The newcastle united player signed a 18 month contract for The Magpies.

Cal Roberts is a winger who should do well in our squad if given the chance.

i hope he does not replace ozzy, knowing ardley he will but it should be enzio. you cant keep playing someone who is a burden on the squad. hes desperately needing to find his form again and i think people are right he needs to rest.

fingers crossed roberts is part of the answer.

Its good that the club has address the winger issue, I felt certain Ardley would swoop for another defender. If there is any more recruitment to be made, I feel it's in the centre of midfield but it all depends on Jim O'Brien.

Welcome to Meadow Lane Cal Roberts.

Good bit of business again, he should have legs and looks a decent prospect.

Neal Ardley will have to manage him well, but I hope he will eventually link in with the likes of Regan Booty and Alex Lacey. The squad seems to be balanced for now, and the future.

I am genuinely exciting as when he played against Notts the other season, he looked like a bright spark in the Newcastle squad.

People shouldn't judge Cal Roberts as a finished product, more a player that needs shaping and assisting to bring out the best of him. Almost like a diamond in the dirt, but he does look like a quality signing.

I will be keen to see him perform for Notts.

I honestly don't know a lot about him.

I do know he's considered to be a great prospect, yet adapting this into the first-team can be difficult. Good players don't usually fall too far down the footballing pyramid, usually someone higher up is prepared to take a gamble but Cal might feel he could progress better having played at various levels to date.

It certainly seems to be a good coup for us.

This is a good read for those who are interested, it has been shared by a fan.

I like when the previous clubs fans complain and kick up, but it does depend on how they settle.

Callum Roberts is a good young player.

No way should he be playing in this league but it will give him time to gain some much needed experience. I think he would do well at this level and in League Two, I see it as a signing which can progress as we do.

I am pleased to see the young man sign, 22 years old should mean that Notts can get the best out of him.

Posted

I am buzzing about the signing, he looks a class above this tinpot league.

I hope this is a sign of things to come by the owners, signing young players with a plan to develop them further. It could help the academy in so many ways, but I feel it would be harsh to drop Ozzy.

Still very excited about the signing.

Good addition to the squad on paper, the Newcastle fans outpouring of disappointment should be taken with a pinch of salt. See how he does in our black and white shirt, if he settles and enjoys his football he should do well.

Posted

Good signing if he delivers and brings that fight required to stay in the side, I don't think he will get a free pass like Enzio does.

Posted

I am pleased to be welcoming the young lad, I won't be calling him anything other than Callum though.

Posted

Wow, that's a signing that no-one predicted!

Talk about getting a player bang in form as well, 17 goals in 25 games is outstanding and he's not even a striker! Blyth Spartans fans are understandably gutted.

With stats like that he should be moving up, clearly to good for the National League North. I'm surprised a league club didn't come in for him or maybe we just beat them too it! Either way I'm really excited to see him play, looks really promising.

You can see the owners philosophy of wanting to create future funds through transfers now, signing good young players and hopefully (unfortunate in a way) sell them on for more.

Yes, I too think this is a great signing.

The right age to be pushed for first-team football, we have the experience to help him and if he connects with the fans like Kyle Wootton has he might enjoy performing at Meadow Lane which always helps.

Posted

He's stepping up a division isn't he? Not much between the National League or the North division to be honest.

Cal Roberts should prove himself to be a sterling signing.

Pinched from Footymad...... CR37...... We could have a footballer with a brand........

He looks an handy player from the video Notts shared, lets hope he can improve alongside us.

Posted

I am happy with this signing, he sounds like a good upcoming player and not the type the club normally goes for. I believe a fee has been paid, any ideas how much?

Posted

If he starts off slowly, I would hope fans give him chance to adjust and fully settle.

He seems to have a good career ahead of him, people need to be mindful when a signing like this happens. It looks good on paper, but it takes time for them to bring their a game to the table.

I'm pleased with the signing, given chance he will do well.

Posted

It will be good to have three good wingers at the club, one of which needs to be rested. I do hope Neal Ardley goes for Ozzy and Roberts, they could be the answer to our problems.

Posted

He looks like a magnificent capture, a player Notts can mould and improve with. It shouldn’t be a difficult step up for the lad either.

Good recruit and bit of business.

Posted

I will have to wait and see what happens, I’m pleased by the reaction and what I have read. What the club ought to be doing is finding players like this which would contribute to the clubs growth.

Sell for a profit if possible, then find a good replacement.

Posted

This signing proves to me what fantastic owners we now have. The future looks really bright.

we have been playing with virtually a man short in games due to Enzio’s lack of impact, he desperately needs a break from the team, I suspect it won’t be him that gives way though.

Posted

I shall reserve judgement until I have seen him play but he does sound promising. He should be able to cope easily with the National league after being in an even bigger kickers league, but his future will depend on how hungry he is to succeed.
