Michael Doyle’s suspension

Who should come in and replace him? I think Jim O’Brien will need a few more games to be match sharpe, Regan Booty is out supposedly with a back injury.

I’m not worried, I think it will actually help the club in the long run.

It's time like this management skills and, mentorship are two very important things within football management. Neal Ardley has to get players running through brick walls for him, he needs to give players a chance and as some fans (like myself have been saying) - there's a need to rotate players.

Tom Crawford can do the job, he did well at this level with AFC Flyde.

Why can't he at Notts? There's nothing stopping him, however, footballers produce their best when they feature on a consistent basis.

If their form drops whilst frequently playing, they should be dropped but it's down to us to get the best out of a player.

I wouldn't be against seeing Enzio Boldewijn step into the middle, with Mitch Rose playing the defensive cover - provided it meant someone direct like Sam Osborne started on the wing. I feel sorry for Cal Roberts, he's been built up massively and will need time to get to terms to where Notts are.

A field where dreams become reality.

If Booty isn't fit, it's basically two of Rose, Crawford and O'Brien. As you say, Jimbo probably isn't ready to go the ninety minutes yet, but if he can manage an hour he could be a starter. He could also give the front two a bit more service than they've been having recently. Crawford will be a little bit ring rusty as he hasn't been playing much, but the only way to solve that one is to play him more. I strongly suspect all three of them will be on the pitch at some point next week.

we should not expect jim o'brien to just come back onto the squad and wonders,

i know it will take him some to get fully match fit but i am unsure if it would be wise to expect him to feature for 90 minutes just because michael doyle is suspended. there is cover in the squad, regan booty might be back.

I honestly can't see anything but Jim O'Brien coming in. When Doyle got sent off, he came on instead of Crawford.

O'Brien will now have a full weeks training, and whilst he'll probably only manage 70 mins I'd be amazed if he didn't start. We've only seen Crawford start in the cup games, the last time he started was his only start against Solihull and that's because we changed our system to deal with them.

And sadly it seems like Booty won't be back that soon, I seem to recall someone saying he needs another scan on his back...

It's a chance for the likes of Tom Crawford, I think Neal Ardley might try to get cover in on loan. The midfield has a lot of youngsters there, but I don't see him playing some of those players.

I am of the mindset that someone else will step forward, I wonder if Mitch Rose will come to the plate if he takes over as the captain? Neal Ardley needs to be stronger in giving some of the players better instructions.

Id say booty. Obrien isnt ready yet.

If he's back from his injury.

It's a back issue, and I haven't read a lot of information about it so who knows?

A lot of conditioning work needs to be done with Jim, he's the answer but it's a risk if they rush him and the worst does happen again.

If Neal Ardley doesn't have cover, he'll find someone who can play the middle. It's a shame Matt Tootle isn't here, as I did feel he did okay in midfield.

Michael Doyle has ran the show until his sending off, he will be missed but I just hope it doesn't show that badly. The club needs to find someone younger, with energy to do the dirty stuff most pull away from.

It's a daft sending off, if Neal Ardley is instructing him to make challenges like this both need to have their heads checked.

There's a good chance for someone else to step in and get some game time.

We have to pray that they take the opportunity to do well, not sit back and just become a squad filler.

If Notts retains the form for the remaining two games without Michael Doyle, it could be harder for his return. His experience should prove be useful to the run up to the playoffs.

It will be interesting to see how Notts perform without Michael Doyle, he comes across as a pantomime villain but actually seems like he’s a good asset in terms of experience.

If not rash.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.
