Any news on Slocombe?

Notts needs this man back ASAP, he’s a quality keeper and McDonnell looks like a player happy sit in when needed.

He doesn’t look very good to tell the truth.

I’d feel confident if Slocombe returned.

4-6 weeks potentially.

I think most will be eager to see him return but we need to avoid rushing it, he's been injured twice now so far this season.

it will be good to have him back, i dont think people can write joe mcdonnell off just yet, if the players perform in front of him it should be easier.

He’s a  promotion quality keeper, his presence helps Notts.

It seems like for ages since he's been in goal for Notts, Jim O'Brien returned much quicker it feels. Two different injuries I know, but it's weird how it feels.

He will be a good player to have back in the fold, the club has a good keeper in Sam Slocombe.

He's needed for the playoffs! :D

Sod the cup tomorrow, let's get back the focus on the league.

It would’ve be good to have the likes of Slocombe back, thanks for updating me.

I really would be more confident in Notts with slocombe in goal. We are doing ok with McDonnell but not the best

I don't all the dislike/hate towards Joe McDonnell, he's a newly signed keeper. Some of his performance could be put down to settling in, once he has a proper understanding of the players in front of him he may improve. The goal he blundered, it could happen to anyone at this level.

Give McDonnell a chance, when everyone is playing a stinker of a game it's harder for the keeper. If he settles in, he could be a good squad player but Sam Slocombe is excellent.

I agree, but McDonnell is fine when Notts performs as s team.

I would question the sanity of any fan who didn't want Sam Slocombe back, but I do those who go on about Joe McDonnell not being world class. At this level two keepers of the same quality would be a luxary.

Most League One teams have a bog standard backup.

This is from the pre-match Fylde press conference, also has info on everyone else currently out injured.

"Sam was going along nicely but he just started getting a little bit of soreness back in there, so we’ve taken a step back.

"But everything’s telling us we’re on the right track with him. The kicking’s going to be the key thing – he can do most things now but, with him being a goalkeeper, it’s vital he can strike balls.

"We could get him to a certain point and then the last bit might become more difficult."

Sounds like a he's still a couple of weeks away from being 100%...

Sam would be a good player see back in the starting 11, the club released an update earlier but it's not as useful as you would think.

When did they start providing injury updates?

Some form of update, I think Joe McDonnell can cover until Slocombe is 100%.

He could be closer to a return then Chris, if he does come back soon, I think it would be about the right time.

Joe McDonnell sounded quite poor on the radio coverage, his kicking and decision making seemed to never questioned a lot. Hopefully, Sam Slocombe can make a full return soon.

I hope we hear some more news on the radio tonight, someone told me at Barrow that Slocombe has been training more. I don't usually buy rumours but it sounds like he's getting close, he will be a huge return.

Mcdonnell is doing ok, but i do think slocombe is more consistant.
