The supporters club are selling the flag that gets surfed over the crowd in the kop, apparently it’s been damaged by a lighter so fire damaged, whoever buys it has to sign an agreement not to take it to any football ground.

Bids start at £100.

Do Notts have an emergency Striker to play upfront  just incase Jatta & McGoldrick get injured?

I'm not talking about a defender going up front if one of our strikers have to go off injured

When on the training ground, do Notts actually have players practicing the attacking role in line with the Notts style of play? If I was a reporter I'd ask that very question.

We've seen Robbie Cundy come on as a substitute & play upfront a couple of times but that appeared more ad hoc than anything.

So who would be able to fill the roll of an emergency Striker? I'd possibly go for Ness, Tsaroulla or Grant.

So who would you choose as your emergency Striker & should Notts plan for this on the training ground?

Where's James Sanderson nowadays?...scored on his debut last season....

Yes he did score on his debut, Notts youngest ever FA cup goalscorer...he'll be back in 6-8 weeks or so. Absolutely chomping at the bit to show his worth!

Thankfully, we shouldn't need to rely on a player to fill in as a striker, but as others before me, there will be options within the squad. If we are without an out-and-out striker, someone will surely step up. Could this be how Matty Platt gets his first goal for the club? Joking aside, someone more suited like Jodi Jones would do fine.

There are players who can go up top; Conor Grant, for example, has played as a striker. When Coventry City were in League Two, they had injuries up top, and Jodi Jones at times played as a striker. I believe he did so against us for this reason; virtually any attacking midfielder should be able to cover.

I recall the 1998 season when fans told me we put different players up top, especially a centre-back, and although I did attend games that season. I am too young to remember who, plus my memory is very foggy on who played as a striker. It's a good thing we have more depth now, though I wouldn't be against giving the position to someone to cover it if we needed to, as this is the best outcome.

Good morning it’s a bright start here in York but it’s forecast to rain later.

Yesterday we went to the Yorvik Centre to learn all about the Vikings, it was fascinating stuff, we boarded a “Time Machine” which was like a dodgem car and we were whisked back in time travelling through the streets of York as they would have been during the Viking times, there were moving mannequins depicting people going about there everyday business.

Today we’ll go to the castle museum to see more modern history.

Have a good day everyone.

Didzy is in the running for the League Two Player of the Month. Good luck to David McGoldrick. No doubt we'll be in support of him earning it.

Forward Emily Brett has rejoined Notts County Women from Sporting Khalsa.

She will strengthen the squad and give Adam Dunleavy more options upfront.

I wonder who fans feel deserves to be named the new vice-captain now that Dan Crowley has left for the gloriously woeful MK Franchise? I propose David McGoldrick. I think he has led us through his experience and been much more of an influential player this season compared to last. We had a spell during this campaign where he alone changed the outcome of certain games, such as Swindon Town away earlier in the first part of 2024-25.

What about you and why?

Is this a good move by Carlisle United?

  • i only know him as a former welsh international and he played for man utd, except he was a manager after but his success is before my time mostly. i dont know if hes a good or bad manager but going from the premier league to league two would suggest his career is on the decline. good luck to him at carlisle.

Last roll of the dice really, they need more than just the potential new manager bounce to stay up. Given how his time ended at Bradford, it doesn’t fill you with confidence either. I say last roll of the dice but I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if Hughes got sacked before the end of the season!

Be interesting to see how this all plays out for Cedwyn too, I’m guessing a large part of why he joined Carlisle was not only to be closer to Newcastle but to play under Mike Williamson. No idea how Mark Hughes will play and if he see’s him in his first team, they have about 30 players so he’s not short on choice.

Those sort of days are long gone. Now we can look forward with optimism to much better days ahead

The Club has been rebuilt under the Reedtz brothers from top to bottom & we now have a team to be proud of.

The home game was very impressive. It was always going to be a tough challenge to ask the team to compete against Swansea City, who were then in the Premier League. The replay at their ground was a very harrowing experience, but fans still chanted, which showed the spirit.

before i started going to away games but i know notts fans tend to make a lot of noise even when we are being out played or losing. i do remember the home game and that they had sanches the hot portuguese player who looked pretty average.

Notts's two postponed fixtures have been rearranged as follows.

The new dates are:

Colchester (H): Tuesday 18 February (7.45pm)

Grimsby (A): Tuesday 11 March (7.45pm)

The club's current owners have been around for almost six seasons now. We all know how much the Reedtz brothers have restored pride in the club, attracted new fans, and invested in all the right areas.

What are your thoughts on their recruitment from their first season to now?

Obviously, they didn't have much time to work at the beginning with the takeover stalling and how quickly the club had to prepare. We also don't know how many of the signings brought into the club were Neil Ardley's focus or the board's. Some, on paper, look more like Ardley's type of player to me.

We can single out where signings have failed and praise where they have succeeded. But, as a whole, I think the club is recruiting a lot more efficiently. I also believe the Reedtz brothers are largely responsible for attracting players who want to play for the club because of the environment they have built and nurtured over time.

I await your thoughts on this before I share my own in detail.

  • Brilliant responses, and no worries @Chris. It's an easy mistake, and I thank you for sharing the discussion on social media. I hope it gets more exposure and we see more replies from fans.

To follow up on @John Wardle, I agree. League Two teams won't know much about them, but our squad's depth gives us the advantage of being able to throw in different players who could make an impact. This is a benefit of good recruitment and having a strong squad where all players have a chance to make an impact in the starting 11.

I have no doubt that the club always tries its best to sign the best possible players, even when they do turn out to be panic signings. I, for one, would rather the club tries to add cover than choose not to add strength when it could be included.

I think this is why Notts have started offering some players shorter deals. This is a good idea as it allows them to renew or let the player find another club. It is easy to give the likes of Matt Palmer much longer, though I seem to think he initially signed on a one-year deal and then extended to more. He has signed three extensions now? I believe this is correct. Under previous regimes, he would be one of those players we would have lost and signed by a rival. Yet we have hung onto him and he is establishing a great career here, well worthy of leading us out as captain.

The recruitment has been very good. As I mentioned, the club is signing with intent and seem to balance the wages as a means to avoid overspending. I think lessons have been learned from last season when Palmer was injured, which gave our recruitment the biggest eye-opener it has had since the Reedtz took over. I also think that we realised just how much we rely on Palmer, which is why Scott Robertson was a welcome signing to give us something similar. Robertson, although injured now, looks to be a great asset when in form. Early on, I thought he and Palmer would be the future. Yes, we haven't seen it much, but there is still time once he fully recovers, which will likely be next season.

The squad we have now, if promoted, I don't think the club would have to address much. A backup keeper, a few players here and there, and maybe another striker to add to the goal threat, but we are seeing how the recruitment is making a difference. Should the recruitment team have pushed for a replacement for Macaulay Langstaff, I think it has worked out well, with January being when we look to further fuel our bid to finish in the automatics. Looking outside the UK, it is a big market and not every club in this league could pull of a signing a player like Mai Traore or Alasanna Jatta.

Aidan Stone’s contract has been mutually terminated to allow him to pursue opportunities closer to his family home in the south-west

  • The way Carlisle United have been signing players, I thought Aidan Stone might join Cedwyn Scott up north with them, despite wanting to be closer to his family. I wish Stone all the best. I don't mind him and always felt he acted professionally. No fuss, just tried to impress, and when out of favour, he kept trying. That has to be respected because most would cause trouble or complain.

Watching Aidan Stone in the pre-season, I felt very encouraged because what I witnessed seemed very promising. He looked like he was ready to take the opportunity, but in hindsight I wonder if he was pushing himself too much and demanding what he needed time to deliver. I know, some will say that playing against the standard of teams which we did doesn't compare to League Two, and it doesn't. Yet, you can see a player's natural ability nonetheless.

What encouraged me was his ability to command the area; he was very vocal. He would come for crosses and catch them, while I like Sam Slocombe (I think a lot of fans are harsh towards him), did feel Stone was a big step forward.

Despite comments that he was the worst keeper we have had (directed at him early on), I always thought he tried and I do feel he would be much better in the squad we have now. Whenever I interacted with him, I always tried to put across that those vocals weren't the main voice of the fanbase. I mean, he signed quite a lot of A4 and A3 prints, while a fan was being pathetic towards him, and this was like the third home game of the season.

I think the poor defending, abuse from certain fans, the fact Stone was pushing himself too fast, and blaming himself took away any chance of building confidence. He's not a bad keeper, he just deflates when teams score, and that is 100% a confidence thing.

I would have him happily as our backup, to which I hope Sam Slocombe retires with us, but I do think Stone could have been a good backup to Alex Bass. Slocombe has been a good servant of the club, but again we are far too critical of our keepers and considering a fan near me shouted he would **** him after conceding, only for David McGoldrick to score during the fan's petty rant. I would hate to be the world's best keeper, and playing for Notts, putting up with that.

Good luck to Stone at Yeovil, we have massively upgraded with Bass but I would like to see someone with half of Stone's professionalism come in as our backup keeper in time.

  • I’d be questioning the designers there, I guess they had some sort of a brief because it does mention it’s representing old red bricks that used to be made in Wrexham, but come on, given the amount of money that club has now they can do better than that.

It looks like the kind of thing someone did quickly on a Friday afternoon when they forgot that was the deadline!

It's not going down well, is it? It probably will look a lot better in person, but saying it looks nice might still be a stretch. I would have thought Wrexham would have gone for something grander.

I bet he wished he'd never left MK Dons. He won just 5 of his 25 games in charge of Carlisle.

The Football League's bottom side Carlisle United sack boss Mike...

  • Show previous comments  4 more
  • I am confused as to why they even spent money on appointing a manager who was already in management. Although he probably would have been sacked by now if he was still at MK Dons, it makes me wonder if Carlisle are not just panicking due to the results. It's going to be hard for them to steer themselves to safety; a new manager will basically have to start again.

Mike Williamson had the chance of a dream move, not once but twice. If he was a good manager at this level, he should have turned Carlisle United's fortunes around. He should spend more time establishing himself in the National League and perhaps find a club where he can compete at the right end of the table. His EFL career looks poor, with MK Dons failing to reach their potential despite backing Williamson and now failing to turn Carlisle's fortunes around.

Mike Williamson shot himself in the foot, not once but twice. His managerial career, at least in the EFL, will be on hold now. If he gets hired by anyone in the league, it will be a major shock.

... for the remainder of the season!

Now this is great news. This young man is going places and the best we could have hoped for is for him to see out the season with us.

  • Just like in the summer, the extension of George Abbott's loan deal is part of the best business the club has done. Hearing George talk about how he wanted to stay, and that he wanted to finish this season off with us. It's a good thing to add to his footballing CV - even better if he gets his wish and helps us to be promoted. He's a very talented player, who could go far with the right guidance.

He's got the skill and attitude, so I hope he does end his season at Meadow Lane achieving the dreams he set out.

He'll be another Jack Grealish and Callum McGregor to our memories of having played for us, before he tears up the Premier League. :D

I never felt that George Abbott wouldn't want to extend his stay. It was clear how much he's enjoying it, and why would Tottenham remove him from this environment? If we weren't in the running for automatics and December had us drop off like it nearly appeared, then maybe, but not like this.

They have just 2 opposition own goals to choose from😉

Apparently he was on loan to Notts in 2019, but just for one game according to his wiki.

panic signing and had no chance of getting more games, though the game he did play was not a comfortable game.

  • I don't think it should be closed, but it's a narrow road and there are always people walking on one side, which is dangerous, especially at night or in low-vision conditions. Snake Pass has beautiful scenery, so I hope it stays open for cars to enjoy on their route to wherever.

From the picture, it looks like the area my friend drove in on the way to Carlisle. I can't say for sure, I am not that familiar with the road since I don't personally drive. Yet, it does look like one of the many roads he took, where I found myself gazing out of the window appreciating the scenery. I wonder if they could look at improvements to make it safer during bad conditions, because it would be a shame to see it go due to this.

I have seen more dangerous roads in South American countries than this, so I hope it's not us being OTT and closing just for the sake of it.

Shrewsbury Town sign Bradford City striker Vadaine Oliver on loan until the end of the season.

"Oliver has not scored a Football League goal since New Year's Eve 2023"🤔

He's a journeyman by the looks of it. He only scored one goal in nineteen during his spell with Notts.

Looks like his best years were at Gillingham where he scored twenty-seven goals from eighty-two appearances from 2020/22.

I wish him luck at Shrewsbury.

He did well for a short time at Rochdale but was terrible for us. I never thought he was good enough for Notts, though I know some people did and that's okay. However, wanting a player back who doesn't score goals, just because he had good form elsewhere, especially when he hasn't maintained that form or goal-scoring prowess, always confused me.

hes not a bad player, just not really good enough for us or for most teams. rochdale managed to get the best out of him, so i hope shrewsbury can be considering where they are it seems a bit of a strange signing.

I am not here to stir up trouble or share false or misleading information. There's nothing mysterious about it, but if you listen to the right people, you will hear and learn things. The right people will never mislead you, unlike these X-kids or "in the know" fans. Common sense accompanies much of the gossip, so I understand that you need to be cautious. I am not profiting or seeking clicks, unlike the modern social media crowd.

Firstly, I believe Notts will be signing one more player but not on loan.

Macaulay Langstaff was never a serious consideration. Enquiries were made, but there wasn't any negotiation of wages or anything concrete about a loan.

Alassana Jatta has been the subject of two bids, both rejected. One is public knowledge, the other is through the grapevine, and it is believed to be more than the amount reported by the media. The second bid isn't from Bolton Wanderers.

The board is desperate to retain the right players in hope of gaining promotion this season. They are quietly optimistic and believe the squad is now good enough to continue their current form.

Michael Reindorf is a player Notts have been tracking, but he is not someone the club will be bringing in. The rumours about a war to get his signature are very misleading. It’s a case of being scouted and everyone else making two plus two fit their own agenda.

While we might be disappointed in Dan Crowley leaving, none of the players are particularly bothered. Not that there's any ill feeling towards him, but the Notts camp knew he would do anything to force the move. Certain key players felt he should have been sold at the beginning of the season.

  • Well, you outlined much of what could be believable, and I see no reason to question anything you shared. The additional signing seems to be right, despite Notts being linked to loans and people on Twitter who are usually right saying they were having a medical, etc.

It's a good introduction. I think if you had posted this in many other places, you would have been laughed at. But I appreciate your post for what it is. It is a good way to introduce yourself. Now, spill some more gossip, please? I am joking.

If you were to select five players before naming the full Notts XI, which players (including those injured) would make your first five names? Mine would be:

Matt Palmer
Jodi Jones
Alex Bass
Matty Platt
Jacob Bedeau
