@Robbie witold pilecki?
also this is a sad but interesting read.
such a sad time in history that did so much damage to the world.
looking at wiki he was their director of football, before that the assistant manager at cheltenham. before that a fairly decent managerial cv, so i dont think he would find issue if he wanted to get back involved as a manager or dof.
i forgot to say, his experience could be useful to stuart maynard and with his past history of playing for us.
Congratulations Connell and good luck.
with him having already played there and his experience in the efl, it makes perfect sense for him to become chesters captain. i am delighted for him. i hope hes enjoying his time there and managing to get back into wales more frequently than he did when he was here. it must be nice for him to be closer to his family.
Impressed with both the crowd & Notts 1st half performance. Bromley fought hard & Notts looked short of ideas as the 2nd half progressed & after the equaliser Bromley looked the most likely winners.
Don't be too downhearted, it's a point, not a defeat & you can put it right on Tuesday.
As always I enjoyed my visit to ML, a couple of points though.
Why the feck have you got rid of the match programme?
As regards the nest, blimey O'Reilly they know how to charge for the grub
Seems I can't upload videos but I've vlogged today's game for my YouTube channel @oldmangroundhopping. Please give it a watch, perhaps a like & double perhaps a subscribe.
I have a fairly comprehensive 24/25 playlist, all my videos are 15 minutes or less long so hopefully you won't lose interest half way through, here's hoping!!
@BradtheMiller: you can copy and paste your video url into the post area like tone did. its good to see you back at meadow lane and its nice to see your vlog on the match day against us and bromley.
if you look before meadow lane becomes busy, straight at the kop you will see @Chris and @super_pie sat within the lower part o of county.

A disjointed performance tonight against Carlisle, but a vital win non the less due to a towering header from Jatta in the first half.
I have chosen the Notts starting 11 for you to choose your Pride of Nottingham's Man of the match from.
Bass, McDonald, Bedeau, Platt, Hinchy, Tsaroulla, Jones, Grant, McGoldrick, Abbott, Jatta.
If any Spurs fans read this, you have a star in the making with George Abbott. He deserves this, and so many before now.
well deserved due to his solid performance, the amount of man of the matches george abbott is picking up shows his class and importance.
Aidan Stone leaving Notts just leaves the Club with two senior goalkeepers.
Not much time for Notts before the January transfer window closes. With just two senior goalkeepers at the Club it does leave Notts at risk if one or both their goalkeepers become injured.
Notts could of course, bring in a goalkeeper in an emergency loan deal if they did lose a goalkeeper to injury, but they won't have much control in who they may get in.
i think we can rely on sam slocombe until the end of the season, no point signing another keeper imo.
i would have rather seen stone kept as our back, because i think he could have shown improvements with our defence now. not that is dislike slocombe but hes at the end of his career now.
Roman Abramovich could owe UK £1bn in unpaid tax
The top six clubs in English Football always seem to be untouchable from any possible sanctions that may be considered for possible wrongdoings.
Any other club that steps out of line or even inadvertently breaks the rules, always seem to get almost instant justice, either by a points deduction or a large fine.
I don't think that even a football regulator would be able to touch the untouchables.
why did they not do something about it when they froze his money due to the war against ukraine?
UEFA fined Chelsea €10million (£8.6m, $11m) for historical breaches of its Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. The organisation added that the fine settled the matter and Chelsea would not face any sporting sanctions.15 Jan 2025
The FA are yet to charge Chelsea for breaking FFP rules despite the above fine from UEFA.

Nice to see that Notts have moved on.
Awful defending, but we have to be mindful that he could be going through a difficult spell in his career. I wish him nothing but well wishes. We have moved on, and he will leave permanently at the end of the season. Still, I don't wish to see him struggle with poor form or anything mentally.
poor start but especially bad defending from kyle cameron. barrow should have started by getting the ball out wide, rather than passing back and cameron might not have been expecting it but he should have done much better.
Joke of the day.
i think there is a real danger with some around my age and younger, who create rumours like this most likely to see who believes them but also to get money from it. i tend not to trust anything that has not gained or earned my trust.
its obviously fake news, i dont know why some are wishing its true.
his wages would be a problem for us, he left forest because they could not agree on it. why would he accept lower here? a championship club may, but we wont and cant afford him.
I can’t imagine how anyone can believe that.
Ever noticed that little timestamp on posts showing how long members have been part of the Pride of Nottingham? Makes you wonder, doesn’t it, how many of us actually remember joining and just how long we've been lingering around here.
I joined over a decade ago, but it feels like it was only yesterday. I was drawn in by the enticing prospect of chatting about Notts and the refreshing notion of reasonable discussions. Since then, things have changed mostly for the better, and I still can’t quite wrap my head around the fact that I’ve been part of this community for ten years.
Time really does have wings, doesn’t it? Through the highs and lows of supporting Notts County, we’ve shared so many moments within this incredible community. Here's to many more! 🎉
I’ve been a member on here since 2012, I did take a sabbatical where I didn’t post for a few years but I won’t go into that. After returning to the fold I was made welcome again and haven’t looked back.
I have been a member since January 2017, so 8 years now. The community has always been welcoming, supportive, and focused on healthy discussion. In my early teens, I decided I would like to write about sports. I have found PON to be very influential in my development, and I look back on my university years, seeing this site thrive.
People might not always agree, but we need to remember that we want the best for each other and not at the expense of the site itself. I am passionate about the community, just as much as I am about writing.
I joined on the 22nd of August 2023. I have been a long-time reader of the content published by the Pride of Nottingham, which I find excellent. I do not get involved much with the forum side of things, but I enjoy talking about Notts and reading discussions. Any area where I can provide a detailed and worthwhile comment inspires me to contribute. I do not like adding a comment if I feel I cannot add to the context or points. From time to time, I visit the forum, and I see something where I feel a comment would be worth adding.
Although I have not been a member for very long, I have read the site for as long as some of you have been members. I understand that it is difficult to maintain something like this, but I miss the content and articles put out on the home page.
I have no plans to abandon Twitter, at all.
As the very first Notts fan and fan account to join Threads, I take great pride in this milestone. I realise that social media isn't going anywhere, but with fans making home to networks such as Blue Sky - I believe it warrants a PON account. This has been encouraged by @ARLukomski, which at first I wasn't all that taken to doing but in hindsight it does seem to be as equal to Threads.
You can follow Pride of Nottingham on Blue Sky here.
I openly acknowledge that the site, and social media channels have been quiet, but this is for personal reasons. I greatly appreciate your understanding. My aim is to ensure Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Threads and Blue Sky are all different in some form.
Which I would also like to mention, that within the new year I plan to open a discord server that will be more for updating the community here on site related downtime, maintenance, articles, news etc.
Due to the hacking incident, and even before that I am anxious about sharing sensitive information outright on social media channels.
i plan to join when i get chance, i wont be ditching x but as i said before i only really look at notts, pon and other pon members.
Twitter was my go to social media platform but due to the toxic feel of the platform I decided to leave a while ago. I have been tempted to go back on it but then I realise why I left it in the first place. Just like @liampie said, there are people on there just looking for reactions and it seems like that's all they're on there for rather than discussing, debating or having conversation. Also like @Chris said, people used the platform just to gain a following and often looked down on people with lesser followers which led to them mocking them just because of the lack of followers they had.
Blue Sky has caught my interest about joining but when I first heard about it, I thought it was Twitter 2.0 but after reading some of the comments on this post, I might be tempted to join.
Is it still worth joining? It would be great to have a social media platform once again where you can engage with people without having the issues you quite often experience on twitter when it comes to commenting or posting.
After reading and replying to Fan of Big Tone's discussion about Stuart Maynard having been in his role for a year, I thought further about my response and whilst I don't want this to come across as ripping into Maynard's ability, I do think there's room to talk about how he can improve further. I do feel it's important that we acknowledge where he has come from, what he's achieved so far with us and that he will still be learning his role in a much bigger environment than he has previously held.
I have listed some general areas where I believe he can, and at times is showing a better understanding. I do wonder what the community thinks, especially from more Maynard out supporters.
If we can rationalise and be fair, perhaps we can further see just how much Maynard has done better than we might feel, along with fair points about how he can improve.
As much as I agree with Jimmy over lots of things football wise, @Piethagoram @Fan of Big Tone there are just two many variables in football to say that learning something from every game will stop a team losing.
All you can do is reduce the variables, but there always be an element of chance too.

@Robbie How dare you question the word of The Messiah!
Stuart Maynard's biggest downfall is not knowing how to make in-game changes to put Notts on the front foot. He's slow at adapting, and sometimes it gets too late to get anything from games. We can dominate teams at home, but when they change things, we fall off. Even though we get good results, it sometimes costs us points.
He needs to be braver at times, and at other times he needs to take off players who aren't performing well enough. If a player continues to struggle after 45 minutes, and other teams exploit this, it makes no sense to hang on and avoid making changes. Football is about taking your chances. We focus too much on control. Possession isn't always the best tactic; creating and scoring chances is.

A frustrating draw for Notts today against Bromley.
I have chosen the Notts starting 11 for you to choose your Pride of Nottingham's Man of the match from.
They are as follows.
Bass, McDonald, Bedeau, Platt, Hinchy, Austin, Jones, Grant, McGoldrick, Abbott, Jatta.
I’ve gone for Jodie Jones scored the pen and hit the bar with a curling shot, it’s great to have him back.
i thought jack hincy put in his best notts performance and looked good throughout, otherwise i would have gone for jatta.
An away day for Notts County Women as they are scheduled to meet Lincoln United on Sunday 26/01/25 at 2pm.
A happy Manager after that result.
Right boys and girls, you know what to do - 3pm Saturday is kick-off time and you get a joker each. Good luck!

@ARLukomski and @4everapie knocked it out of the park this round with impressive scores!
---
Looking at our league table, @ARLukomski has wiped out @super_ram's seemingly comfortable ten-point lead to take top spot! @4everapie jumps into the top five, while @Fan of Big Tone is now in the top half of the table.
---
But don't get too used to that table - round 29 is coming up on Tuesday night and the fixtures are online now! Go on, give it your best shot. Thanks for playing!
The only time I'll ever thank Chesterfield. Now back to booing them. BOOOOOOOOOOO. Special shout out to Bristol City and Blackburn
Game 28 - The Ravens (H)

What line-up should Stuart Maynard opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

I agree with a lot that’s already been said, think we file that one under “frustrating”. We had the chances but just didn’t take them. It was unfortunately for us a “classic Bromley” performance, they just wanted that one chance and they got it (we gave it to them), they didn’t really trouble us for large parts of the match.
The fact so many teams visit Meadow Lane and think we can’t go toe-to-toe with these is a massive compliment, but at the same time we’ve got to make sure we punish teams that do just sit back and basically hope for the best. Whenever a well organised team has come to Meadow Lane this season we have struggled to break them down, we were much better than against the likes of Port Vale and Gillingham but we’ve got to be more ruthless in the future.
I’ve seen the Jatta chance back now, my initial reaction was that he should’ve had a shot, I’m even more convinced now! He actually had the ball under control, all he had to do was toe-poke it towards goal and it would’ve gone in. And then right at the end Whitaker had a chance to make himself an instant hero, a Bromley player would’ve buried that header…
Good morning, it’s a chilly start at 3 degrees, hopefully it will warm up later.
How is everyone? I guess we are all on a bit of a high after the excellent weekend win?
What has the week got in store for you? How’s work/school/college/retirement treating you?
Come and talk on the weekly chat topic.
Good morning, we’ve got gusty winds here, a front fascia board has blown off the shed but so far no other damage and I’m pleased to report the hedgehog gutter gadgets are still in situ. Phew!
It’s not as bad here as further north of the country. I hope everyone stays safe wherever you are
Good morning cold and bright here, it’s matchday! I know I’m a whimp but I’m staying at home and listening, it’s going to be 5 degrees max, so probably -2 in the Pavis stand, I get chilled very easily these days, I’ll be glad when the weather gets warmer.
In other news we drove all the way out to junction 28 for Wagamama’s last night to celebrate grandson Fred’s birthday but there was an enormous queue outside so we went back home and had a Chinese takeaway and watched the final of Traitors. We don’t normally have Chinese food we prefer Indian but I was impressed it was very nice, especially that prawn sesame toast thing.
Why don’t Wagamama’s let you book a table? Ridiculous!
Anyway have a great day and COME ON YOU PIES!
Good evening..
It's been a pleasant day here with plenty of sunshine. Pity about the result today, but our rivals for a promotion space, apart from Doncaster & Bradford who won, either drew or lost, so Notts didn't lose any ground today.
Storm Eowyn has been named and is forecast to bring strong winds to much of the UK on Friday and into Saturday.
Update.
Update
The worse storm for 25 years to hit the UK
Update.
If Notts are to have a chance of automatic promotion, they have to keep Jatta.
@gtownjohnno £6m banked by Plymouth.... Plymouth come back with offer £1.5m... Does it become difficult to turn down?
1 hour ago, Piethagoram said:@gtownjohnno £6m banked by Plymouth.... Plymouth come back with offer £1.5m... Does it become difficult to turn down?
It certainty would be but iam quietly confident he'll stay to the end of the season....but who knows what will happen then??
This is a test of the Notts owner's commitment to promotion this season.
I think they'll pick the chance of promotion before profit, I hope I'm not wrong.
The last time I remember Nottingham Forest being in the nose bleed area of the Premier League, with Liverpool doing well, was when Blackburn Rovers won the title. Manchester United were enjoying better days back then.
I still can't get over them being 14th in the table now. It makes you realise just how far they have fallen behind so many other teams. Newcastle United are only doing well because of their takeover. Still, I'd much rather see them doing well.
Fair play to the likes of Bournemouth, Fulham, and Aston Villa.

Are Companies checked for money laundering risks in the UK?
"Yes, companies in the UK are checked for money laundering risks, with regulations requiring businesses to perform "Customer Due Diligence" (CDD) checks, which involve verifying customer identities and assessing potential risks of money laundering activities, particularly for businesses dealing with high-value transactions or cash-intensive operations; this is overseen by HMRC who can conduct inspections to ensure compliance with Money Laundering Regulations".
Key points about money laundering checks for UK companies:
CDD checks:
"Essential part of anti-money laundering compliance, involving background checks and verifying customer identities to mitigate money laundering risks".
Risk assessment:
"Companies need to assess their own money laundering risks and implement appropriate controls based on their business activities".
Suspicious Activity Reporting:
"Businesses must report any suspicious transactions to the National Crime Agency".
Regulatory body:
"HMRC is responsible for enforcing money laundering regulations and can conduct inspections on businesses".

I have long advocated that UEFA and FIFA should not be allowed to hide behind Swiss secrecy laws
Notts Head Coach Stuart Maynard has confirmed that Jevani Brown & Josh Martin will be leaving the club
“Brown has gone back to Bristol Rovers, & Josh Martin, we won’t be renewing his deal, but I thank them for all of their hard work & when they were with us they were excellent”
i think we can move on from both players and i thank them, but really despite the fact i would have kept martin. will javis sounds to be more impressive. its just a case of wishing both players all the best.
jevani brown could have been used more, martins might have secured a first team place but they are not notts players now.
In some ways, think we should have kept Josh Martin
Allowing Scott, & Martin to leave, knowing that there could be offers coming in for Jatta, might come back to bite the Club. I hope this isn't the case.

I wholeheartedly support this petition. If the Government can help fund one of the richest clubs in the World to build a new stadium, how about the government help fund smaller clubs down the football pyramid, that are on the brink of extinction?
Of course the government would never do that. Clubs like Man U should finance their own improvements. NOT the taxpayer.
what about other clubs? i know there are local grants to help, i recall reading that with wrexham but just how much as the uk government spent on helping spurs, everton and the likes? manchester united should build it out of their owners money.
i think its wrong to spend tax payers money on this type of stuff.
