  • It's good football by Leicester City, this space opens up a lot when you tend to ignore an opposing player. Vardy showed his experience of reading the game and staying in an area where Spurs seemed to be ignoring. He did well, to make himself open for the pass even with all the space - as he could have strayed offside or alerted Tottenham Hotspur sooner.

It's almost something you would expect to see on the training ground.

Yet the save is very standard, had the keeper been beaten it would lead to questions. It's a very routine save. I do think a younger Vardy would have finished that chance much better, and I would say it was a wasted chance with a very poor finish. Take into consideration Jamie Vardy's age, then some credit can be given, but it was very soft, and the keeper had a higher chance of saving it than allowing it to be conceded. The ball is literally placed right at the keeper, which again, you would put down to Vardy's age and the fact he had burst away.

It’s good play; the speed split Spurs apart, but that shot was a waste of what was an excellent move. I don’t think it could have been any more straightforward. There seemed to be no pace or weight behind the strike. I could have caught the ball in my sleep.

A Couple of weeks ago now, Notts put out a warning about Clamping down on People who used their Copyrighted Brand illegally, (and quite right to) People making money from Fake Items featuring the official Club Brand is taking money from the Club Coffers.

However it would seem Sheffield Wednesday have decide to clamp down on Fake Shirts and have come out with the Following statement. That Fans who wear Fake Wednesday Shirts may be asked to Leave their Stadium. The thing is how do they know what Shirts are Fake? And how would they Police such an operation? I can't understand how the Club will know if a Fan is wearing a Fake Shirt, or Not. Will there be someone at each turnstile standing there asking to look at each Fans Shirt to check it's Genuine and Not Fake, how long would that take? Unless it's Glaringly Obvious there is a Massive difference between the Real and Fake Article, surely they wont be able to tell the difference. Plus all a Fan wearing a Fake shirt has to do is hide their fake shirt under a jumper coat or Jacket. I mean Stewards at the match Aren't going to be able to ask a Fan to remove their clothing, imagine what an uproar that would cause, especially if they asked children.

I think this move is just Wednesday trying to scare Fans into Not Buying the Fake shirts and only buying the real Club merchandise from their Official Club Superstore. The only way they are going to stop Fake shirts being sold to Fans is stopping the production at source, and I imagine a Great deal of these Shirts will probably be made in China, so that ain't gonna happen.

What are Your Thoughts?

  • It looks like Notts might be starting to crack down on these unlicensed sellers. I think the club should try to work with people where possible, rather than stopping them completely, but it depends on the situation. Fake and retro shirts could be a good money maker for the club. I know they work with The Terrace.

I don't think it should come at the expense of a fan enjoying their team. Removing people based on what they are wearing, even if it's a fake shirt, seems wrong. I am talking about fans who are sensibly clothed.

The issue shouldn't be with those who wear them, but clubs could discourage the purchase of fake shirts. It's a double-edged sword. You can limit those who own or would wear them, while promoting it to people who didn't know.

Congratulations to David for achieving a noteworthy landmark.

Listening to his interview, David has been working hard on his fitness to give himself the best possible chance to get a regular place in the first team.

When he came on against Fleetwood, his skill on the ball changed the game by helping to get Tsaroulla in the penalty area to win a penalty for Notts.

Didzy still has a big part to play for Notts this season, whether from the start of a match or from the bench.

its key that we dont over play him or use him in a way where he tires, because he cant do it alone but can be such a big part of our squad. not just because of experience but the way he reads games, how he gets people playing around him and whilst i have commented on his performances last season which i thought he lacked consistency. this so far he has done very well with the minutes given to him.

600 games is not something to be taken lightly.

Just to say, it was Scott who lost his man when marking for Fleetwood's first goal

    what was jatta doing?

the first goal was very well worked, i dont really make faults for that kind of goal. yet i think its jatta who could have got a header. for me if a player is front of the ball, then there is no reason not to react to defending a situation. cedwyn scott did get beat, but thats what happens and wrestling with a player in a penalty box when you have been out moved like that would be silly. for me, i think both could have done better, but its harsh to single out just scott when jatta with his size could have easily made it his ball.

fleetwood were very good, a good team that worked well with each other and focused on getting chances. they were happy to sit back, which is a shame notts did not make the most of the first half. i hope we play with a more cutting edge against grimsby.

Fleetwood Town did very well; they took their chances and were happy to wait for those chances to strike. I can’t help but feel Notts needs to be a bit like this in the games when it’s harder for them. The second half was a great display by Notts. It did feel like we left it a bit late to get back into it, and without the penalty, Fleetwood would have gone home very happy with their performance. It’s early days, but sometimes I just wish Notts would take a gamble when shooting and not rely on walking it in or crossing.

I thought Jodi and Crowley were a class apart again today. It was great to see Matty Palmer come on as a sub after his injury woes, and I thought he really made a difference. Also, it was great to see Tsaroulla come on as a sub - he looks a class act and gave us more threat down the left. I felt sorry for Scott, he is not a left winger and it showed.

Our defensive frailties are not due to personnel but formation. A 4-2-3-1 would solidify our defence whilst allowing Jodi the licence to utilise his attacking nature. This has been needed even when LW was here, although our free scoring often masked the issue. Possession is irrelevant, as we have shown in every game since SM took over. We have a playoff squad with a relegation manager.

Good performance and character though. Good squad now and Matty Palmer is back.

The EFL Central League gets under way today with the Notts B team playing Bolton Wanderers B team.

14:00 kick off at the Bolton Wanderers Training Ground.

CMON U PIESΒ

Got asked about Damian McCrory about a month or 2 ago by my Wife and Kids. They asked if I had heard of a footballer by the name of McCrory and it turns out he has a daughter that goes to the same school as my kids. Apparently, he's often there during pick up times. Don't think I've spotted him though, maybe I have but just didn't twig at the time.Β

Good morning it’s the start of another week, it’s been raining here that wasn’t in the forecast, blooming weather men.

This morning I’ve got the opticians it’s a routine check up, my mother had glaucoma which can be hereditary so I like to keep my eyes checked.

We’ve also got a chap coming to look at the burglar alarm which keeps going off in the middle of the night saying a window is open, when we check all the windows they’re all shut so hopefully he can sort that out for us.

Have a great day whatever you are doing.

Fair play to anyone who can take something and sell it. It’s no different from market traders.

The only issue I have is if people aren’t paying taxes or are doing other side hustles when they shouldn’t be.

    Otherwise, it’s just smart business.

supply and demand, fair play to those who can make good money from doing it. i dont see any arm in it, the way the internet has opened up, i think its a good thing that people can make a living selling items without having to have storage and what not. provided taxes are paid, its a good way to make an income.

Standing ovation for Matt Palmer has he made his return as a substitute. And didn't he make a difference.

Β

A message from Matty Palmer via X.

"After 296 days, what a feeling to be back out there with the lads! Thank you to everyone who has played their part in helping me get back on the pitch and thank you for the incredible reception you fans gave me, it really does mean a lot" ????????Β

i thought he came back like he had not been away, i like that he was coming wide at times and putting in crosses. there was bits to his game which i do not remember seeing before, such as him taking on players with the ball. usually he passes or turns to put his back as a way to protect the ball until he releases it. i thought his return gave us a big boost with trying to make something of the game.

Well. Notts have fought back from 0:2 down to get a creditable draw.

Notts created several chances in addition to scoring two goals.

So who would you name as your man of the match & why?

For me, there are three players that stand out, Crowley, Jones & Macari.Β

All three have a claim to man of the match, but I will give it to the man who was influential in the 2nd half & kept super cool to score a pressure penalty for Notts in injury time.Β

My man of the match goes to Jodi.

  • Hard to disagree with Jodi, he was our best attacking outlet down the wing. Although I did feel at times he was trying to do a bit too much when a easy pass was an option to him.

Macari was very good too, I think he's going to have a very good season.

except crowley was involved with winning the ball back, moving it around and working in a way that gave notts a edge. jodi was poor defending and only got into the game more when we needed goals. dont get me wrong, hes a great player and its fun to watch him but at times his decisions lost the ball. i would say without jones, we would have been unlikely to get back into it.

for me it was easily noticeable that dan crowley had the better performance.

Jacob Mitchell Bedeau was born on 24/12/1999 at Waltham Forest, England. He chose to play internationally for Grenada, him being of Grenadian descent.
Jacob can play in the centre of defence or wing back.

Jacob started his football academy career with Leyton Orient, before moving to Bury's footballing academy, where he impressed & made is professional debut for Bury before the age of 17, & he was to make 7 appearances for Bury in total.

Jacob began to catch the eye of top flight clubs & it was no surprise when he was snapped up by Aston Villa for Β£900K on a 2.5 year contract in Jan 2017.
Although Jacob didn't play for the first team during his time there, he was an important member of their U 23 squad, helping them to win a Cup & become runners up in their league.

In Jan 2019, Jacob joined League One side Scunthorpe U. He made his first team debut in Sept 2019 & altogether made 53 appearances for Scunthorpe before being released at the end of the 20/21 season.

After his release from Scunthorpe, Jacob then moved on to join Burnley on a two year deal & was put into the U 23 squad. In Jan 2022 Jacob joined League one side Morecambe on loan, he made his loan period permanent in Aug 2022 for an undisclosed amount. In all, Jacob made 90 appearances in League one & League 2 for Morecambe & scored two goals.

As we know, Jacob joined Notts on the 14th June 2024 on a three year deal and he's been very impressive in his pre-season games & his one league game so far.

Richard Montague was very pleased to get Jacob's signature, he believes Jacob will bring youth, experience & quality to the back line. "He is quick, powerful & brilliant in the air & is outstanding as a one v one defender".

  • I tried the app on the way to Tranmere, it actually looks very promising.

I did notice that it would randomly crash, and at times my phone would ask me to wait for it to load. Something which only happens with slow apps, but I am sure the kinks will be fixed in time. I honestly don't like using the OS site, it's extremely slow and worse on mobiles. The application swiftly loaded the article content. I have not checked if the update fixes any of the issues I experienced, but I couldn't watch anything.

If the actual site was a bit more optimised it wouldn't really need the app, but it does make it more compatible with phones.

I thought the ticker on the app was good during the Shrewsbury game. Better than the Google live score, as the timeline on that only provides updates on goals, cards and substitutions, where as, the ticker on the Notts app is more detailed and provides updates more regularly.Β

I hope this isn't true and it's just a rumour. Would be sad if Notts let our playmaker go.

  • Notts might cash in on Dan Crowley, but I don’t think they will just let him go. There’s time for the club to work out an extension. If they can’t work out a deal, the club might receive more tempting offers later in the season. Right now, I can’t see the club wanting to sell him. I think those jumping the gun and believing he’s going already should understand how negative it would be for the club.

I wouldn’t jump the gun either way. I’ll wait to see how things pan out. Let’s not run to speculation. For example, if he doesn’t make tomorrow’s lineup, have your say if you feel, but wait for it to be confirmed or for the window to close before worrying.

I usually park on the embankment but on Sunday there is an event so parking there won’t be an option.

Any ideas of alternatives.

Conor Michael Grant is a 23 year old Irishman who was born in Dublin in 2001. He can play either in the centre of midfield or attacking midfield, which will give Notts plenty of options.

At youth level, Conor played for Irish clubsΒ Malahide United & Shamrock RoversΒ before joining theΒ academyΒ ofΒ EFL ChampionshipΒ clubΒ Sheffield WednesdayΒ in May 2017.

He signed professional terms in December & in September 2020, Grant made his professional debut coming late on as a substitute in a 2:0Β EFL CupΒ second round win overΒ Rochdale.

In Feb 2021, Conor signed a 2.5 year contract withΒ EFL League OneΒ clubΒ Rochdale, for an undisclosed fee. He made his debut five days later as a substitute in a 2–0 defeat away toΒ Charlton Athletic.

In April 2021, Grant scored his first senior professional goal in a 2–1 home win overΒ Swindon Town.

In June 2022, Grant joined EFL League One clubΒ Milton Keynes DonsΒ for an undisclosed fee, signing a "long term" contract. He made his debut on the opening day of the season in a 1–0 defeat away toΒ Cambridge United.

Grant scored his first goal for the club on 9 August 2022 in a 1:0Β EFL CupΒ first round home win overΒ Sutton United.

Conor was named Young Player of the Year at the club's end of season awards ceremony.

In Feb 2024, Grant joined League One clubΒ BarnsleyΒ on loan for the remainder of the season with an option to buy.

And as we know, Conor signed for Notts on a three year contract on the 9th of Feb.

  • Yeah I liked the look of him after getting a bit of a longer look at Shrewsbury. A goal on his first start is great, should indicate he'll get into those positions and get a few similar goals over the season. He seems to have a very good first touch and is skilful enough to turn and dribble past players and he's pretty quick too. I know it's early days and we have good competition for the attacking midfield roles but I already think he's put himself in contention to start against Fleetwood.

The indication of the signings suggests Stuart Maynard sees him having an important role at the club. After his move from MK Dons, he really could do with a run in a team where he can settle and just get back to playing. I think this is another good read, so thanks again for sharing and writing it, @Robbie.

  • i guess it depends, i dont think we are looking for a regular starter and a new signing that is loan might be prepared to be more of a squad player. its their chance to get some experience if it does not work out, we dont lose anything. i do think things will open up come january, so until then i am happy to see the club consider loans.

I don’t have much of an opinion on him as a player, but I hope it works out. If we do go for him, I hope he brings quality to the team. It would be disappointing to loan a young player and possibly sell Dan Crowley though.

I don’t know why not, but I wouldn’t imagine it would please most fans. I think people will be wanting experience from a striker. I don’t mind. I see the sense in loaning a player in, and if he does well, opinions don’t matter. But from the look of things, I can’t see fans being all that excited. I’ll support him if he comes; if he doesn’t, good luck to him.

  • i thought he was quite rounded as a prospect.

he showed good hands, distribution was not bad, he could save shots close up and from outside the box. quite a flexible keeper, that just needed more coaching and time to fully develop. i do think it was his mental side that let him down, he seems very much lacking confidence by time he left. i dont think it was a lack of coaching from the goalkeeping coach, as i think it was kelvin pilkington back then and i thought he was brilliant.

decisions higher up i think took the confidence away, as we did not improve all that much and then moved for a more experienced keeper.

Big landmark for Notts. Meadow lane will be rocking.
