I think this is a big boost and almost confirms that heโ€™ll be here next season. A bid might still come in thatโ€™s too good to turn down but Iโ€™d say thereโ€™s an extremely good chance Macca will be here when the transfer window shuts.

You have to name the captain early. Maybe not quite this early, but certainly well before the window closes. The window in EFL isย 14 June to 2 September 2024 so if you delay until 3 September, you're 5 or 6 games into the season.

Some players respond brilliantly to the captaincy. The extra respect, the added responsibility, the pride. I can see Macca doing this job brilliantly and further cementing his place in our history. No doubt it comes with another pay rise and, with the length of his existing contract, hardly anyone outside Championship can afford him.ย

I think there's a player in KC somewhere, but not a leader, and he's a long way from a guaranteed starter if we recruit well this summer.

He needs to play games at his age and a fresh start will do him no harm, although I'd be happy to keep him as a squad player.

I am sure that Macca willย  wear the Notts Captain's Armband with Pride, I have No Doubt about that, I just can't get this Niggling worry out of my mind that it may affect his Goal scoring. Then again Matt Palmer as Vice Captain may contribute the Leadership Role to his Team Mates leaving Macca Free to Do What He Does Best. Score Goals.

This is great news & Matt Palmer has been appointed Vice Captain.

  • Very pleased for him, definitely deserves it, heโ€™s been a revelation since joining us. And pleased for Palmer too, all but confirms heโ€™s over his injury and ready to go for next season โ€“ cos we really missed him!

Naturally it will get folk thinking that Kyle could be moving on. I hope he stays as I thought he finished the season well, maybe the release of this duty can just re-focus and re-motivate him.

I agree he does get a lot of unwarranted stick, the more I think about it (and I could be wrong) but I think playing in the middle is the easiest out of three defensive roles. Brindley looked a lot better in CB then he did at RCB. Even Kyle himself had a very good game there away at Bradford. As the LCB he basically has to play at CB and LB due to our LWB playing as winger!

The big six will swell to, including Newcastle to the big Eight. You know what, if this happens a Superleague is closer than we think.ย

The PL may even split the PL into two leagues of 10 clubs, PL Superleague & PL 2 & have the teams in each league play each other 4 times so 38 games in total.

I wouldn't put it past the PL to think up something like that to make as much money as possible. The TV companies would love it.

I rarely watch the Prem League but I do agree with you,ย ย @Wheelbarrow repair man.It would be interesting seeing how deep the pockets are for the elite 'big eight' as they try and outdo each other for the chance to remain at the top .

Here's an Idea. Get rid of the Premiership, by that I mean leave the Prem to it's own devices. The EFL need to break away from the FA and control the Championship League 2 and rebrand the National League League 3. Yes I know it isn't that simple but I'm sure Fans on this site and other sites and Football Fans in General could come up with a Blue Print that could work and engage with Fans and let them have a stronger say in the running of their club.

My thoughts 1 A maximum Cap on Transfer fees. No player to be sold for more than ยฃ10 million. 2 Players wages set at a maximum figure of no more than ยฃ15,000 a week. 3 Do away with the Transfer window Transfer deals allowed during all the season. 4 Have their own Cup Competitions. 5 All pitches to be brought up to a certain standard. 6 Clubs in the National League be given a chance to play in the EFL League 3 ifย  they so wish. 7 New owners must meet Strick Regulations before being allowed to purchase a Club. They must guarantee they are able to finance a Club for at least 5 years. 8 A Fund to be organized that all Clubs pay (once) an equal amount intoย  to combat things such as another Pandemic.ย  9 Play offs to be discontinued. Each League top 3 up bottom 3 down. It's unfair a team in 6th place can get promoted over a team in 3rd place who may have 10, 15 or more points over the club in 6th place. 10 Clubs should be encouraged to bring through it's own talent and have a minimum of 3 players from their Academy in their Senior Squad.

Those are my ten ideas and yes I know a more accomplished Football Fan could probably pick holes in it, but these are just my thoughts and ideas and I think letting the Premiership go it's own way, will be much better for the English Game in General, and Fans in particular. Now my fellow Magpie Fans it's your turn, lets have your ideas, and if you don't agree with a fellow fan's idea, remember it's their opinion and their entitled to it.ย ย

I think there may be PL Clubs who would be happy to play in the Championship including accepting Transfer and Wage caps.ย  The Premier League would have 25 teams in it with No Relegation. Let them sort their own Cup Competitions and everything else.

While the Championship would be the top League in the EFL and as I've said in my 10 points a Transfer cap of ยฃ10 million and the maximum of ยฃ15,000 weekly wage.ย  Would level the playing field for all teams making them more competitiveย  The EFL would have make up their own Rules and make sure there are No Loop Holes that Clubs might exploit to gain an advantage, over other teams in their League. Any Team found breaking the Rules would be instantly Relegated and fined Heavily. Parachute Payments would be abolished so No team dropping down from the PL would have that advantage over other Teams.ย ย

@Wheelbarrow repair manย I agree with having a cap but ยฃ10 million on transfers & ยฃ15K a week maximum would be too small I think.

Some players in league two are getting more than ยฃ10K per week especially Wrexham, Stockport Mansfield & MK Dons. I believe some of the players at Notts are quite high too.

For League 1 & the Championship the Cap for both those leagues would have to be higher.than League 2, otherwise, as of now, the PL clubs would cream off the best players.

By what you have said, it looks as if you still envisage relegation from the PL & promotion from the Championship to remain.

That's why I would prefer the top six to eight clubs in the PL leave and join a European Super League, then get rid of the PL and have EFL Championship 1 & 2, and League 1 & 2.

We can agree to disagree on those two things????

    ย

    @Robbie

Sure thing it's Ok to Disagree that's the whole idea of Debating. And it's nice to see we can Agree to Disagree and Not Get Personal or Nasty about things.

Even Though I am Right (HA HA). It's Good to be able to Express our Ideas and feelings Regarding Football in General and Notts in Particular.

    Long May It Continue.

I'd like to highlight the benefits of following certain sections of the Pride of Nottingham website.

This is a simple way to stay updated on content that interests you, while also keeping track of your favourite parts and members of our site. It requires a bit of time, but it's definitely worth it, and I'd appreciate it if members could spare a moment to do this.

Our community is expanding every month, and everyone has their own preferred method. However, this underused feature makes it easier to stay engaged. You can even opt to receive grouped email notifications instead of individual ones.

Please take a moment to read the below post, as I will list some important areas.

  • Once Iโ€™m done with my current posts, Iโ€™ll make a point to follow some members whose comments I find enjoyable, as well as take the time to follow certain parts of the site. I think itโ€™s worth noting that Iโ€™ll actively browse and not just wait for information to come to me. Thereโ€™s a lot more pleasure to be had from digging in and exploring - thatโ€™s how you discover new things you havenโ€™t seen before. But the follow function is equally important.

I still very much encourage members to get the follow count up for every area of the site which they're interested in. You can narrow down how you are notified and even have emails notifications grouped.

You can do the same for your favourite posters, so you never miss what they post here. ????

In your opinion who is the Greatest Player of all time and why? Here's a Dozen Names to start with :-

Peleย  ย  Diego Maradonaย  ย  Lionel Messiย  ย  Christian Ronaldo

Johan Cryuffย  ย  George Bestย  ย  Ferenc Puskasย  ย  Franz Beckenbauer

Gerd Mullerย  ย  Robert Lewandowskiย  ย  Bobby Mooreย  ย  Roberto Baggio

Most players above are there for their scoring power, and other attacking skills. However other are namedย

for their Leadership Qualities and an Inspiration to their Team Mates.

Feel free to add players to the List and why they should be on it.

Franz is a very good choice too who could easily be named as the GOAT

In my list I didn't include Banks, Masopust, Maradona Cruyff, Ronaldo (Portugal), Ronaldo (Brazil), Stanley Mathews, or Best in my final 10.

If you added those players to the 10 that I selected as my short list, all those players would be a fantastic team to watch with all those substitutes to come on too if needed.ย

That team with all those players at their best, could easily beat any team in history put before itย

Unless anyone can name an alternative squad of players to challenge them?

Maybe the current Real Madrid or Man City teams could give them a game.

Incidentally Jozef Masopust was a big player in the 60s that played in midfield for Dukla Prague & Czechoslovakia. He was influential in getting Czechoslovakia to the 1962 final against Brazil

    @Robbie

I suppose we could assemble a whole Squad of players worth a shot at the title of the G.O.A.T inย  different ways. There is also a Case for a guy called Steve Bloomer who played for Derby County ( @super_ramย could probably tell us more about him) I believe he played for the Rams in the 1890's or Early 1900's. And Notts own Tommy Lawton may be worth a mention. Basically the Guys I have named are Players I have seen, not all in the Flesh as it were, but on TV film and such like. Puskas was before my timeย  I remember seeing him on film when he was part of the Hungarian team which beat England 6-3 at Wembleyย  and Di Sefano is a name I have heard of. Stanley Mathews is of course a name I also know due to the epic Mathews Finalย  when Stan Finally won an FA Cup Winners Medal. And didn't he play his final Professional Match aged 50? Then of course a Great Player I almost forgot Eusebio, how could I forget him Star man in many a Portugal and Benfica Team.

I Don't think even the current Manchester City team would get anywhere near a team made up of the Super Stars we've named on here, when they were all at their peak. Wouldn't it be Great to get a Computerised match featuring the current City Team and an Elite XI from our suggestions? Not unlike the Rocky Marciano vs Muhammed Ali boxing match from the 1970's remember that?

    @Wheelbarrow repair man

I saw all those players I mentioned too, either in the flesh or on the telly. My Dad took me to see Masopust & Dukla Prague when they played at Forest in a friendly in Nov 1966.

Watched the 1966 World Cup on the telly too.

The 1970 World Cup was the best World Cup in my opinion. That Brazil side was something else.

    Sorry to go off topic.

Average losses at EFL 1 are incredible

ย

Well it's all Well and Good the Championship and Leagues 1 & 2 attempting to Cut Costs or attempting to cut loses but what about the Premier League? The Cost to compete in that Division is Crazy anywhere fromย  ยฃ20 million to ยฃ100million plus Transfer Deals, players being paid anything from a ยฃ100k to ยฃ500k a week is disgusting, until the Premier League Costs and Payments are bought under Control how are teams further down the Football Pyramid going to compete? They'll need to spend money (which they probably have Not Got) to be on Par with other Richer Clubs.

Take Notts as an Example should they gain Promotion next Season how much Extra cost will the Owners have to pay out to enable them to put togetherย  a side capable performing and competing in League 1? And how much of that cost will be passed on to the Fans?

    Absolutely @Wheelbarrow repair man

I think the TV companies are selling the EFL clubs short for the televising of matches by just paying them ยฃ935 million over five years yet the PL are getting ยฃ6.7 billion over a 4 year period.

In my opinion the EFL should be getting much more plus advertising revenue too.

The Clubย  I follow service was sacrificed so that the EFL could get 50% more revenue from the TV companies but I believe that was a big mistake.

    ย

So Very Trueย @Robbieย here's yet another reason why the EFL should break away from the F.A and let the Premiership go it's own way has I have said before. Every Club outside of the Premier League is on a loser and with Championship Clubs trying desperately to get their share of the Prem Gravy train are spending well above their means in order to do so. It seems that Leicester City will already start at a disadvantage next season with a points deduction before a ball has even been kicked. And despite Promotion and the money injected intoย  Clubs who get to the Premier League last season all clubs who got Promoted have been Relegated back to the Championship this season.

And as you have stated those Clubs will have a huge advantage over all the other Clubs in the Championship due to the Parachuteย  Payments System. It just gets worse and it will remain so until the people who run the EFL are replaced by others who have the Lower League Clubs and their Fans interests at Heart.
