Slocombe - 6.5 - Decent, don't think he stood much of a chance with either goal. Some odd decisions with distribution at times.

Brindley - 6.5 - Decent. Bit slow in picking a pass at times.

Baldwin - 7.5 - Very good yesterday.

Cameron - 6.5 - Did OK.

Nemane - 6.5 - He's brilliant one moment and infuriating the next.Β

Randall - 6 - He was fairly tidy, but he didn't do much.Β

Bostock - 7.5 - Bosses the centre of the pitch with his technique. We are a different team when he is in it.

JOB - 7 - Very good performance from JOB. His runs can open a lot of things up and he does have an eye for a pass.

Crowley - 8 - Twists and spins, with so much skill. Really is a player and a half.

McGoldrick - 7.5 - You can recognise he's played levels above this. Cross-field ball to Nemane was special. What he tries doesn't always come off, and his finishing is a bit hit and miss at times.

Langstaff - 8 - His movement is tireless and he carved them up first half. Special player.Β

Rawlinson - 7.5 - Don't think he put a foot wrong when he came on.

TAR - 4 - Not a great performance, defensively naΓ―ve and not able to get the better of his man offensively.Β

Gosling - 1 - Useless. Looked like a player somebody who had dragged in from the pub before the game. Gives the ball away and doesn't even bother to chase back.Β

Morias - 6 - Lots of energy when he comes on.

Β

The player seems like someone Notts might be interested in, but it all depends on the reliability of the original source. I usually don’t pay much attention to rumours, not even those shared by Tom. It’s always best to wait and see what unfolds. It would be intriguing to see if any reports on this matter emerge.

    1 goal and 7 yellow cards? ????

if he were to sign for us, he could become the new liam noble. i would be curious to know more useful stats like his assists and average minutes on the pitch. he does not sound like an amazing find. rather a player that could develop further with experience.

i think derek adams boring and predictable but there is not much difference from the lower english league and ross county. i cant see him being there for long, its a tough place to get the results needed to have a long term spell unless you are well in with the club.

sutton, newport, forest green, tranmere and grimsby could all be in the frame for relegation this season.

i dont even think colchester or doncaster are out of the threat but i think forest green and tranmere should have enough about them to float out of the drop zone. sutton will have found this season hard due to all the players they lost in the summer. staying up does seem a task for them. i would prefer grimsby and newport to go down.

i like curtis thompson i wish him all the best at cheltenham, hes the type of player who has suffered a lot with injuries but you still want to see him do well just because hes an ex notts lad.

  • Well, it was entertaining, you can’t argue you don’t get your money’s worth at Meadow Lane this season! I’ll get the second half out the way first because I don’t want to be too negative after a win, I’d have taken a 4-2 before kick off 100%!

Bradford had nothing to lose at 4-0 and came out with no pressure and a desire to put right their awful first half performance. But we didn’t react to it. We needed to be quicker on the ball and take fewer touches given Bradford were actually being pro-active and pressing us. We did such a terrific job first half it was a shame we struggled to adapt to the opposition’s changes in the second. Lessons to be learnt there. And one other minor gripe is the silly yellow cards we’re picking up, I think Baldwin will miss the next game now after needlessly kicking the ball away with 2 minutes to go and Adebayo got his custom yellow too. He must have the best yellow to minutes ratio in the league…

On the positive side that first half was probably the best I’ve seen this season. Bradford did what any team should do if they want a tough time against us and that’s sit back and just let us have the ball under no pressure. Some really great goals and Crowley was just so on it, his goal with the little drag back was fantastic. And given our mini injury crisis it was great to see Bostock, Randall, Morias, Brindley and Cameron all back. Gosling definitely looks like someone who hasn’t played for a while, but given time hopefully he’ll get up to speed. Back into the autos as well, all in all a pretty good day.

On Saturday we take on Bradford City in a televised match with an earlier kick off. How many links can we find between the two clubs.

I’ve got an unusual link to start us off, how about Colin Slater? He started his reporting career for Bradford City games before reporting on Notts County.

If that’s a bit tenuous I give you Mark Stallard who played 42 games for Bradford scoring 10 goals in 1996-97, he later had two spells at Notts becoming a firm favourite with the fans.

Over to you folks how many more links can we find?

  • It’s a stupid rule that didn’t need changing! I’ve seen images that also suggest it hit his chest, but I think that is taken a split second later. If you advance it one frame at a time, it looks to hit a raised arm first but it’s a natural jumping reaction so very harsh.

More questions need answering around how the striker was able to get so much space and why Slocombe didn’t just head it clear. He might have got a boot in the face but at least he would have got a foul!

@Fozzy Until it does, it's a penalty all day. Under the arm (arm pit) or directly - we need to be mindful about jumping like this. Jodi Jones doesn't deserve any fault, but he should know better than to jump up in the manner that he did. I don't think the ball would have gone in but considering he might have actually seen red. Surely it would have been better to just let it safely pass over his head or block it with his back by turning away quicker.

Turning his back might have been It sounds simple, but it's much more challenging in practice, but if it had gone in without being blocked then it wouldn't have had the same impact the penalty had.

Then again, play shouldn't have been allowed to temporarily continue.

I don’t know who chooses the songs for the build up during the match as the team are coming out the tunnel but Brainbug - Nightmare is excellent, it really builds up the tension especially in big games.Β

What do others think?

I also like the uniqueness of our team, but I wish we had a song to sing when the players enter the field, like many top teams do.

We do have "County's the Team for Me" by Jimmy Willan, which is very naff but we have played it in the past. It depends what you want to do - do you want to build the atmosphere or lead with a traditional song?

Here in Germany, Waldhof Mannheim do both. They play "Rofo's Theme" while the teams are being read out, and when the players are just entering the pitch they switch to the club song (which their fans now sing along to).

I’m under the weather at the moment, I reckon I’ve caught @super_ram’s bug, I knew I shouldn’t have talked to him on the forum. ????

Consequently I won’t be at the match tomorrow and will watch from my armchair on Sky Sports, so if you’re going give them a cheer for me.

Mrs. T is doing a chettinad chicken curry tonight, I hope to be able to eat it. Then on Sunday I’m taking her to City Hospital for more tests on her heart we are hoping the results will give us some answers as to what’s wrong.

Whats everyone else doing this weekend?

  • I get that he didn’t want to carry on after having stuff thrown at him. But the way it’s being shown, it’s as if he was physically hit. In reality, it was just objects, which isn’t right, but this kind of behaviour might be usual. I reckon his choice to make a fuss and hold up the game was just him playing the victim. He should have been professional, letting the stewards and police do their work while he did his. Not doing his job is a bit daft, especially as there’s no photos or videos showing any real harm to him.

It's not a good light for us Notts fans, but I can understand the frustration, and it is very common for objects to be thrown. I think the way that it's being portrayed is almost like a player diving from minor contact, I don't mean to play down the assistant referee for having objects thrown at him.

I do think it is more down to him being cowardly in the face of having played on, only to flag late for the penalty after Crewe players pressured him.

However, we need to move forward from this because we are far better than this.

  • Oxford have appointed Des Buckingham now so that's that.

As for the press conference, I noticed he emphasised that he hadn't been contacted and stopped short of an unequivocal "I'm staying here". The impression I got is that he ignores speculation and would only think about the pros and cons of a potential move if an actual approach is made.

Donning my black and white glasses, I'd prefer an explicit pledge of loyalty. But being realistic, a manager (or head coach) is only ever a bad run away from the sack and has a career to think about.

Luke wasn't going anywhere, he's committed to Notts and he repeatedly shows this.

The title should be 'Luke isn't going anywhere, he's ours'. :D

I can understand the concern from fans, but really, we need to make sure we don't ever give certain misleading places the time of day. I am still seeing fans commentingΒ angrilyΒ onΒ pages on Facebook that spreadΒ falseΒ information. This is exactly what theyΒ want;Β it's a circle ofΒ never-endingΒ giving, even if you think it makes them look badΒ toΒ people outside the loop - it simply doesn't For them spreading false information, click-baiting is merely aΒ shortcutΒ instead of doing hard work.

I'm very much against all thisΒ nonsense.Β I may seemΒ old-fashionedΒ and hung with high principles, butΒ I believe in reputations.

At some point, probably in the medium term, he is going to leave.Β  That is just football fact and I think we should embrace it. If Notts keep performing and improving then bigger and bigger clubs will be interested and one will be too good an opportunity to turn down.Β  The good thing is though, if that does happen we will be in a much better place than we were, and the longer it takes to happen, the better our position will be.Β As a result we should be able to attract more experienced managers and better players. I have every confidence that our recruitment team have contingencies for when he (or any of our key staff) leave, and we will be fine (and quite possibly kick on again). I would say that Williams is an improvement on Burchnall partly because of the foundation Burchnall had left, and I think the same will be true when Williams leaves. So, I am really pleased he is staying as I think he has unfinished business and is an excellent coach, but I wouldn't be too despondent when he does move on, as we will be fine and we will continue to progress.

  • That story is no more reliable than those pop-up football sites that bait fans into believing their nonsense. The Portsmouth News might be credible, but the journalists who write for them aren’t always the most trustworthy. The same goes for the Nottingham Post, Derbyshire Telegraph, etc. If it’s reported by the BBC, who despite their misleading National News, would be far more trustworthy because their local reporters do an excellent job of ensuring a story is worth covering. Luke Williams isn’t going anywhere, according to my friend’s dad, whose mate works at Notts.

People are being daft towards Ruben Rodrigues. He clearly didn’t mean it the way it’s been twisted, and much of it continues to be taken out of context. We need to remember that he’s just a footballer and isn’t used to our media. I think it’s just an innocent comment made in the heat of the moment, just like Luke Williams says. Stop worrying and just enjoy Notts, and please be nice to people.

Season tickets holders can reserve their seats.

We don't usually include the FA Cup in the prediction league - however, to replace the postponed round 12, I've decided to include it this time. All the other rules are the same - kick-off is at 3pm on Saturday, remember your jokers and good luck!

Β

Rotherham United v Queens Park Rangers

West Bromwich Albion v Hull City

Alfreton Town v Worthing

Doncaster Rovers v Accrington Stanley

Eastleigh v Boreham Wood

Exeter City v Wigan Athletic

Newport County v Oldham Athletic

Port Vale v Burton Albion

Β

After that strange "cup" competition last week, I'm pleased to report that the Proper Leagues (and the National League too) are back in action. So it's the same routine: gaze into your crystal ball and predict the following scores by 3pm on Saturday. Remember your joker and good luck!

Β

Coventry City v Stoke City

Southampton v West Bromwich Albion

Derby County v Barnsley

Wycombe Wanderers v Stevenage

AFC Wimbledon v Doncaster Rovers

Tranmere Rovers v Forest Green Rovers

AFC Fylde v York City

Altrincham v Southend United

i did not expect any questions about the trouble, but i thought the interview would be a bit more than it is. it was very simple compared to normal, i respect the decision to leave Luke Williams to reflect on things but there are a few questions which could have made it bit more informative. such as the decision to drop aidan stone, i dont think sam slocombe did anything wrong but its a call which makes a lot of change leading into a big game away from home.

I think he handled it brilliantly - his response to the penalty is so different to many others. He clearly thinks there's no point getting angry about things you can't influence, and that's a healthy attitude to have.

Morning all, what plans do you have for the weekend?

Curry night tonight, not sure which delight Mrs. T will be conjuring up but it’s sure to be a nice one. I’ve got a Banana Bread beer to wash it down from Lidl not had it before maybe @super_ramΒ has had it?

Tomorrow the park run is still partially flooded and they are doing a different route which means three laps of a smaller area, so I don’t think I’ll bother with that, three laps gets a bit boring, instead I’ll do a little run around our local streets then settle in to listen to Notts match on the radio.

Whats everyone else doing or been doing if you read this later.

I’ve got a bottle of Rosy Nosey for tomorrow it’s from the Batemans brewery, it promises, fruity flavours of raisins. Sounds good, it’s Β£1.50 from Morrisons, I’ll let you know my verdict.

I wasn’t that impressed with this one really, the fruity flavours promised didn’t materialise unless it was because my mouth was on fire eating Mrs. T’s Chilli con Carne.Β :joker:

So today was Remembrance Sunday, we normally go up to the local memorial for the ceremony but today we were busy with other things, I wanted to do some gardening before it rained because the brown bin is collected tomorrow but we did pause from our chores at 11am to remember those that gave their lives for our freedom.

Relaxing now hoping to watch Forest get trounced at West Ham.Β

I hope everyone has had a good weekend.

yesterday i was at the crewe game, i was not really entertained by the game and thought we could have done better. the trouble towards the end of the game is being focused on our fans, but the crewe stewards were very eager to cause trouble. i dont think we did ourselves any favours with throwing things at the assistant ref, but the way everything is being blown out of portion and the trouble fans who was not doing anything had was very shocking.

today i am just relaxing because i feel its really needed to unwind after yesterday.

I have tried a few of the'different' beers and find most drinkable but mildly disappointing.I do like to try different brewery beers when I get the chance though.

I watched the Remembrance Sunday programme on telly, which brought back memories of watching the parades in Alfreton with my dad many ,many years ago.

Not exactly a trouncing @Fan of Big ToneΒ but at least a good result. I do wish referees would clamp down on all the pushing and pulling at corner kicks and free kicks though.Even the commentators seem to condone some of it.

Apart from the result at Crewe a very good weekend!

  • I've never been one much for chocolates or sweets.I do very occasionally have a Crunchie, Mars bar or Cadbury chocolate or similar and to be honest I don't even recall, Caramac so doesn't even bother me..

I don’t eat many chocolates or sweets these days I think your tastes change as you get older, I think I remember Caramac being quite a unique taste when I’ve had one when I was younger, I quite liked them. However my favourite chocolate bar was Galaxy.

Has Lampard ever demonstrated any real success as a manager.

One needs head coaches that have managed on smaller budgets

  • Show previous comments  1 more
  • Lampard was The Rams manager for the 2018/19 season. His first game was at Meadow Lane where I witnessed the pre season friendly which endedΒ  4-1 to my team.He brought in several high profile loans in Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea, who was voted Derby's player of that season(now playing for AC Milan),Harry Wilson from Liverpool(Now playing for Fulham and Wales in the Prem) and also from Chelsea ,Mason Mount (now playing for Man Utd and England) He undoubtedly acquired these loanees due to his connection with Chelsea and also Steven Gerrard at Liverpool..Derby finished the season in 6th place, same as the previous season but with 74 points ,one fewer than previous season..A notable victory during his tenure was in the EFL cup when beating Man Utd at Old Trafford in a penalty shootout. He did get us to the Championship play off final but lost to 2- 1 to Villa. So to summarise, after losing the returning loanees at the end of the season,Derby ended one point fewer and still in The Championship.Considering the backing he got from Derby and help from connections he actually took Derby backwards.Yes, @PiethagoramΒ he was a FAILURE.He didn't do much in his subsequent positions as manager either. It seems a reputation as a player goes a long way beyond playing days.

@Fan of Big ToneΒ I hope that answers your question and I didn't even mention his dithering with the open secret of him leaving to manage Chelsea.

    Β

i think he will end up bringing in loans to oxford if he gets the oxford job. i dont think he knows league one football enough to do a proper job, he seems to favourite bringing in expensive players and his time at derby was more down to the clever loans he managed to secure when derby were a very good championship team.
