  2. So football is grinding to a halt. The Premier League and EFL are postponed. After initially insisting on playing behind closed doors, the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 are postponed until further notice and Hannover's entire squad is in quarantine. The National League (irresponsibly IMO) is attempting to continue, but will surely bite the bullet sooner rather than later - Harrogate already can't continue.

What happens now? Surely Euro 2020 will have to be cancelled or put back a year, which I suppose would give us the opportunity to complete our fixtures in the summer, if we're over the worst by then. The alternative is very much on the table though - just cancelling the season altogether, which begs the question of what we do with promotion and relegation, or even if we bother with it at all. What happens if the situation drags on until August or later - on the one hand it feels farcical to promote teams when there are ten matches still to play, but on the other, can we really just render the season null and void? Another suggestion I've heard in Germany is promoting the teams in the automatic promotion places, but not doing relegation. That might be more acceptable to clubs, but would result in a 26-team League One.

I feel gutted about the whole thing to be honest, but all things pass, even this. The question is, what happens next?

  3. I know, I know.... The leagues are all suspends right now. I’m thinking outside the box.

What’s the secret to the success this season?

Is it the steady ownership, Neal Ardley, recruitment, the fans, correcting last season, the standard of the league, something else, or a mixture of these?

For you, what has been the secret to the success this season?

  4. Think back to the first football shirt you remember having. Who's the first player that comes to mind?

    For me it'd be this..

  5. I don't know about any other fans here, but this is typical for a Notts fan. There is never a straight forward season, well at least it seems. I don't mind that the season has been suspended, that's not a rant about that. I just feel we have to be one of the most luckiest clubs in the world.

    Steady ownership ✔️
    Manager doing well ✔️
    Players happy and settled ✔️
Club doing well in the league ✔️
    Team bang in form ✔️

Then along comes a virus which puts everything on hold, I bet the resident Barrow fan @chipmunx feels somewhat unlucky too.

  6. Dear all,

I am involved in some university research that is looking at sexuality in football and I would appreciate a few minutes of your time to share your thoughts on this subject. The survey is anonymous and can be found here:

Thanks in advance for your time.

  7. Saw an interesting question on Twitter earlier and it's harder to answer than you think..

  8. My match vlog from Notts County’s 4-0 win against Eastleigh last Saturday:

    Thanks, Rio.

  9. Its been a very boring week. I've been grabbing hours at work while we are still open.

My theory test got cancelled, which I understand, while all of this stuff is going off. Which I am gutted about because I wanted this year to be the year I want to drive.

Spent time with @ARLukomski yesterday and this morning. We had a dominoes last night, the cinni dippers are so nice, would definitely reccomend them.

Hope everyone is keeping well and safe. Thank you to any NHS workers, shop staff and lorry drivers that are reading this and keeping the country running.

    How has your week been?

  10. When given a chance to play, he's done well and has found his own form in recent weeks. It's good to see a young lad like him doing well, as he's telling Neal Ardley that he can be a first team player.

Would you give him the nod on a more regular basis?

  11. This has been done awhile back, however, we have a lot of new members and I actually don't recall the last topic getting many responses.

Naturally some members won't have taken to playing football, however, if you played please do mention where you tended to get pushed towards playing and where you preferred.

When I first got into playing football, I wanted to be a goalkeeper.

I used to attempt to pull off all those TV camera style saves and, in games with friends I used to push myself not to concede any goals. I actually believe it was possibly my best position on a pitch, yet I couldn't take long goal kicks for the life of me. I dislocated my shoulder in year 11, having played in goal for my school's team in training and I actually didn't concede but that whole experience put me off.

When I tended to play for a team, I would be pushed at left or right back.

I wasn't the fastest player, but I could move the ball quickly and people considered me to be like Gazza in terms of skill. I loved being creative with how I took the ball around people, one of my favourite moves was replicating Gazza against Scotland in Euro 1996.

    But, I could play anywhere.

Of course, I liked scoring goals and in my junior school team I had the chance to start 3 times up front and I hit the post from long distance once. In a 5-a-side contest played at Harvey Hadden I scored over 100 goals, dominantly playing in a midfield role and my schools team made the final. I got injured in the semi final, as two other lads wiped me out into a plastic divider and I picked up a concussion. Mr Smith, who did have the same nickname as Jim Smith [Bald Eagle] refused to let me play and I sat the final out.

I also liked playing in the centre of midfield, as I like being creative and I do enjoy setting the tempo with my passing.

    What about you?

  12. welcome to pon @magnot, would you tell us a bit about yourself?

your e-mail might be typed incorrectly btw.

  13. Just wondering if we have any avid bakers or cooks, in the world of PON? Just a few questions.

What is you favourite thing to cook/bake? My favourite thing to cook/bake would be some sort of cake or cookie.

What's the most difficult thing you've cooked/baked? Cinnamon rolls. I've attempted to make some today, they look nice but don't think they have proved enough.

Why do you like cooking/baking? Just relaxing, it detracts me from the world and everything that is going off. I tend to do this why I am listening to music and on my own, so I can sing as much as I can.

If you have any photos of your creations feel free to put them in this topic.

  14. McDonnell 6 - One dodgy moment in the first half but overall an afternoon on the sunbed

Brindley 7 - Won the ball back and was comfortable

Rawlinson 7 - Solid as per usual

Lacey 7 - Same as Rawlo

Bagan 7 - Pressed forward well and never gave Eastleigh any time with the ball

Roberts 8 - Something else this guy. A sprinkle of quality

Rose 8 - Pressed and challenged well. Got forward and joined the attack too. Assist for the third. Grabbed hold of the game second half

Doyle 8 - Passing was tremendous, especially finding Dennis and Wootton. Like Rose, grabbed a hold of it 2nd half

Boldewijn 6 - Didn't really do much in spells of the game. Was calm

Dennis 9 - A class act. Just runs and runs and scores.

Wootton 9 - Gave the Eastleigh centre-back pairing a torrid time and his aerial presence and ball control were brilliant. Two goals to top off a great day

Thomas 6 - Closed down the defenders and put himself about

Crawford 6 - Got back to cover and showed some neat ball control

    Wilson - N/A

  15. Simple topic, I'll ask 5 quick questions and you answer them in as much or little detail as you want.

1] Where did you grow up as s child?

2] How big of a club was Notts when you first supported them?

3] What was your first job?

4] How long have you been or not, been a season ticket holder?

5] If you could be anywhere safe right now, where would you like to be?

    Answers on paper please. 😂

Below will do just fine! 🥴😇

  16. From Sunderland Echo:

Benji Kimpioka could still leave Sunderland on loan – with Notts County emerging as a possible option for some of the club’s younger players to gain first team experience.

Sunderland are open to the youngster heading out on loan in a bid to aid his development and there is still the possibility he could leave the Stadium of Light, with National League clubs able to sign loan players until a cut-off date in March.

Non-league would be the most likely move, however it’s understood there is nothing in the pipeline at the moment.

    ...

It comes as Sunderland’s non-executive director Tom Sloanes, speaking on the Veterans in Crisis podcast, suggested Notts County as one possible destination for some younger players.

No specific players were mentioned but he said: “A friend of mine has actually bought Notts County. Bally [Kevin Ball] looks after the young kids and things like that, so I’m going to put him in touch after the transfer window because they don’t have a deadline.

“So if Kevin has a couple of lads that he wants to get out because Kevin wants to see the young lads playing football.”
