just class his comments, as i said elsewhere giving credit to neal ardley and ian burchnall says what a manager we have. he takes nothing for granted, keeps calm and understand what impacts a successful club. retaining him here will be massive, i hope he commits because we could progress further as a club together. i would hate to see him leave for reading and for him to end up like ian burchnall, i think hes more switched on and a lot more loyal than burchnall.

Luke Williams is a tactical genius and a manager who leads by example. His connection to the squad is very uplifting. His interviews are usually always on point, focused and full of praise for people other than himself. Such a decent person, who smiles and brings delight.
I would encourage all who comment to this, to take a look at @TheSkipper's discussion: Let's give Luke the praise he deserves!

I’ll be in block 104 tomorrow and I can’t wait to see Wembley in all its glory. It always looks amazing on TV, but I bet it’s even more magical in person. What a season we’ve had and now we get this final treat! Safe travels to all of you making the journey. And don’t forget your lucky socks!

Why not? It's a nice gesture and it's not like he's depriving anyone of a seat. The Independent calling it "weird" for someone who loves football to attend a football match is a really mean spirited take on it.
Of course the press will be interested in him, he's an A lister. But who cares? From 3.30pm tomorrow the whole focus will be on the team and the big prize.

The media always try to create controversy and unfortunately there are always some who like to join in negatively. I'm pleased most Notts fans embrace RR's gesture the way he intends it

Some fans act more immaturely than my younger cousins. It’s embarrassing that we are preparing to go to Wembley and all some fans can do is complain or moan about someone wishing us luck. It’s amazing how some fans just like to be critical of things rather than being happy about where our club is.

Being a Notts County fan in a city dominated by Forest fans can be challenging. Throughout school, most people I knew supported Forest or whichever Premier League club was doing well at the time. Usually, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal.
I can recall wearing my Notts shirts around the city when we were in League One and hardly having any negative experiences. It seemed like a time when Nottingham embraced Notts from a Nottingham Forest perspective. However, when we were relegated to League Two, we became a constant laughingstock and that seemed to break any acceptance by Forest fans. Quickly returned the annoying banter and idiots calling out why a Notts fan would be walking around their own city. Even some glory-hunting Premier League fans at times would say how poor Notts were. It was a truly depressing time, made worse by Alan Hardy and our relegation to the National League.
Have you had similar experiences as a Notts County fan in a city dominated by Forest fans? How do you cope with the banter and negative comments?
I have attended the pre-season friendly between Forest, and it wasn’t that bad. I think because we are doing okay, their fans can’t think of much to say, especially with their own situation. I also went to the League Cup game, in which we lost on penalties, which was a very joyous occasion.
Have you attended any matches between Notts County and Forest? What was your experience like?
My advice to fans would be to give as good as you get. If a Forest fan treats you with respect, treat them the same. If they give banter, try to give it back provided they are not thugs! At the end of the day, wear our colours with pride!
Do you have any advice for other Notts County fans living in a city dominated by Forest fans?

I’ve had both positive and negative experiences, but I would say that it’s just as bad with supporters of any club, not just some Forest fans. I’ve travelled to college before and encountered Manchester United fans in Nottingham who were consistently offensive towards Notts.
-
@Joshua I did find it funny at school, when people would go on about Manchester United and how die hard of a fan they were but had never been to a single game. I don't mind if people choose to support whoever they want, and I don't even mind if they're fans of two teams. However, it becomes an issue when they switch between teams based solely on whichever one is performing better at the time.
Yet I have had issues with some United fans before; oddly when I went to Manchester with my family they were all very friendly and inquisitive about Notts.

Exceptional article this.
It's never easy being a Notts fan and this article shows just how much we've suffered in years gone by.
Another thing this article brings is that the Reedtz brothers are steadying this club and building a foundation of positivity rather than negativity. As well as this it demonstrates how much we've improved and how much everyone involved has bought excitement that this could be the year we get back in the EFL.
-
remember the days when we would all want to hide of embarrassment when articles like this would be written? thanks to our owners, it very much reflecting on what they have delivered to the club, along with the coaching staff and players.
-
Great article. There are one or two mistakes (the Football League was created in 1888, so we can't have been in it for 157 years), but the passion shines through and it's such a good description of what we've been through recently.
Our club has been mismanaged for so long that it's sometimes difficult to imagine being successful again. Tomorrow is a golden opportunity to reward every Notts fans for keeping the faith, and we deserve it so much.
-
-
I am quite confident that many of us fans are not far behind or are indeed past that mark.
To begin with, I must admit it's quite helpful that I honestly can't recall the goal. You see, I was accidentally punched twice, which left me with a very faint memory of the game and the day.I have to watch the highlights just to jog my memory, in fact the video the club did of the game really helps.
I thought this was a brilliant video by the club.
-
i had it on loop after it was released, i think it would make a great screensaver!
-
It could very well be one of the most viewed videos among Notts fans. The story it tells is brilliant and the win was such a crucial one. When Jodi Jones arrived, he mentioned how he wanted to find happiness, as he hadn't been playing much and was eager to get match fit. Now, just look at the difference he's making to our squad! Every time I watch his goal, I can't help but hear Rubeus Hagrid's voice in my head saying "You're a wizard, Jodi!"

The Pride of Nottingham is excited to reveal that it’s time to recognise the player of the season! This prestigious honour is awarded to the player who has demonstrated outstanding talent and commitment on the field. We’re searching for someone who represents the essence of Notts County and has made a substantial contribution to our team. Who will take home the prize this year? It’s up to you to decide!

I'm both surprised and not surprised at the same time. I voted for Sam Slocombe, who has had to work hard at times this season. While it's true that when Notts plays well the keeper has little to do, there have been spells where Slocombe has single-handedly kept games a win or a draw. Very rarely has he been at fault for conceding. He's a solid player and deserves recognition for his efforts.
-
39% so far for Matt Palmer. I am a little surprised by this. Not because he isn't a very good player from what I have seen, but more so for the clear success that Macaulay Langstaff has had. It says a lot about the dynamic midfielder that he has quietly done his best and is reaping the praise from supporters on the Pride of Nottingham.

Macaulay Langstaff has had an impressive first season at Notts County and has certainly made a strong case for being named the signing of the season. He has consistently performed well on the pitch and has been a valuable asset to the team. It’s great to see him getting the recognition he deserves and I would definitely cast my vote for him as the signing of the season.
-
Macaulay Langstaff is running away with this. I bet even a fortune teller could have made predictions of such praise. Mind you, scoring 42 in a single season is quite handy to know beforehand.

I have to say that John Bostock’s free kick against Wrexham was an absolute beauty. Not only was it a superb strike, but it was an excellent goal that managed to beat the experienced Ben Foster.

What a game it was between Wrexham and Notts County! The final score may have been 3-2, but John Bostock’s screamer of a goal was definitely a highlight. And let’s not forget about Ben Foster’s heroics in the final minute, saving Scott’s penalty to secure the victory for Wrexham. Truly an unforgettable match!

@Chris are you sure his loan spell is up? Seems strange for it to cover Sunday but not the following Saturday.
It was mentioned by Ollie in the press conference that his loan deal ends after Saturdays, so he should be OK.
i would sign him straight away, but look to play him as one of the front three rather than a wingback.
-
His deal runs out in June, but I have read on two sites that it had experienced already which is incorrect.
The Oxford website has provided clarification on this matter.
If his contract had expired, then his player registration would have been removed from Notts, however this isn't the case thank god.
-
We all dream of having Jodi Jones on our team. Once his contract expires, I bet his agent will be flooded with interest. So, it could be in our best interest to act now. I hope that we are already in talks with Jodi. It would seem foolish to bring him in on loan and not try to persuade him to give us a few years of his career. At his age, he still has time to learn and improve before reaching his prime. I think he would make us more attack-minded in a way that intimidates the opposition when he runs at them. That’s a luxury we can’t afford to miss if we can help it.

After 45 rounds and so many twists and turns it's a wonder it hasn't got its own Netflix series, this is it - the final round. We're all battling for positions, but we still have two players in contention for this season's star prize (once I've found it down my sofa) and an eternal place in the prediction league hall of fame. The League Two fixtures below kick off at the frankly crazy time of 11.30am on 8 May, with the Championship following at 2.00pm. So get your predictions in before then, and remember your jokers
Full disclosure: the timing of this last round isn't great as I'm off to The Hague on holiday (no, I'm not being sent there for crimes to counting prediction league points). However, I will announce the winner on Monday at the very least, with the full results to follow ASAP.
Good luck everyone!

Millwall v Blackburn Rovers
Middlesbrough v Coventry City
Preston North End v Sunderland
Bradford City v Leyton Orient
Newport County v Crewe Alexandra

There's an upset on the cards at Meadow Lane!
This should've been written for the second goal, way too early to suggest that an upset was about to happen. I thought Boreham Woods first was offside, but it was very well-timed. I felt very saddened at first but I always had hope and faith. Due to taken pictures I saw how it effected the fans, which is something I do tend to absorb due to my nature. I felt extreamly proud that an amount of fans just responded positively.
A friend near to me threw his walking stick, everybody just had so much emotion.
-
For me, it was the game of the season. Watching a team dominate in terms of goals and force errors was satisfying. Boreham Wood arrived fearless and, although they employed some underhanded tactics, it made the game all the more enjoyable when we scored those 3 goals that secured our victory.
-
Notts County games are always full of excitement and surprises. I’ve seen some pretty funny and weird things happen during the games. Here are a couple of my favourite moments:
A while back, an assistant referee sprinting along the sideline slipped and toppled to the ground. There was an extensive delay as everyone checked to make sure he was okay. Both sets of fans started chanting ‘she fell over’ (I know it’s not very politically correct in this day and age) and making comments about diving.
Another memorable moment was when the Dagenham & Redbridge keeper, Elliot Justham, tried to provoke the KOP by making gestures into the crowd. Some fans didn’t take kindly to this and told him exactly what they thought. Justham just continued to slow down his goal kicks, which only made the fans more frustrated. It was amusing to see just how much the officials let him get away with.
These are just a couple of examples of the funny and weird things that can happen at Notts County games. What are some of your favourite moments?

Funniest? Dave Regis scoring at Wembley with a pelvic thrust. Or "off his midriff" as that nice polite Mr Slater put it.
Weirdest was possibly John Fashanu swallowing his tongue and Steve Cherry possibly saving his life. One of the blokes I was with said "I've got a body bag in my boot". He wasn't kidding - he worked for a funeral director.
Then there was the game against Darlington when the County Road started singing "we hate Geordies"... and then Darlo fans joined in and then carried on after the Notts fans stopped.
-
I recall Neal Bishop scoring a goal with his backside after the ball deflected off it. I can’t remember the opposing team, but it occurred when Notts were in League One.
Does anyone else remember this?
-
The Notts fan who attempted the crossbar challenge earlier this season slipped as he went to kick the ball, causing it to move only a short distance. He landed on his back, got up, repositioned the ball and then skied it well over. It was very funny! He took it in good spirits.

Boreham Wood’s behaviour during the match was highly unprofessional. They seemed fully capable of playing without resorting to such antics, which only served to provoke the Notts players. Kyle Cameron appeared to react negatively at times, confronting their players on several occasions. This kind of behaviour should be ignored, and I believe players like John Bostock dealt with it well.
Ruben Rodrigues was largely absent from the game and seemed to use his injury as an excuse for missing opportunities. While he may have injured his ankle, one doesn’t simply start running again. He needs to put an end to that. In fact, I thought we performed much better without him on the pitch. Sam Austin proved to be a player who made an effort to advance the play.
Winning the match 3-2 in our favour seemed unbelievable and I am thrilled with the result. However, Boreham Wood’s conduct left a bad impression and they need to work on their professionalism on the pitch.

I strongly feel that Luke Williams would have told his side that the game is still winnable in his half time team talk.
I liked what Jodi Jones said after the match; that he didn't panic at half time - Notts could have been 3-0 up after 15 minutes, so there was no reason why they couldn't score 3 after the break.
Jodi's taken a while to settle, and until his cross for the equaliser wasted a few opportunities yesterday, but he's clearly a quality player.
Nemane's clearance was also one of the moments of the season for me. He kept us in it.

As we are going to Wembley next Saturday, me included, I thought it would be nice to remember our trips to Wembley over the years.
I'll start with the Anglo Italian Cup on 19th March 1995. Notts faced Ascoli after beating Stoke on penalties after a 0-0 draw over 2 legs. That may not have been the most exciting tie ever! Notts took the lead through Tony Agana after 17 mins. Ascoli drew level in the 33rd minute. Devon White put Notts in front on the stroke of half time. Notts held on in the 2nd half for a 2-1 win. Around 11K fans were at Wembley to witness Notts winning a European trophy.
Edit: Yes I said European trophy and I'll fight anyone who disagrees
-
yes, i have travel and tickets all booked. i think the club and the fa could make this a whole lot easier. as buying your transport before your match ticket just seems strange but i could not risk not being able to get down.

I am incredibly lucky and fortunate that my grandfather took me to every trip in the 90s, albeit not the Brighton game as I was deemed too young but my brother went to that. On the way home, they were involved in a crash and some other Notts fans brought them home. It says a lot about what our fans can be like when it comes to helping each other!
Anywho, I look forward to seeing what else you post in regard to Wembley @Dripsey3.

yes, we seem to allow the best prospects slip through the cracks but in one way. notts is not the type of team to give them the chance they need to secure a place in the first team, most would probably end up released and picked up. its something notts should try to improve.
with all the stats and knowledge of what makes a good player, i would have though the reedtz would want to bring that side to the academy as a way to enhance it.
-
I think it's more modern football than a reflection on the club @liampie. The really good ones who would otherwise make the breakthrough are spirited away to big clubs before they kick a ball for us, and most of the remainder just don't quite have what it takes.
Going back a few years, David Platt and Peter Beardsley each played more than 100 games for their first clubs (Crewe and Carlisle) before they hit the big time. Unimaginable now.
-
In recent years, only Sam Osborne has made it into the Notts squad from their youth players. Despite being one of the better players, his appearances were limited. Managers often use the excuse of players not being ready when they lack faith in them or don’t want to risk their own job. Since 2020, Sam has played for 5 clubs. Even though some of these teams paid a fee for him, it doesn’t help his career to keep moving around. This is a common issue for young players today. If they’re not considered good enough, they won’t play and may end up bouncing around lower-tier teams without building a solid career for themselves.

I have renewed my season ticket. It took several hours of waiting on the phone, but I wouldn’t have missed the opportunity to renew it.

Renewing my season ticket was an absolute must for me. I was on it like a car bonnet, making sure to sort it out just a few days after they became available. There’s not a chance I’d miss out on the opportunity to cheer on my team and soak up the buzz for another season. I’m a die-hard fan through and through!

I’ve renewed my season ticket and I reckon it’s clever of the club to do it so promptly. Seasons like the previous one and the prospect of promotion provide fans with more incentive to renew. If the best outcome transpires, we could witness the highest season ticket uptake for at least a decade. I would renew regardless, but I don’t blame anyone for not doing so. It’s a considerable amount of money, but the positive aspect is that it enables the club to commence early on securing new signings and affording contract renewals where increased pay may be desired.

Firstly sorry not to be at the San Sirrel yesterday... but I have been watching Barcelona, away at Rayo Vallecano and at home to Real Betis ( both on tv)
Sometimes I get frustrated at Notts with wayward passes but could not believe the same thing happens with Barcelona, maybe in greater numbers
2 noticeable similarities with Notts, trying to play that "Ruben" inside ball on the right...in fact Ruben could easily play for Barca
Secondly , the "Bostock" curved ball into the box for the strikers to run on to.
I just wish Chicksen had the element to his game, to offer to beat his man on the outside from a standing start.
Both teams try to pass the ball into the box. 50% of Barca corners are delivered first time into the penalty spot area.

I thought going off the title, you had watched all the games in attendance. That would have been a blast! Though just sitting at home with your popcorn and remote. But hey, nothing beats the San Sirrel, right? The best stadium in the world, hands down.

i dont watch much football, i prefer to watch the italian and german leagues. the passing backwards is a modern way to make our formation work, it enables space to open up and gives us the advantage when we have 5 or more in midfield. it makes it difficult to play against us as an attacking team.

The benefits of watching TV games is the fact it's free, but I do prefer to watch live games more so than those on TV. During COVID, it was difficult to get used to watching streams and it just didn't feel the same. I have watched televised games from across the world; my actual preference is to watch South American games.
Those are the ONLY games I would prefer to watch on TV, instead of in person. Why? I'll let The Mask answer that.
Get yourself to San Sirrel on Sunday if you can @Piethagoram, we need your shouting and match thoughts!
